Abstract

Abstract

The reproductive nature of female tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) results in decreased growth of 10-20% per generation which is characterized by small body size, slow growth and rapid maturation of gonads. One effort that can be done is the application of the sex reversal method by increasing the number of male fish through masculinization by utilizing coconut water as a natural ingredient for synthetic hormone replacement because it has relatively complete nutrition, especially potassium (kalium) content which reaches 312 mg/100g. This study aims to determine the effect of using coconut water with different concentrations on the percentage of male tilapia produced. This study was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, treatment A (without coconut water), B (coconut water concentration 25%), C (coconut water concentration 35%) and D (coconut water concentration 45%). Data on the percentage of male sex were analyzed for variance (ANOVA) at the 95% confidence level and further tested by Duncan to see the effect between treatments. The results showed that the treatment of immersion in coconut water with different concentrations had a significant effect (<0.05) on the percentage of male sex of tilapia. The best percentage of male tilapia was immersed in coconut water with a concentration of 35% (treatment C), which was 86.87%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction between the concentration and time of the Neurospora sp. fungus on palm oil fermentation on the dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber content. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 3x3 factorial pattern, each treatment was repeated 2 times. The first factor was the concentration level of the fungus (0%, 5%, 10%) and the second factor was the fermentation time (48, 72, and 96 hours). The results of the analysis of variance showed that the interaction treatment between the concentration level of Neurospora sp. And the fermentation time of oil palm sludge had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the dry matter and crude protein content, while the crude fiber content had no significant effect (P> 0.05). ). Independently, the concentration level and time significantly affected the dry matter content, crude protein and crude fiber. The highest value of dry matter was obtained at a combination of 72 hours and a concentration of 10% (W3K10% = 66.323%) and for crude protein, namely 96 hours and a concentration of 10% (W3K10% = 21.430%), while in crude fiber there was a decrease in each time or concentration.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ginger flour on the productivity of quail eggs. This research has been carried out in the animal husbandry department of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University, South Sibalaya Village, Tanambulava District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, for 8 weeks, August 8 - October 3, 2020. The research material used 100 livestock. Layer phase female quails were obtained from previous research and quail seeds were obtained from the quail breeding group in Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, the levels of use of ginger flour were as follows: (P0: 0%; P1: 0.5%; P2: 1%; P3: 1.5%; and P4 : 2%). The variables observed were ration consumption (g), percentage of egg production (%) and ration conversion. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the use of ginger flour in the ration had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on ration consumption and ration conversion, and had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on egg production. Conclusion: from the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the best result is the provision of 1.5% ginger flour in the ration in terms of the percentage of egg production produced.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the experimental cage owned by CV. Prima BREED in Tondo Village, Mantikulore Subdistrict, Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province from January 15 to March 15, 2019. This research aims to find out the effect of expired instant noodles as a substitute for milled corn on body weight gain and the physiological status of Kacang goats. The number of livestock used in this research amounted to 15 local female goats aged ± 10 months with a body weight range between 9.92 to 19.25 kg. The environmental design used in this research was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 5 treatments and repeated 3 times as a group. The treatments that were tested were P1 = instant noodles to replace milled corn by 100% in a concentrate arrangement; P2 = Instant noodles replace milled corn by 75% in a concentrate arrangement; P3 = Instant noodles replace milled corn by 50% in a concentrate arrangement; P4 = Instant noodles replace milled corn by 25% in the concentrate arrangement and P5 = Instant noodles replace milled corn by 0% in the concentrate arrangement. The results of the analysis of variance show that replacing milled corn with expired instant noodle waste up to 100% in concentrate does not have a negative effect on body weight gain, dry matter consumption, ration efficiency, body temperature, respiration frequency, and pulses frequency of Kacang goats.

Abstract

Silk worms (Tubifex sp.) are a natiral food that is wederly used in larvae and fish seed hatchry in the aquaculture industry, with the use of silk worms which are still dominated by the catch of dialar so that there activities result in a decrease in production in nature while the demand for silk worms. It is quite high, one of the offerts to meet the availability of silk worms as natural food for the cultivation process, silkworm culture is crreid out. The succes of silk worm culture is detrmined by the culture media containing organic and non-organic  materilas such as fermented chichen manure, rice baran and tofu dregs. This study pims to deterimine the effect of using the substrate with the additon of termented chicken manure on the grouth of biomass and nutrient content of silk worms (Tubifex sp.). This study was conducted from August 2020 to October 2020 at the Laboratory of Water Quality and Aquatic Biology, Faculty of animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Tadulako University. Hammer. The silk worms that are cultured are silk worms taken from nature under the bridge II Palu Jl I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Tawanjuka, Kec. South Palu City. Central Sulawesi Province. This study was designed using a completely randomized design wiht 4 treatment of 5 replication  in order to obtain 20 experimental  units. Experiments were carried out to see the growth rate of biomass and nutrient content of silkworm (Tubifex sp.) from the culture  process on the substrate of fermented chiken manure, rice bran and tofu pulp. The results showed that the process of biomass growth and good nutritional content was found in the treatment where the amount of substrate was 50 g/L of fermented chicken manure, 50g tofu and 100g of rice bran.
