Abstract

Positivistic methodology has a very determining role in the development of modern science. To begin with, science is applied only to the physical universe. Science began to focus on this physical world and quickly flourished into a philosophical position that was quickly embraced as the reigning worldview for the modern age. This view further advocated an empirical skepticism in which nothing about the universe – seen as objects – should be believed unless it was shown by quantitative experiment to exist without question. Other human experiences of qualitative nature are outside the legitimate domain of scientific enquiry. Science became consumed with a purely secular and material focus. However, modern science has created crisis of unintended results. At the end of the twentieth century, we can see the grand results of this narrow focus on material progress, such as over exploitation of natural env ironment to the level of destruction and human alienation of technological progress. Subsequently an important turning point has emerged in the formation of the modern worldview. An alternative participative methodology has emerged to encounter this crisis. Participative methodology is defined as participative, educative and less controlled  research methodology that lead to a more holistic scientific knowledge. Keywords: science, research, participative methodology

Abstract

Strong interaction between landuse and transportation system has been well and widely known by many transport planners. However, this concept is rarely being used in many transportation network planning projects. The parameter usually used is the trend of traffic growth. This kind of information is not very precise to be used for the transportation network development policy. This kind of information will give misleading results for the transportation network development policy.Basically, this interaction concept combines the regional development policy represented in the Regional Landuse Plan (national, province, kabupaten or city) with the Transport Network System which will accomodate the flows resulting from the activities carried out by each landuse. In fact, the landuse has a very strong causal relationship with the transport network system (road, rail, etc.)A quantitive model has been developed to relate the interaction between the Regional Landuse Plan and the Transport Network System (especially road) so that the transport network development policy, in fact, has anticipated and accomodated the changes due to the landuse development. This quantitive model can be used for different levels of planning such as: for landuse (national, regional island, province, kabupaten, city and ecen small local area) and for road transport network (arterial, collector, local, either primary or secondary). This paper will describe in detail the interaction concept in the form of a quantitive model and show the results of the application for planning the development of road transport network in East Java province.

Abstract

Preservation is a mean to maintain the physical heritage which has historical and aesthetical value. Development or modification of preserved buildings in historical district in England and USA gives economic effect, which is reflected through the economic value of land. It is assumed that government intervention can control the economic value of land through the designation of preservation districts. Oud Batavia as a research case is one of historical heritage districts in old town Jakarta which has prime price of land at present. Yet, it is not influenced bay heritage value of preservation program. The government of Jakarta draws up the land price based on the fluctuation of the market price, which is still higher than the neighborhood existing condition. The land price in historic heritage of Out Batavia does not seem to have positive correlation with the perception of the people in determining the land value. It abandons the government rules, the design of the buildings, and it remains only as romantic memories of an old town. What will happen next depends on people’s consciousness to maintain Oud Batavia from becoming a deadly zone due to the land economic value

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Water and Sanitation for Low Income Community 2 (WSLIC-2), Kabupaten Bogor Clean water and sanitation are basic human needs that must be met. Besides drinking, water is also used for the majority of daily human activities, such as washing, cooking, etc. But in fact, there are many people who find it difficult to get it, giving rise to various problems in society, especially in rural areas. As in Bogor for example, the problem of water shortage also occurred in several villages in the area despite the Bogor Regency is a water catchment area with high rainfall. One of the efforts made by the government to address these issues is through the provision of clean water and rural sanitation. Water and Sanitation Program for Low Income Community 2 (WSLIC-2) is a program to provide clean water and sanitation involving public participation in the implementation process, from the planning, development and management environment. The study used a qualitative descriptive-analytical method to determine the prospects for sustainability of water supply based on community participation, initiated by WSLIC Ciawi-2 in the district, Bogor regency. The results of a study of three villages showed that the prospect of sustainability of each country is different, depending on their characteristics of each village. Keywords: Water and Sanitation for Low Income Community 2 (WSLIC-2), Bogor District
