Abstract

In a democratic party, it is one of the political phenomena, in which political candidates compete to present various kinds of political communication strategies that can attract people. This study aims to see how the phenomenon of political communication was carried out by I Putu Alit Yandinata, S.S. in the 2019 legislative elections. Alit Yandinata's victory for three periods attracted the attention of researchers in studying the phenomenon of political communication that he carried out during the campaign period. By using a descriptive qualitative method, this study also tries to find out what patterns were used in the campaigns carried out by Alit Yandinata. The results of this study indicate that the use of media can help improve effective political communication, either through social media (such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube) or conventional media (such as billboards). Apart from that, understanding demographics and a clear target audience supported by party popularity are other aspects that help create an effective political campaign. Abstract

This study aims to find out how the ownership and distribution of capital is so that Incumbent Indah Dhamayanti Putri can win again in the regional head elections in the Bima district in 2020. In looking at the ownership and distribution of capital the researcher uses the theory of capital by Pierre Bourdieu which explains that there are three four capitals, namely capital social capital, economic capital, political capital and symbolic capital. In this study using the literature review research method with the aim of discussing literature related to or related to certain topics. The findings are as follows: First, the social capital owned is in the form of hereditary factors from the Bima sultanate. Second, his political capital, when he was chairman of the Bima Regency DPRD from the Golkar party. Third, the economic capital from LHKPN data is 14.8 billion Rupiah. Fourth, its symbolic capital as part of the Bima sultanate so that it is close and familiar to the people as well as acceptance from the Bima people. Keywords: Incumbent, local elections, capital

Abstract

This study describes the forms of resistance carried out by traders on the edge of Berawa Beach, Tibubeneng Village, against the implementation of Badung Regency Government policies. Tibubeneng Village is one of the tourism villages in Badung district, so that many problems regarding the scope of the tourism sector occur in this village. This research was conducted in Tibubeneng Village, especially in Berawa Beach, using descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the research found that the implementation of the Badung Regency Government policy regarding controlling traders on the Berawa Beach met with resistance. With the existence of resistance, it cannot be separated from the factors behind the thoughts and actions of the traders, namely internal factors that can be seen from how the traders feel as local residents of Tibubeneng Village and the economic conditions of the traders, while external factors come from how the traders see opportunities, the strategic location of the area , and traders into a unified group. As for the forms of resistance carried out by traders on the edge of Berawa Beach, namely continuing to use semi-permanent buildings to sell, being indifferent, feeling afraid of traders until there is intervention, and as if accepting government policies. In James C. Scott's theory of resistance regarding the concept of everyday forms of resistance, namely resistance that is mediocre but occurs continuously. This concept can be seen in the forms of resistance from Berawa Beach traders.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research attempts to trace the emergence of the It’s A Dress Not A Yes phenomenon in Indonesia through Agri Merinda’s activism in her Instagram uploads. The researcher wants to analyze the form of Agri Merinda’s activism related to this phenomenon in the polemic context of Sexual Violence’s Draft Law in Indonesia. This research uses the structuralism-constructive theory of Pierre Bourdieu, thus theory is important to explored emergence of Agri Merinda’s activism using concepts such as habitus, field, capital, and doxa which consists of heterodoxy and orthodoxy. This research uses the non-participant observation method, with research results: firstly, the emergence of Agri Merinda’s activism related to It’s A Dress Not A Yes phenomenon can be traced through the history of her education and experiences. The success of Agri Merinda’s habitus emerged through the accumulation of her capitals. Secondly, this research has answered the position of It’s A Dress Not A Yes phenomenon in the polemic of Sexual Violence’s Draft Law in Indonesia. Abstract

This research seeks to explain behavior patterns of first-time voters using media as a source of information to increase their awareness about elections in urban areas. Generations, New Media, and Uses & Gratification Theory were applied for the research. A descriptive quantitative is an appropriate method for this research. For sampling technique used is simple random sampling and data were acquired by disseminating questionnaires. Denpasar is a suitable city for this research because Denpasar was the provincial capital of Bali with the highest internet penetration rate. This research tries to see how Generation Z in urban areas uses the internet in various aspects, including elections. The results appear that technology is a common thing for Generation Z in Denpasar city, they choose the internet as a trusted medium for finding and learning about elections and politics at both regional and national. This research also showed that the apathy assumption was refused because first-time voter Denpasar had an interest in political participation

