Abstract

Marriage is a demographic matter which needs involvement of state, it deals with registration of marriage contract in order to get legitimation of law. Registration is an evidence of residence’s obedient toward state law (law No.23/2006 about demographic administration, law no.12/200about citizenship). However, in Samin’s community,marriage does not involved a state but based on the ancestors’ teaching and Samin’s principle of life.This study based on a grounded, ethnographic and phenomenologicalresearch, this can be categorized as a social-cultural research.Object of this study is phenomena of social and cultural of  Samin’s community in Kudus, specifically on marriage  based on adat. This study aims to know a practice of Samin’s marriage in Kudus, steps of marriage  including nyumuk, ngendek,nyuwito,  penyeksen, and tingkep. Such steps do not involve state’s roles even inmarriage contract.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the implementation of Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (School-Based Curriculum) in MTsN Yogyakarta II. Using descriptive qualitative method, the research successfully reveals that the MTsN II Yogyakrta provides some steps for implementing the School-Based Curriculum: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The first step, preparation, is started from making rules, regulations, technical guidelines and socialization, continued with organizing documents I and II of the curriculum. The second stage is the implementation of the School-Based  Curriculum itself. The result of the research shows that MTsN II Yogyakarta performs the curriculum according to the document I and document II. The last step is evaluation. Some supporting factors for the implementation of the curriculum are facilities and infrastructures, instructional media, teaching  materials, learning resources, and qualified human resources. While the  only inhibiting factor is the fact that some teachers find difficulties in applying  multi learning media.

Abstract

The dynamics of religious life in Surakarta is an interesting topic to be studied. Although this city is labeled as the home of radical Islamic groups in one side, this town has developed inter-religious harmony. This can be seen from the existence of mosque and church that are build side by side,  to name among those are; a mosque of Al-Hikmah with a church GKJ Joyodingratan, and a mosque sami'na with a church GBI Prosperous Diaspora. This study uses a qualitative method. There are two main findings of this research. Firstly, there is  tolerance initiated by the religious leaders. Secondly, there is cooperation, mutual assistance, and mutual respect in conducting worship. Furthermore, there is an inclusive attitude in practicing their religion, a wise and open attitude in dealing with activities held between nearby places of worship.

Abstract

Research on the Implementation of Religion Education was held at the special Ele- mentary School (SDLB) “Asuhan Kasih” in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of religion education at Orphanage SDLB “Asuhan Kasih” can run well. Despite this aspect of the teaching force is still not in accordance with the subjects being taught. It can be seen from a qualified religion teacher not as a religious teacher. Contributing factor in the lear- ning process is the higher spirit of in learning religion, dedication of religion teacher, the availability of classroom space, facilities and location are not far from the school environment for learners. Inhibiting factor in the learning process is the absence of special teachers to teach religious education, lack of teaching aids, lack of reference books, and a lack of operational funds.

Abstract

This research was generally based on an interesting phenomenon in 2006, when Merapi erupted. There was Maridjan’s rebellion as a royal servant to climb down from Merapi when Hamengkubuwono X as the king commanded him. The main questions were what were the factors of Maridjan’s resistances?; what were the forms of Maridjan capitals in this fighting?; and what did Maridjan get from the bet as the winner? The approach of this research was anthropological perspective using participatory observation and analyzed by qualitative method. To get data, researcher lived in Maridjan’s house for several months in Merapi. The findings of the study were there was Maridjan’s resistance which was interpreted as a fighting created by media. The second was Maridjan’s resistance supported by two capital powers; the cultural power as the Merapi’s caretaker and the discourse capital supported by the media. The third was Maridjan won the bet by getting the prestige in his social status either popularities or wealth.

