Abstract

Lower third molar present potential problems when they are misaligned. The angulation of lower third molar impacted in relation to axis of the second molar (vertical, distangular, mesioangular and horizontal etc Winter’s classification) themselves. Aim of study is to compare the difficulty of removal impacted lower third molar vertical angulation vs mesioangular angulation Winter’s classification. Material and Methods: 100 patients with impacted lower third molar were divided into two groups, consisting of 74 patients mesioangular position, and 26 vertical position. Classification all patients were class IIA Pell and Gregory classification, catagory 1 (straight root) Thoma  classification, catagory 1 (erupted root) Killey and Kay classification, category 1 (removal of tooth with partial bony impaction) AAOMS classification and mouth opening interincisal (MOI) higher than 35 mm They were removed impacted lower third molar by author with dental nursing and OR nursing. The duration of removal impacted third molar was determined from make flap until the tooth out from socket. Result: Mean of duration of removal impacted lower third molar vertical position was 17.68 minutes, and that mesioangular position was 17.14 minutes. There was not significant difference duration of removal impacted third molar between vertical position and mesioangular position (p> 0.05)

Abstract

Mental retardation or commonly known as Mental Retardation (RM) is characterized by general intelligence functions that are below average and is accompanied by reduced ability to adapt or behave in adaptive. As a result of the disorder can affect the growth and development. The purpose of this study was todetermine the nutritional status of patients with RM. This study is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional data retrieval. The study population is students SLB Dharma Wanita Sidoarjo regency. Large study sample was 37 students were randomly taken proportionately based on the severity of the RM. The data retrieved are age, TB and BB. Further data are calculated using the nutritional status of index TB / U and BB / U based on the size of the Z-score WHO NCHS. Analysis of the data using Kruskal Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test. Statistical test results showed that there are significant differences in the examination of TB / U in 3 groups of RM. But on examination BB / U data analysis showed no significant difference. Furthermore, the data TB / U were analyzed again using the Mann-Whitney test and found that there are significant differences between mild to RM medium and heavy. There is no official standard measure of nutritional status of patients with RM, so that the measurement is compared to the size of the WHO standard. In anthropometry, most RM patients included in the normal range and tend to be obese. RM moderate and severe sufferers tend to be different, because the more complex as well etiology factors consequences thereof. There is a possibility RM or RM is experiencing severe disruption due to thelinear growth factor complex

Abstract

Dental fluorosis is a health condition caused by a child receiving too much fluoride during tooth development. Excessive fluoride can cause white spots, and in severe cases, brown stains or pitting or mottling of enamel. Dental fluorosis can be cosmetically treated by a dentist. The cost and success can vary significantly depending on the treatment. Tooth bleaching, microabrasion, and conservative composite restorations or porcelain veneers are commonly used treatments. Generally speaking, bleaching and microabrasion are used for superficial staining, whereas the conservative restorations are used for more unaesthetic situations.

Abstract

There has been dramatic progression in the adhesion of dental adhesives and resins to enamel and dentin in the 40 years since Buonocore1 introduced the technique of etching enamel with phosphoric acid to improve adhesion to enamel. The first dental adhesives bonded resins to enamel only, with little or no dentin adhesion. Subsequent generations have dramatically improved bond strength to dentin and the sealing of dentin margins while retaining a strong bond to enamel. The widespread demand for, and use of, dental adhesives has fuelled an intensive development of better and easier dental adhesives in rapid succession; dentists have literally been inundated with successive “generations” of adhesive materials. There are seven generatios in bonding agent and have a different characteristics. This article discusses the progression of dental adhesives up to the last generation.

Abstract

One source of drinking water used by the public is the water coming from local water company. One is the water content in flour. The content of fluorine in drinking water must comply with the limit. Flour is an essential element because of its role in bone mineralization and hardening tooth enamel. Shortage of flour in the water can cause dental caries, and if the excess flour can cause spots on tooth enamel formation occurs at the time of the email (fluorosis). For it is necessary for the measurement of fluorine content of drinking water. Measurement of tissue levels of flour local water company in the study was conducted at nine locations including sources of water, well pump, and installation of network local water company in District Sumbersari Jember. Data from these measurements are presented in spatial and non spatial. To give an idea of spatial levels of network taps flour is used geographic information system-based Google Earth. The results of measurements of fluoride levels in drinking water local water company in the District Sumbersari Jember obtained the average 0.18 ppm.

Abstract

Candida albicans infection is a fungal infection that most often encountered in the clinic and often recurrent. C. albicans infection remains a significant clinical problem. C. albicans can cause severe infection in mucosal and systemic, especially in patients with immunological disorders. Pathogenesis of C. albicans infection through the development of the virulence factors and specific strategies for success in colonization, infection of thehost tissue. The purpose of this paper is to describe the role of virulence factors in pathogenesis of C.albicans infection. In C. albicans infection, the role of virulence factors are very important, in addition to the role of an impaired immune status. Some virulence factors involved in infection of C. albicans are phenotypic switching, dimorfims morphology, adhesion, secretion of hydrolytic enzymes and others.

Abstract

Background. Fish scales are the waste that has not been utilized optimally. Fish scales in industrial scale(derived from fish fillet industry) can be utilized as a source of collagen, whereas in the household is usually justthrown away. Fish scales containing proximate, calcium, chitin, alkaloids, steroids, saponins, phenols hydroquinone, molisch, benedict, biuret and ninhydrin allegedly can be used as a stimulant of bone regeneration after toothextraction. Expected fish scales can provide a solution as a material that can accelerate the regeneration ofalveolar bone after tooth extraction are cheap, easily available and effective. The aim of this study was to know thepotential of fish scales as a material that can accelerate the healing process of soft tissues of the oral cavity, dentineand alveolar bone regeneration. The benefits of this study was this article can be used as a reference for studiesutilizing fish scales as a material that can accelerate the healing process of soft tissue, hard tissue regeneration, ofcourse its cheap and easily obtainable. Discussion. Content of fish scales were similar to bone and also containsome property that have the potential as an antimicrobial. The antimicrobial properties of fish scales indicate qualifyas dental materials. The mechanism of healing of soft tissue of fish scales allegedly played by the alkaloids, steroids, saponins, phenols hidrokuinone, which can modulate immune cell activity. The others were suspected to regulatethe content of odontoblast activity, osteoblasts and osteoclasts and fibroblasts. The conclusion of this review that fishscales could potentially accelerate healing of soft tissues of the oral cavity, dentine and alveolar bone regeneration.
