Abstract

Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding school is one of the Islamic educational institutions that pays attention toward the study of various religion. The curriculum section of Islamic Teachers Training Collage (ITTC) has set al-Adya>n book for class 5 of ITTC, in order to strengthen the aqeeda in the hearts of the students. The students have studied different teachings on other religions at the level of fifth grade of ITTC. The researcher tries to collecting the data by interviewing the sixth grade students of ITTC and their supervisors, filing questionnaires to the sixth grade students of ITTC, and direct observation by the researcher, as well as documentation on test scores on al-Adya>n class five of ITTC. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the role of al-Adya>n lesson in implant Islamic theology for class five of ITTC Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School on period 2016-2017. The above study shows that al-Adya>n has very big role in instilling Islamic aqeedah named the pillars of faith and practice such as praying fardhu in congregation, sunnah prayers such as rawatib prayer, hajat praying, dhuha praying, tahajud praying, and also fasting sunnah such as Monday and Thursday, and Daud fasting

Abstract

Interreligious marriage, especially in Indonesia, could make, a hard polemic in a society. It, In a beginning, was a social issue. But, suddenly, become an intellectual one. This issue, ussualy, comes from intelectual liberal Muslim. They build, in understanding Islamic law, especialy in a interreligious marriage, a contextual approach. It, so that, makes a anthropocentric thought and disobeying a vallue, in Islamic worldview. Hence, I would, as a writter, review reductionic arguments of intelectual liberal Muslim which was justified as freedom of interreligious marriage. I will, to achieve it, refiew their argumen and explain their inconsistent  in istinba>t} al-ah}ka>m. The result of this is discovered that interreligious marriage is rulled by Muslim or man in Islam who marries a woman of ahl kitab which is leaned to Islam and good moral. And not in otherwise. And the other result of this is known that marriage of sahabat by woman of ahl al kitab is enticed to Islamic teaching. So that interreligious marriage in Islam is not, as it claimed by the liberal Muslim, an antroposentic view but it is valuable by Islamic worldview.

Abstract

This article departs from the Freidrich W. Nietzsche's issue on misunderstanding of God. He ‎thought that God was the product of poets (human engineering results). Thus, disassembling the order of truth existing in modern era with his adagium “God Is Dead.” This provides a new discourse of thought, which ‎arises from an anti-God view i.e. “anti-Christ” and hatred of absolutism which result the ‎truth relativism. Nietzsche's ideas greatly influenced the mainstream of liberalist; among them are the students of State Islamic university of Indonesia who declare an ignorance expression of Islam is not only the true religion. More over their claim about the God-freezone institution when welcoming new students. It is surely inappropriate exclamation cames from Muslim students in the country with majority Muslim in the world. Their attitude is the result of a thought that has been affected with the thoughts of Friedrich Wilhm Nietzsche "God is death." This work attempts to elaborate Nietzsche’s influence toward those Muslim collegers as well as the basic thought of their acts. In order to achieve the purpose, the author does not forget to describe the concept of God in Nietzsche's view and its influence on liberal thinking.

Abstract

Wayang is tradition contains phylosophical values and great teachings. For Javanese people, wayang is not only as performance, but therein the life guidance. At the beginning, wayang was used as a media for worshipping to ‘Hyang’ (God) about 1500 BC. It was also used as medium for spreading the doctrine of Islamic teachings. Because of the closeness of wayang performance in the people’s heart, Walisanga made wayang as one of their da’wah medium. Among the famous preacher (da’i) that uses wayang was Sunan Kalijaga. In order to researcher used al-Nahl 16:125 as a cornerstone in looking at the method of da’wah according to Sunan Kalijaga, namely methods of da’wah bi al-h}ikmah, bi al-mauiz}ah al-h}asanah, and bi al-muja>dalah al-ah}san. The researcher found that da’wah performed by Sunan Kalijaga was to modificate the figures and the stories of wayang to be filled by Islamic values and phylosophical teaching, as described in the five figures of Pandawa as the representation of five tenets of Islam, they are Yudhistira (Syaha>dah), Bima (S}ala>t), Arjuna (Fasting Ramadhan), Nakula (Zaka>h) and Sadewa (H{ajj), as well as the figures of Punakawan, which represented people’s life and the way to face its obstacles which has not been exist before in Hindu era. Its represented by Semar, Gareng, Petruk, and Bagong. Thus, the figures of Pandawa and Punakawan influenced the people to finally embraced Islam.

