Abstract

A study was undertaken on eight farmer groups at Poso District. The aim of the study was to evaluate the pattern growth of goat population given as a government support. The study was conducted for 2 months from July to September 2010. This study was consisted of a survey and direct interview with the goat farmers. Investigated variables were: a) livestock composition at initial population (adult male and female); and at the present time (adult male and female, young goat (>6 months old) and kits, b) rearing management for goat development such as breeding method, mating age, weaning age and birth interval to each of the involved farmer groups. In addition, other considered aspects were housing type, feeds and feeding interval and diseases. Results of the study indicated that: 1) technical coefficient of reproduction such as, weaning age, mating age, birth interval and breeding method did not follow the existing recommended technique on livestock reproduction, therefore the expected growth pattern of the goat population was not achieved; 2) housing system was good enough, only two groups (25%) of the 8 farmer groups has still used soil ground floor and the remaining 75% used stable stage; 3) all the farmer groups experienced with various (4-7) feedstuffs and different feeding intervals and techniques (1.5 – 2 times /day); and 4) high diseases invasion due possibly to feed availability, both qualitatively and quantitavely. Key words : Coefficient of reproduction technigue, operational management, and productivity.

Abstract

This experiment was aimed to examine the best plant spacing of Paspalum sp productivity that was fertilized with Arbuscular mycorrhizal in different plant spacing. The research was conducted in deer captivity area of Darmaga Research Forest, Forest Research and Development Center of The Ministry of Forestry. Model used was a randomized block design with 5 replications. The treatments were plant spacing, i.e. 30 x 30 cm, 40 x 40 cm, dan 50 x 50 cm. The results showed that Paspalum atratum grass fertilized by arbuscular mycorrhizal as 30 spore/5 kg soil by 40 cm × 40 cm plant spacing had the best production potential and nutritive value with the highest number of tillers( 30.80 at 30 DAP), shoot DM (88.76 g at 30 DAP), fresh weight (1021 g/m² at 30 DAP), DM content (11.10%), DM digestibility (57.88%), OM digestibility (53.74%), digested DM production (66.07 g), digested OM production (55.07 g), DM production (112.94 g), OM (101.19 g), and CP (12.26 g).Keyword: Plant spacing, Nutritive value, Arbuscular mycorrhizal, Paspalum atratum.

Abstract

Sea grass bed is an important ecosystem in coastal areas and small islands which plays important and effective roles as a protector of the coastal line and the safety of the mainland area of small islands. Physically, the roles of ecosystem were as erosion prevention, sediment trap and barrier of waves and currents. The existence of these ecosystems in the coastal regions and small islands was an important in enhancing the adaptive capacity of islands against natural disaster because the island serves as a natural protector. The aim of this research was to calculate and assess tha adaptive capacity of sea grass ecosystems growing in the waters of around the small islands in the group of Guraici. The research was conducted on 17 islands located in the group of Guraici islands. Measurement of adaptive capacity of sea grass ecosystem was done by analyzing 6 parameters, namely: Sea Grass Dimension Index (IDLn), Dominant Species of Sea Grass, Sea Grass Coverage Percentage (%), Number of Sea Grass Species, Substrate Type, Distance from The Point of Ecosystem. Sea Grass ecosystem adaptive capacity value was in the range between 0.0-1.0, with capacity of five categories of “very low, low, medium, high and very high”. These results indicated that sea grass ecosystem growing in the waters of around the islands in the island of group Guraici had adaptive capacity with values ranging between 0.0-0.59. The ranges of values were distributed into three categories of the adaptive capacities (very low, low and medium). A total of 13 islands had a capacity of sea grass ecosystem “medium”, the other three islands with capacity of “low” and one island with a capacity of “very low”.    Key words : Adaptive Capacity, seagrass ecosystem.

Abstract

The purposes of the research were to know the quality of cacao bulk on various time depth of fermentation. It was done in Rahmat of Palolo Sub-District, Donggala District.        The Research was set up in Randomized Block Design with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were ; (L0) without fermentation, (L1) 2 days, (L2) 4 days, (L3) 6 days, (L4)        8 days and (L5) 10 days fermentation time depth. The Result indicated that treatment fermentation time depth had effect on quality of kakao bulk and 6 days fermentation showed the best result from all of the treatments.  Even thought on the statistic, that treatment had little differ with 8 days fermentation. Key words: Quality, cacao, fermentation, time depth

Abstract

The study aims to determine the costs and business income of cattle workers in households in Alindau Village, Sindue Tobata District, Donggala Regency. The study was conducted in Alindau Village, Sindue Tobata District, Donggala Regency for one month (January 24 to February 26, 2016). Research data were collected through observation and interviews, with 17 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the total production costs incurred by working cattle breeders in Alindau Village, Sindue Tobata District, Donggala Regency amounted to Rp 5,897,352.94 / year with revenues of Rp. 27,261,176 / year so that an income of Rp 21,363,824 / year is obtained.

Abstract

This experiment was done to test the basal metabolism activities of Cirebon ducks, Manila ducks and Mule ducks. To measure the basal activities such as O2 consumption, CO2 production, respiration quotient (RQ) and heat production there were 20 Cirebon ducks, Manila ducks and mule ducks.  The measurement of three species was done three times, in which three ducks were measured at one week while another one was measured at four and eight weeks, respectively. Each measurement was replicated four times.  The design used way completely randomized design with four groups as replication while species of duck was used as treatment. The data collected were analyzed with analysis of variant. Statistically, there were no differences in O2 consumption, CO2 production, heat production and quotient respiration in all species of ducks.  However, biologically Cirebon duck in week four gained their energy from carbohydrate oxidation (93.6%) and from lipid (6.4%). Meanwhile, the Manila ducks and Mule ducks received all of their energy (100%) from carbohydrate oxidation (on week one, four and eight) and the Cirebon ducks which received all of their energy (100 %) from carbohydrate oxidation on week one and eight. Abstract

ABSTRACT The experimental study was carried out in Kassi-Kassi Village, Tamalate District, Makassar to study the effect of dekaform fertilizer and defoliation on the growth and production of okra.  The method of the study employed a Randomized Block Design with six treatments :i) Without dekaform and without defoliation; ii) one dekaform tablet and without defoliation; iii) two dekaform tablets and without defoliation; iv) without dekaform and with defoliation; v) one dekaform tablet and defoliation; vi) two dekaform tablets and defoliation.  The results showed that the treatment of two tablets and defoliation produced the largest plant height, number of pods per plant and production of young pods per hectare.

Abstract

The study was aimed at investigating the interacting effects of  Trichoderma sp. dosage and fermentation period on nutrient contents of cocoa pod. The work was carried out in Animal Feed and Nutrition Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, University of  Tadulako. The first factor was Trichoderma sp dosage (2 levels) while the second factor was period of fermentation (3 levels). Analysis of variance showed that there was no interacting effect between the two factors on all parameters observed, but there were significant effects of each of individual main factor. Period of fermentation affected dry matter, crude fibre and protein contents highly significantly (P<0.01) and ash and crude lipid contents signficantly (P<0.05). Dosage of Trichoderma sp. used in fermentation showed a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on dry matter content only. Key words : Cocoa pod, nutrient content, fermentation , ruminants.
