Abstract

This study aimed to determine the contribution of the agricultural sub-sector in the economy of Sigi district, to determine the basis agricultural sector in Sigi district in prioritizing regional development in order to compete in the Central Sulawesi economy, and to analyze the growth of the agricultural sector and agricultural competitiveness in Sigi district. The largest contribution of the agricultural sector (51.58%) in generating the GRDP of Sigi district, during the year 2013-2017, occurred in 2014 while the lowest contribution (47.58%) occurred in 2017. The food crop sub-sector, despite experiencing declines in recent years, continues to make contribution to Sigi district GRDP.  The agricultural sector shows an average LQ value of 1.49, which confirms that the agricultural sector is one of the basis sectors in Sigi Regency. The comparative advantage in the agricultural sector is strongly influenced by the plantation crop sub-sector and the food crop sub-sector with the average LQ values were 1.72 and 1.15, respectively. The shift share analysis of the provincial share component shows that the agricultural sector has a large contribution to the performance of Sigi economy which is influenced by the economic growth of Central Sulawesi Province as much as IDR 48.44 billions. The proportional shift component shows that the value of the agricultural sector is IDR -406.949 billion indicating that the economy of Sigi district specializes in the same sector and it grows slowly in the economy of Central Sulawesi Province. The differential shift component shows that the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors have competitive advantages with a value of IDR 1.30 billions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the typology of the growing sectors in the economy of Sigi district and to determine its basis and non basis sectors in the economy of the region and to determine changes and shifts of leading sectors within the economy of the region. Data analyzed was using Klassen Typology analyses, Location Quotient (LQ) analyses and Shift Share analyses. Such sectors as agriculture, forestry and fishery are the most advanced and rapidly growing sectors in the region as indicated by their greater rate in economic growing performance and market share than its reference region Central Sulawesi province.  These three sectors still remain the basis sectors for this region between years 2013 to 2017.  The LQ values of these sectors have increased for the last five years with the average LQ value of 1.54. It also showed that the agriculture, forestry and fishery are leading and competitive sectors in the economic growth of the region.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to identifying basis and non basis commodities in food crop sub-sectors in South Buko sub-district; to identifying changes in the role of basis and non basis commodities in food crop sub-sectors in South Buko sub-district; and to identifying the growth and competitiveness of commodities in food crop sub-sector in South Buko District. Data were analyzed using Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient and Shift Share analysis. There were two types of basis commodities i.e. peanuts and sweet potatoes with an average LQ values of 2.64 and 1.01, respectively. Similarly, the two commodities were also expected to be the basis commodities for the future with the average values of DLQ were 4.59 and 1.40, respectively.  The combined analysis of Location Quotient and Dynamic Location Quotient shows that both commodities will remain the basis crops for the present and the future whereas corn and cassava will remain non-basis commodities. The proportional growth of all food crops sub-sector commodities are positive as well as the regional share growth of corn. On the contrary peanuts, cassava and sweet potatoes are negative.

Abstract

The research aimed at determining the types of pathogen associated with bacterial leaf blight diseases of shallots. The bacteria were isolated and characterized based on the  morphological, biochemical and physiological morphology of their colony and cell.  There were eight isolates of pathogenic bacteria from pure culture.  Generally, the isolates have Gram-negative characters, short rod-shaped cells, have peritrikus flagellum and mucoid, yellow or beige colonies, round, convex or flat forms, and is shiny. The isolates react positively to catalase, urease, levan, indole production, and tween 8 tests. They also can live at temperature between 20 – 370C, pH 5 – 7 and tolerant to NaCl content ranging from 0 – 8.5%. The isolates react negatively to oxidases, reduce nitrates, fluorescent pigments, arginine, gelatin and starch.  Based on these characteristics, the isolates found generally have a closer resemblance to the properties of P. ananatis with a similarity coefficient of 88%  than bacteria X. axonopodis pv. allii with a similarity coefficient of 78%.  The symptoms appeared in the plant leaves were wilted (water soaked), shrinking, curving down, chlorosis, necrosis, and dieback.

Abstract

The domestic need of soybeans in Indonesia has yet to be met due to its low productivity. One effort to improve it is through the provision of rhizobium, NPK fertilizer and bokashi. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effects of rhizobium, NPK fertilizers and bokashi in peat soil on growth and yield parameters of soybean. The research used a two-factorial Randomized Block design (RBD) with three replicates.  The first factor was rhizobium (without and with rhizobium).  The rhizobium added was at a rate of 20 g legin/kg seed. The second factor is the rates of fertilizers (with no fertilizer added, 25 kg NPK/ha, 50 kg NPK/ha, 75 kg NPK/ha and 2 ton bokashi/ha).  The results showed that the interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 20 kg/ha was significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant but it was not significant on leaf number, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds and number of root nodules. The interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 50 kg/ha significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, number of root nodules but no significant effect on leaf number and weights of 100 seeds. The interaction of the rhizobium and the NPK fertilizer added at 75 kg/ha significantly affected plant height, number of pods per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seed pods per plant but no significant effect on leaf number, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds and number of root nodules. The interaction of the rhizobium and the bokashi significantly affected number of pods per plant, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant but no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, weight of 100 seeds and number of nodules.