Abstract

This article tries to discuss the concept of de-westernization of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and its relevancy toward Islamization of knowledge. De-Westernization is an effort which necessity to do to win the challenge in the knowledge field that caused by Western civilization nowadays. In brief, de-westernization is an identification, separation, and isolation process from the elements of Western in the body of knowledge. This process stood as the first step to treat the dilemma which is resulted by skepticism and relativism with Islamization of knowledge. However, Islamization of knowledge should be doing after investing the Islamic worldview and Islamization of language. Also should be identifying the elements of westernization before doing the de-westernization. Naquib al-Attas stated that the language is a reflection of the worldview of someone or some civilization. Moreover, language is put into the category of Islam according to its vocabulary. It should relate to vocabulary in Islam. The concept of de-westernization as a first step before going to Islamization of knowledge begins by setting Islamic worldview before because it has a big impact on the way of think. Thus, the writer tries to declare the concept of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and its relevancy toward Islamization of knowledge.

Abstract

This paper will analyze pragmatism in the political world in Indonesia. Pragmatism is a modern philosophical movement, it was initiated in United States, by C.S. Pierce who was inspired by Immanuel Kant. Pragmatism developed through the thoughts of some figures such as John Locke, Gorge Berkley, David Hume, William James and John Dewey. Pragmatism assumes that truth, meaning and the value of an idea must be based on practical aspects. Based on this assumption, the author has a hypothesis that what happens in the political world in Indonesia is full of pragmatism. At least this condition can be found in several important aspects such as; the attitude of those politicians that looks massively toward the elections, the party coalitions, while serving in government and the culture of political dynasties. This phenomenon describe that politics in Indonesia is in degradation of ethical values, even from the state of  ideology (Pancasila), norms of life and especially from the religious side. This pragmatic attitude is allegedly close to hedonism. The paper was completed with a literature review, by referring to the news about politics in Indonesia since 2009 until 2017. After reviewing an authoritative reference, the authors conclud that pragmatism was ingrained in the practice of political life in Indonesia. Indeed the practice of pragmatic politics is not hesitant to do by who has an interest in politics. Surely this will damage the order of life, and certainly also in the contrary to the values of religiosity, especially Islam as the teachings adopted by the majority of pragmatic political actors.

Abstract

The recent research of religious pluralism concludes that religious pluralism is basically originality from relativism to the equality of religions. This terminology presents to avoid the concept of the Truth Claim of religions. In the contemporary times, religious pluralism figures in Indonesia continue to develop religious pluralism from theological into practice. Due to the impact of pluralism on religiosity and social problem, it is necessary to analyze how pluralism may emphasis practical areas of Muslim community. The investigation focuses on discourses of mainstreaming religious pluralism in Islamic Higher Education Institution in Indonesia, maintaining dialogue and religious tolerance based on pluralism, building of tolerance, inclusivism, and multiculturalism. This research concludes that the two main institutions with more influences of religious pluralism are State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN Jakarta) and Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University of Yogyakarta (UIN Yogyakarta). These two institutions assumed have succeeded on building of pluralism and the society based on some approaches; by mainstreaming of religious pluralism among Muslim scholars in every level and building of religious dialogue and tolerance based on pluralism. In order to strength the movement of religious pluralism UIN Jakarta and UIN Yogyakarta dedicated to cooperate with several institutions; cooperation with local universities and abroad universities, join program and cooperation with non-governmental organizations in the development of inter religious studies. Therefore, this research finds out post religious pluralism as the discourses of practical areas of pluralism itself.

Abstract

The concept of science is related to epistemology, because epistemology is the theory of science. The problem in this modern century, discussion on epistemology suggests a dividing line between science and religion. All science must be empirical in nature, in which brings human understanding into nihilism, relativism and materialism, which is a milestone in the emergence of seculerism and other issues. Then, what is science according to Islam? What are the basic and primacy of it? How does Islam look at sources of right science? How the way of reaching it? Is there any classification of science in Islam? This paper will attempt to answer and discuss these questions clearly and pithily in Fakhr al-Din al-Razi’s perspective. In this regard, al-Razi sees that science is an understanding which delivered on the wisdom of anything, no doubt that science on ru>h}, further delivering on perfect happinest. In addition, in his book al-Tafsīr al-Kabīr, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi explains that science has a semblance of meaning with 30 other terms i.e. al-Idrāk, al-Syu'ūr, al-Tas}awwur, al-H}ifz}, al-Tadzakkur, al-Dzikr, al-Ma'rifah, al-Fahm, al-Fiqh, al-'Aql, al-Dirāyah, al-H}ikmah, 'ain al-Yaqīn, al-Dzihn, al-Fikr, al-H}adi>ts, al-Dzakā', al-Fat}a>nah, al-Khāt}ir, al-Z}an, al-Tanbīh, al-Khayāl, al-Badīhah, al-Auliyyāt, al-Ruwayyah, al-Kiyāsah, al-Khibrah, al-Ra'yu, al-Firāsah, and al-Bayyinah. From this brief exposure, in tries to discuss the uniqueness of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi thought about science concept using two approaches, philosophy and tafsir, to make it more interesting topic.