Abstract

The research entitled “Fan Activism: Manifestations of Fandom Activism in the Climate Justice Movement” seeks to examine the understanding and strategies of the Kpop4planet movement from 2021 to 2022 in a qualitative descriptive way. Based on research with Henry Jenkins' perspective on fan activism, it seeks to analyze how fan activism is built within this movement. Fandoms offer a space to network, gather knowledge, and practice skills that can later be used for political change. This study reveals that the Kpop4planet movement is a global climate justice movement that calls on the K-pop industry in South Korea to take climate action. The movement is an embodiment of how fan activism is turned on and K-pop music fans as a force for climate justice change, and in general exemplifies what alternative political culture can be. Mobilization around the fandom occurs, fandom develops a grassroots communication system so as to create a communication network that expands the scale and speed of fan interaction, enabling a rapid and global response to evolving conditions.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how patronage clientelism and political modularity are in the 2019 legislative elections in Abiansemal District. This study is framed using the theory of patronage clientelism and theory of modular parties as an analytical tool for the problems in this research. The research method used in this research is qualitative descriptive research with primary and secondary data usage, because it describes and illustrates phenomena that exist, both natural and human engineering, which pay more attention to the characteristics, quality, interrelationships between activities in relation to patronage relationships. and modular in legislative elections.The results of this study are: first, the relationship between actors and voters (patron-client) tends to function as a use for candidate identification and vote-seeking based on kinship relationships and reciprocal relationships between actors and voters. Second, Ni Luh Sekarini used the role of brokers and parties (modular parties) in the process of winning through mass mobilization. Abstract

One of the factors that influence good and bad governance lies in the bureaucracy. whether the bureaucracy is good or bad depends on the quality of the human resources of its apparatus, namely the state civil apparatus. the concept of New Public Management has begun to be implemented in Indonesia, one of which is Bali. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research technique by collecting various existing data. The implementation of the New Public Management is in the form of bureaucratic reform of the Bali provincial government with various new programs that are more modern, effective and efficient. The Provincial Government of Bali is of the opinion that the increase in the level of success in implementing bureaucratic reform in 2021 illustrates the success of the Provincial Government of Bali in implementing New Public Management in the form of Bureaucratic Reform. Abstract

The study analyzed voter behavior in the 2020 United States presidential election and the factors influencing the shift in voter preferences in Joe Biden's favor. This study uses qualitative and exploratory research methods to understand the phenomenon of voter behavior in a natural social context. The results showed that there was a significant shift in voter preferences in the 2020 US presidential election. Some of the factors influencing this shift include changing attitudes and views towards candidates, relevant campaign issues, anti-Trump sentiment, perceptions of COVID-19 handling, racial and social issues, and high voter participation. In addition, this study also analyzes the theory of voter behavior in the context of the 2020 US presidential election. Sociological approaches, psychological approaches, and rational choice approaches (economic voting) are used to explain voter behavior in choosing candidates. This approach helps understand how factors such as party identification, perceptions of candidates, and rational considerations influence voter behavior. In conclusion, the 2020 United States presidential election was influenced by various factors including social context, political ideology, sentiment towards candidates, campaign issues, handling of the pandemic, racial and social issues, and voter participation. A deeper understanding of voter behavior and the factors that influence it can help analyze presidential elections and democratic processes in the United States.

Abstract

In the presidential election system in Indonesia, there is a concept of threshold or Presidential Threshold which regulates the minimum amount of support needed to nominate a presidential candidate. The law stipulates that political parties must propose pairs of such candidates. There are several arguments often presented by critics against the application of thresholds in presidential elections, both for and against. The application of this threshold has an impact on political parties. The research method used in this study is qualitative research with a library research approach. The type of data used is secondary data which is then analyzed using data reduction and conclusions are drawn. The result of this study is that there are pro and con views emerging regarding this threshold. Some consider it necessary to strengthen political parties and presidential systems of government, while others see it as a violation of the constitutional rights of political parties.
