Abstract

The treatment of mesiodens for children has to be done completely and continuously. Management of the treatment of mesiodens teeth can be done by extraction or without extraction. Diastema central can be closed earlier by using orthodontic appliance after extracting mesiodens teeth for children.

Abstract

Restorative materials is one of materials that always be used in dentistry. Restorative materials can improve and restore damaging tooth structure. Restorative materials can be devided in two groups. Those were plastic and rigid restorative. All of restorative materials have special properties, so they have different advantage anddisadvantage. Aim of this study is to inform about rigid restorative post endodontic treatment. Rigid restorative can be made in out oral cavity and cemented.

Abstract

We have done docking molecule on chalcones derivatives that bind to antibacterial gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis ) and negative (Escherichia coli) compared with chalcones derivatives and chloramphenicol antibiotic. Chalcone derivatives compounds have been synthesized by varying the methoxy groups in chalcone structure. The results showed that chalcone derivatives have antibacterial activity in inhibition of Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli that were better than lead compound (chalcone) and chloramphenicol. The results can be viewed from Moldock and Rerank score that has lower energy. The results differ from in vitro study in 1 - (4-Bromo-phenyl) -3 - (4-phenyl-methoxy)-2-propen-1-on and 1-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-3-(3.4-dimethoxy-phenyl)-2-propen-1-on compounds as antibacterial activity in gram-negative bacteria (E. coli) and gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis) were smaller activity than chloramphenicol. Because of derivatives chalcones was very large lipophylic value (log P>2), these will decrease the activity. In addition, if these were viewed hydrogen bonds on Molegro Virtual Docker between chalcone derivatives and binding of bacterial amino acids, ie Lys 411, Ser 299, Ser 52, and Thr 412 in Bacillus subtilis and Tyr 136 and Tyr 52 in Escherichia coli provide less harmonious interaction within complex binding than that of chloramphenicol.

Abstract

Obesity rate is increasing from year to year, both men and women in the group and increase the level of obesity is due to changes in lifestyle, especially diet. Obesity plays a major risk factor of chronic diseases, chronic diseases and various forms of oral cancer. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammation in the tissues supporting the teeth. The purpose of this paper would like to know the relationship of obesity to periodontal disease. Obesity is likely to suffer from diabetes mellitus approximately three times more than that is not obese. The main complications of diabetes mellitus is periodontal disease. People who are obese have a possibility of periodontal disease in the oral cavity. The conclusion is an association between obesity and periodontal disease occur in the oral cavity.

Abstract

The masticatory system is part of stomatognatic systems that is a functional unit composed of the teeth, the temporomandibular joints, the muscles involved directly or directly in mastication (including the muscles of the lips and tongue) and the nervous systems supplying these tissues. Mastication is the action of breaking down of food, preparatory to deglutition. This breakingdown action is highly organized complex of neuromuscular and digestive activities. Functional and structural disturbance in any one of the components of the masticatory system may be reflected by functional or structural disorders in one or more of its other components. Therefore, it is important that dentists know how mastication normally occurs. This knowledge should ensure that dental procedures improve, rather than reduce, patient's functional abilities.

Abstract

Inflammation chronic diseases in gingiva and periodontium tissue cause destruction of alveolar bone. Periodontopathy bacteria cause periodontal tissue destruction by host cell activating system, such as prostaglandin. PGE2 induce bone resorption and MMP secretion (Academic report, 1999). Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is formed as a result of the metabolism of arachidonic acid. It participates in inflammatory response. Prostaglandin cause alveolar bone destruction by osteoclast activating. Beside it, it enhance calcium metabolism.

Abstract

Bone has natural repair mechanism, but there are some critical sized defects which will not allow the tissues to regenerate themselves. The clinical success of bone graft is dependent on the formation of an intimate contact between the material surface and mineralized tissue. Osteoblast attachment, proliferation and differentiation must be optimized in order for the mineralization, necessary for this intimate contact to occur. One of the bioceramics are frequently used in biomedical applications as a bone graft is a hydroxyapatite. Hydroxyapatite is a popular bone substitute material. The composition of hydroxyapatite crystals have an overview identical to hydroxyapatite in bone. This material is biocompatible, osteoinductive and osteoconductive, thus hydroxyapatite can be a medium for osteoblast to growth and improve the bone healing process.

Abstract

The purpose of orthodontic treatment is to correct dental malocclusion, which involved periodontal tissue remodeling process. Removable orthodontic appliance application was resulted a tipping tooth movement. Therefore, this research will develop a new orthodontic appliance design which is expected to generate closely to bodily tooth movement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incisor tooth movement using a new orthodontic appliance design with different mechanical force applications. 28 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups, a control group without orthodontic appliances (K), experimental group with 10 grams force (grf) of orthodontic appliances (P1), 20 grf (P2), and 30 grf (P3). Incisor distance measurement and roentgenogram evaluation were performed after seven days of orthodontic appliances application. The results of this study showed that the largest distance of incisor seen in P3 group and there is not a statistically significant difference between P1 and P2. Roentgenogram evaluation shows that all of orthodontic appliance force produced a bodily tooth movement.

Abstract

The use of ceramic as the material of denture fabrication is highly desirable because it provides excellent result of final treatment such as hardness resembling to enamel, not easily degraded, esthetically close to genuine color of teeth, stable and translucent. Basically, dental ceramics consist of materials which are generally considered inactive; however, porcelain hides some danger towardthe certain groups of people especially related to dental field such as dentists, dentist assistants, and laboraory groups of people necessarilly contact with the materials used in treatment, sush asceramics. Therefore, these groups are likely contacted with this materials more frequently and in higher dose, thus their risk of side-effect is also greater.

Abstract

Public Health Center is a functional organization that organizes health effort that is comprehensive, integrated, equitable, acceptable and affordable to the public. Performance of health workers in govermment health care organizations is still low. Coverage of patients in dental clinics that are low performing dentist is not optimal. The research aims to find the services provided by the dentist at the health center Sumbersari in the period January to June 2012.
