Abstract

This research was conducted in the experimental cage owned by CV. Prima BREED in Tondo Village, Mantikulore Subdistrict, Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province from March to June 2017. This research aims to find out the weight gain of dry matter consumption, the efficiency of dry matter use, body temperature, respiration frequency, and pusus frequency of Kacang goat and sheep which are given complete silage made from corn and king grass. The number of livestock used in this research was 12 female goats and 12 sheep aged ±  10 months. The environmental design used in this research was a 2 x 2 factorial pattern Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and repeated 6 times. The first factor is the type of livestock (goats and sheep). The second factor consists of two types of complete silage, namely P1 = complete silage made from forage corn and P2 = complete silage made from king grass. The results of the analysis of variance show that there is an interaction between types of livestock and complete silage on the consumption of dry matter, but there is no significant effect on body weight gain, efficiency in the use of dry matter rations, body temperature, respiration frequency and frequency of pulses. Goats have a significantly higher body weight gain, but body temperature and pulsus frequency are lower than sheep, however dry matter consumption, ration efficiency, and frequency of respiration do not show any significant differences. Complete silage do not show any significant differences in body weight gain, dry matter consumption of rations, the efficiency of use of dry matter of rations, body temperature, frequency of respiration, and frequency of pulses.

Abstract

Bright colors are one of the main attractions of ornamental fish. The brighter the color of the ornamental fish, the higher the value. However, during the maintenance of ornamental fish, the color often becomes dull, the quality of the color decreases so that the ornamental fish is no longer attractive. Therefore, the color must be increased by one of the efforts by providing feed containing certain pigments. One of the efforts made to get evenly bright colors in the fish is feeding carotene sources and supplements. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding carrot flour to commercial feed on the brightness level of Betta fish (Betta sp.). The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University from August-September 2020. The experimental design used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment A = without carrot flour, B = 48g, C = 50g D = 52g, E = 54g. The results obtained were that the addition of 54g carrot flour gave color enhancement to betta fish with an average score of 7,1.

Abstract

The reproductive nature of female tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) results in decreased growth of 10-20% per generation which is characterized by small body size, slow growth and rapid maturation of gonads. One effort that can be done is the application of the sex reversal method by increasing the number of male fish through masculinization by utilizing coconut water as a natural ingredient for synthetic hormone replacement because it has relatively complete nutrition, especially potassium (kalium) content which reaches 312 mg/100g. This study aims to determine the effect of using coconut water with different concentrations on the percentage of male tilapia produced. This study was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, treatment A (without coconut water), B (coconut water concentration 25%), C (coconut water concentration 35%) and D (coconut water concentration 45%). Data on the percentage of male sex were analyzed for variance (ANOVA) at the 95% confidence level and further tested by Duncan to see the effect between treatments. The results showed that the treatment of immersion in coconut water with different concentrations had a significant effect (<0.05) on the percentage of male sex of tilapia. The best percentage of male tilapia was immersed in coconut water with a concentration of 35% (treatment C), which was 86.87%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction between the concentration and time of the Neurospora sp. fungus on palm oil fermentation on the dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber content. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 3x3 factorial pattern, each treatment was repeated 2 times. The first factor was the concentration level of the fungus (0%, 5%, 10%) and the second factor was the fermentation time (48, 72, and 96 hours). The results of the analysis of variance showed that the interaction treatment between the concentration level of Neurospora sp. And the fermentation time of oil palm sludge had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the dry matter and crude protein content, while the crude fiber content had no significant effect (P> 0.05). ). Independently, the concentration level and time significantly affected the dry matter content, crude protein and crude fiber. The highest value of dry matter was obtained at a combination of 72 hours and a concentration of 10% (W3K10% = 66.323%) and for crude protein, namely 96 hours and a concentration of 10% (W3K10% = 21.430%), while in crude fiber there was a decrease in each time or concentration.