Abstract

Masjid Besar Kauman Semarang which is simply called as Masjid Besar Kauman is an ancient mosque in Central Java which has various characteristics: Javanese,Persian  and Arabian.Considering the model of the roof, the  mosque exposesits Javanese characteristics; even its triple overlapping roof  with the mustaka on the top reminds us to the Masjid Agung Demak. On the  other hand, looking at its gate the mosque belongs to Persian and Arabian  characteristics.  The mosque which was founded by Kyai Adipati Surodimenggolo II is a series of historical development of the mosque in Semarang.  In a short time, unfortunately, the mosque was on fire. In  23 April 1889 the mosque was rebuilt by G.I. Blume and Raden Tumenggung Cokrodipuro and by 23 November 1890 the rebuilding of the mosque completely finished. Suchinformation can be seen in the inscription on the sculpture at the mosque gate.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the religious elite view of pluralism and religious harmony in  Malang. The study was focused on the meaning of pluralism and religious harmony, efforts  and things that support and hinder the realization of religious harmony. Empirical research  data with qualitative-phenomenological approach was collected through interviews and documentation. The results show: first, the meaning of religious pluralism for the religious elites is very varied, which is the same as tolerance, mutual respect, the goal of all religions are the same, and recognize the fact that there are many religions in this world. Second, religiousharmony have meaning as a condition where there is no oppression and domination of one religion over other religions, awakening a deep awareness of diversity, respect for human rights, and the willingness to spread kindness and love for fellow human beings. Third, religious harmony can be achieved through internal efforts to strengthen the faith of each and build awareness to develop a positive attitude towards other religions. In external efforts to create harmony done through emancipatory dialogue and cooperation to resolve humanitarian issues. Fourth, positive attitude that supports the creation of harmony of religions is the willingness and awareness to understand each other and share experiences. Egoism, truth claims, fanaticism, and exclusivism is a negative attitude and expression recognized by the religious elite can interfere with the establishment of inter-religious harmony.

Abstract

Islamic mysticism has colored the development of West Borneo literature, either pre- modern or modern literature. Sastra kitab is a form of pre-modern Islamic mysti- cism, whereas modern literature has been acostumed to form of Islamic mysticism in modern era. Islamic mysticism and literature has had mutual relationship to develop the discourse themselves. West Borneo that had deep correlation with Malay culture could not be free from Islam due to the identical of Malay and Islam. Acculturation of Malay-Islam has given significant influence for Malay culture, including Islamic mysticism literature that has developed discourse of West Borneo Literature. There- fore, Islamic mysticism literature as one side of globally frame of Islam that has given influence within Malay culture were needed to be researched to show the spirituality of West Borneo literature. Furthermore, methodological frame has had to apply as a scientific step to know West Borneo Islamic mysticism literature. This study uses library and field research in order to collect and describe the data.

Abstract

This paper is a summary of the research conducted in the province of Special Region of Yogyakarta, and put people in the Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency and Kulonprogo Regency as sample. This research aimed to discribe people’s perception of the of kiai (Islamic scholars) in the field of empowerment for improving the quality of religious life and increasing religious harmony in Special Region of Yogyakarta. The analysis results showed that the kiai has considerable role for improving the religious diversity among community and improve the quality of religious harmony. The public view on the dimension of beliefs, rituals and social very negative an relatively small. This reality showed that Yogyakarta people’s religious knowledge was quite diverse, so there is a different perception. People’s perception of the role of kiai in improving the quality of religious life and religious harmony based on the social background of respondents of all categories, respondents said that kiai have positive role.

Abstract

This study is intended to know the impact of implementing two differentcurricula in Islamic-based senior high schools in Malang, East Java. Usingtwo-way anova method, this study reveals three important facts. Firstly, thereis significantly different religious behaviour of pupils who are taught islamiceducation curriculum from Ministry of National Education from those whoare taught based on the Islamic education curriculum “plus”. Secondly, thereis important difference on religious behaviour of students of the X, XI and XII.The last, the implementation of islamic education in both schools which implementIslamic education curriculum from Ministry of National Education and Islamic  education curriculum “plus” runs well. This study finally arrives at a conclusion that, in terms of religious behaviour,  students of those schools which implement curriculum “plus” are much better than those of the other category.
