Abstract

Leather dyestuffs can be divided into the two main classes i.e. naturaland synthetic dyestuffs. Natural dyestuffs, that are obtained from animal or vegetable-matter. Synthetic dyestuffs can be prepared synthetically. The best dyestuffs consist of leather affinity and dyes. If the leather is not reactioned perfectly with dyes who is not suitable, it will be difficulty, for example pale colour, is not good shade, in equal dyestuffs etc.

Abstract

Recently the use of plastic packaging is become avoided because their waste will create environmental problem. As an alternative choice the use of biodegradable plastic packaging has been developed Research on biodegradable plastic has been carried out to study the effect of water content and kind of plasticizer on mechanical properties of the biodegradable plastic made from corn starch and polyvinyl alcohol. The result shows that water can increase the elongation of the plastic, but on the other hand it can decrease the tensile strength and barrier properties by increasing the water vapour transsmision rate. Therefore the use of water as a plasticizer must be mixed with other plasticizer such as glycerol, sorbitol, polyethylene glycol and glycerol monostearate. In this study the best result is by using mixture of water and sorbitol with ratio = 5: I and the ratio of solid material (starch + PVOH +nucleating agent) and plasticizer = 1 : I.

Turmeric is useful as medicine, spices and pigment. A plant cultivated extensively inIndia, Ceylon and Indonesia. Turmeric pigment consist of the dried, boiled and grinded rhixomes of Curcumalonga. Turmeric pigment have more benefit than synthetic pigment.

Abstract

Detoxication is the transformation of a toxic substance into a less toxic  product. Detoxication of the pesticide contaminated waste water can be done by biota and abiota. Detoxication by biota may involve one or more the following reactions : oxidations, dechlorinations, reductions, hydrolysis, aromatic ring cleavage, etc. Detoxication by abiota may involved physical and chemical treatment. Three types of pesticide conta­minated waste water were prepared in theis experiment. The first type contain MIPC, the second Carbofuran and the other BPMC. The concentration of each type are carried out after 1,2,3, and 4 weeks. The result indicate that the longer detoxication time is better result, the kind of toxicants affected detoxication product, KOH is stronger than NaOH.

Abstract

Energi yang dihasilkan dari pembakaran limbah padat industri gula berupa bagas dengan tungku pembakaran yang didesain sedemikian rupa dapat memanaskan air menjadi steam dengan suhu ruang bakar 435°C dan suhu steam 140°C. Steam yang terbentuk disimpan di header. Header dapat menyimpan steam yang dihasilkan dari pembakaran bagase secara kontinyu 10 kg/jam suhmaksimum yang dapat dicapai 150°C dan tekanan maksimum 4-5 kg/cm2. Panas yang hilang dari cerobong gas buang digunakan untuk alat pengering hasil agro yang didesain khusus. Suhu diruang alat pengering dapat dijaga konstan 70°C sebagai mana yang dibutuhkan.

Abstract

Iodization of salt is processe in which iodine in the form of potassium Iodate solution, is added. into salt , The materials needed for the purpose are : salt (NaCl), potassium iodate (KIO3) and water. Iodized salt in Indonesia should contain 40 ppm of potassium Iodate,with 10 ppm tolerable deviation.

Abstract

Waste water from leather tanning industries contains high pollutant of organic and inorganic matters. Fragmented method of waste water treatment management has been done in PT K, leather tanning industry, Malang. This method based on the characteristic ot the waste water from each leather tanning process with four group treatment process to reduce the COD content. By implementing this method the result shows that the COD content decreasing from 4047,68 ppm to 793,37 ppm (80,40 %); other benefit is reducing bad smell during the process.

Abstract

The choice of a packaging material for a particular product raises a number of important considerations. Applications of polypropylene and polyethylene plastic container has widely used for iodized salt packaging in the form of bag has indicated that it was the most economic and practical contai­ner, for it's characteristic of the material is easy to form, light weight, variety of colour, flexible.From technical point of view the packaging's function are : (1) to keep the product in a good condition during distribution and storage. (2) to protect the product from contamination.
