Kata kunci: Kesiapsiagaan, gempa bumi, tsunami, ancaman Gulf region of Pelabuhan Ratu which have been widely known as a tourist area is not free from the threat of earthquake and tsunami risks, so that require mitigation efforts, including through preparedness efforts of many parties, especially the people who live in it, so that losses can be suppressed as small as possible. Based on population condition, there is also a difable or disable group (ABK) who has special needs which must be met. One such requirement is the need for recreation. ABK have free time that can be used for recreation. There are factors that affect the recreational activities of difable children in Bandung. This paper discusses the recreation patterns of disable children based on their leisure or free time, with case study of disable children in primary education level of Bandung city. Interviews were conducted to the respondents of disable children (ABK), their parent/guardian teacher. The result of study showed that the disable children (ABK) have a lot of free time which was mostly used for recreation, but only a small percentage of respondents had an opportunity to have recreation outside. The role of stakeholders, especially city government, should be improved to give greater attention to the disable children, including opportunities for recreation. Keywords: recreation, disable children, leisure, Bandung city

Abstract

Abstract. Pontianak City is the capital of West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. In contributing to one of its missions to be a city that supports the development of trade, services and tourism, Pontianak continues to make improvements through physical development and spatial arrangement to maintain the flow of goods and services. The purpose of this study was to analyze the existing urban networks (in this case infrastructure networks) in Pontianak in support of the city’s development goals to become a leading trade, services, and tourism center in Kalimantan. Network analysis was applied by analyzing the infrastructure networks, explore the ‘structural position’ and then the tendency of the infrastructure network configuration in connecting the trade/market areas or tourist attractions was investigated. Based on the analysis, it was found that the central or important areas that link other areas within the infrastructure network configuration are still dominated by market or trading areas/functions, while for tourist attractions they are still limited. Increased centering or grouping in specific areas can be achieved by adding or reducing the degree of connectedness, by arranging the flow or connections (links) from one area (point) to another, directly or indirectly, with the infrastructure network as the intermediary. Keywords: urban, network, trade, tourism, PontianakAbstrak.

Abstract

Using three different proposals made for Jakarta during 1988-1992 as a ase study, this work investigates the formulation of mass transit system proposals in Jakarta with the objectives of comparing alternative transportation demand modelling methods, assessing their strengths and weaknessess and recommending the most suitable ones to be adapted. The results indicate that, in the general context of developing countries and for pre-feasibility level, simple methods and models still seem more appropriate due to the lack of reliable data and expertise, fast changing developments and high uncertainties. Despite the development of new models and methods in developed countries, their application in developung countries might need to be adjusted and simplified due to the different environment. More specifically, each study has its own strengths and weaknesses, therefore their combination might results in better outcome.

Abstract

Allocating new low income housing could be challenging particularly in large cities which emphasize profit-making activities. For urban planners in Toronto, selling up government interventions should be conjoined with the Ontario‘s policy on low income housing, but more importantly, with the nature of provincial politics. When socialist—oriented government took power social spending was protected from the provincial budget cut which represent favorable policies and commitments to wards the needy and disadvantaged. It was a bad decision especially in the period of recession. Unpopular to the majority, the conservative—oriented party easily won seats at the provincial-based power. They prefer market-oriented, strong—handed policies on low-income and provision of the basic needs to the needy, leaving among other low Income housing to market mechanism to determine the size of low income housing. This leads planners to rely heavily on the non—interventive instruments to provide such housing.
