Abstract

This research examines how the use of symbols and signs of popular culture in the prodemocracy movement in Thailand in 2020 is aimed at mobilizing the public and influencing the narratives of contemporary political movements. Through building theories on mass culture and democratic participation, this study reveals that popular culture facilitates the emergence of contemporary movements through the adoption of the three finger salute from The Hunger Games and the slogan "He Who Must Not Be Named" from Harry Potter used by the pro- democracy so that it places how social movements adhere to popular culture in drawing the artistic framework of making state repression read into perceived injustice, and how civil participation in the public space is transformed as a demand against the Thai government.

Abstract

This study aims to determine voting behavior in the state of Arizona in the 2020 United States presidential election. In the election process, what factors affect voter behavior in Arizona, basically there are many factors that can influence people's choices. This study uses the literature review method obtained from secondary data analysis. There are several findings as follows: Voter behavior in the state of Arizona in the 2020 United States presidential election is influenced by several factors including sociological factors, psychological factors and rationality factors. Abstract

Media sosial merupakan salah satu media yang memudahkan masyarakat dalam berbagai atau mendapatkan informasi. Dalam dunia politik, para aktor politik saat ini mulai memanfaatkan media sosial untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan masyarakat dan membangun image di mata masyarakat. Pembentukan branding politik yang dilakukan aktor-aktor politik melalui media sosial diharap akan membentuk persepsi masyarakat terhadap dirinya dan memudahkan mereka untuk melakukan komunikasi politik. Disamping itu, biaya dari penggunaan media sosial dalam membentuk branding politik tentunya lebih murah. Jaya Negara merupakan salah satu aktor politik yang menggunakan media sosial khususnya Instagram untuk berinteraksi dengan masyarakatnya. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menjelaskan mengenai pengaruh media sosial dalam komunikasi politik dan media sosial sebagai sarana pembentukan branding oleh Jaya Negara dalam melakukan kampanye pada pilkada 2020. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode literature review yang diperoleh dari analisis data-data sekunder. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Jaya Negara sukses dalam membangun branding politiknya dengan menggunakan brand strategy yang terdiri dari brand positioning, brand identity dan brand personality. Dalam menganalisis respon baik masyarakt terhadap branding yang dibagun oleh Jaya Negara melalui media sosial penulis menggunakan metode five stage development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form and utilization of social capital possessed by newcomer legislative candidates, namely I Gusti Nyoman Bagus Triyana Putra, in the 2019 general election so that he gets a large number of votes by using the social capital theory from David Putnam. Based on the findings of the data obtained, it can be concluded that social capital which includes networks, beliefs, and norms is indeed owned by Triyana Putra and plays a very important role so that it gets great support from the community, with the involvement of community leaders who make sabha desa to fully support Triyana Putra as a candidate for legislative representative from the Bebalang Traditional Village. In addition, there is a big influence from Triyana Putra's closeness to the political elite and also the full support of his party, the Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan. So that Triyana Putra was elected with the highest vote acquisition in Constituency 1 Bangli with 5,292 votes.

Abstract

This research examines the behavior of voters in California in the 2020 United States Presidential Election. This analysis will then try to understand American Voters in making the final decision so that they can determine their choice and give voting rights to one candidate. California is the area of the US that has the most electors, namely 55 electors, which is caused by its population density. With this, the voting behavior of California residents has a considerable influence in determining the electoral college's victory. This behavior of US voters tends to hold one-way beliefs. Sets its vote on one representative from a party. Factors from this sociological approach play a major role in voters in the US, both due to environmental, family, and psychological factors of the voters. In addition, voters in America can also be influenced by personal interests which weigh the advantages and disadvantages of individual voters' decisions. Abstract

This study attempts to describe how the rejection of the parking retribution portal in Serangan Village will be carried out in 2021. The author uses conflict theory to portray how Ralf Dahrendorf argues that conflict involves a struggle to obtain rare goods from a resource. This theory aptly describes that conflicting interest groups compete for power. In this research, we will examine in more depth the forms of resistance based on conflicts that occur between authorities and the public as the object of implementation of a policy. Methods This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive-explanative type of research in which data collection techniques were carried out using in-depth interviews with stakeholders in Serangan Village. From this study it was found that the rejection was made by two banjars which disputed the parking portal policy, which was in accordance with Ralf Dahrendorf's theory regarding the struggle for resources in this case study was the interest in the portal installation program in Serangan Village which occurred due to lack of socialization, inappropriate program implementation and there is a mismatch of communication between local policy makers.Keywords: Rejection, Conflict, Serangan Village

Abstract

This research looks at how a political actor in an incumbent position must lose to a new candidate in the simultaneous village head election (Perbekel) in Denpasar City, North Denpasar District, Dangin Puri Kangin Village. In practice, the average winner in general elections, if an incumbent candidate participates again, it is likely that the candidate probably win. The author looks at the actions of each village head candidate (Perbekel) who competed in the Dangin Puri Kangin village head election in 2019, while the names of the candidates are I Wayan Sulatra, S.T and Ir. I Gusti Ngurah Putrawan. Through several theories, namely political communication, political marketing and social capital, the author looks at the background of the incumbent candidate's loss and the key points of the winning candidates. Proximity to the village community is the main capital for candidates for village head elections, every community process in the village, especially the village of Dangin Puri Kangin causes village head candidates who are closer to the village community to have a higher chance of winning. The author sees and finds a uniqueness in this election, namely that the victory in the election does not always go to the incumbent candidate and does not rule out the possibility of a winner from outside the incumbent or someone who is not from the background of the previous government.

Abstract

The issue of discrimination is still relevant in various parts of the world in this contemporary era. It is undeniable that history plays an important role in how the construction of discrimination can stand firm to this day. One World War II actor, Adolf Hitler, in his various speeches and writings, spread his belief in the purity and superiority of the German race which was believed to be the ruling race / Arya (master race). Meanwhile, in this contemporary era, the 45th president of the United States of America Donald Trump also discriminates against minority identity groups in the United States. This is supported by Donald Trump's policies and several statements containing discriminatory elements during his term as president of the United States of America. The construction of domination of an identity group like what Trump is trying to do is based on political interests. Through power over access, the economy, and social structure will be formed as this also creates gaps against minority identity groups. Keywords: Discrimination, Donald Trump, Identity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the political marketing strategy used in the 2020 Jember Regency Regent Election campaign by one of the candidates for regent, Hendy Siswanto. In the process, campaign, a political marketing strategy is basically needed to build character and characteristics of the candidates. This study used a qualitative descriptive method through a literature review obtained from secondary data analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the establishment of political branding by Hendy Siswanto focused on utilizing social media as a marketing medium. In addition, characteristics were also found based on three steps that must be carried out in political branding: brand identity (identity), brand image (image), and brand position (reputation).
