Abstract

Utilization of climatic information and physical characteristics of the soil to determine the soil water balance in agriculture is a very important factor because it relates to the planning model of activity to be undertaken. This is important because the output is known a periods of surplus and deficit water of the regions. Periods of surplus and deficit is implications for the length of growth period available to facilitate the planning of agricultural models that will be developed. The planning agricultural model is still oriented to the needs of farmers and the willingness of the government, not based on the climatic information and physical characteristics of the soil. Abstract

Agroforestry developmet analysis in Lasalimu Regency, Buton District, Southeast Sulawesi province aimed to evaluate existing agroforestry system that has been implemented by local farmers in this area and to provide land use development strategy based on socio economic and land suitability evaluation. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with local farmers was carried out in Prediagnosis and Diagnosis Phase in order to explore problems and constrains that faced by stakeholders. While Land Suitability Analysis was conducted to develop a proper land use in accordance with its suitability classes. This study found that there are two agroforestry systems based on the existing components, namely agrisilviculture and agrisilvopastura. Problems and constraints encountered by local farmers were lack of education, lack of skills, especially in silviculture aspect, low agribusiness management skill and low acsess to financial sources. Land suitability analysis showed that in general,land suitability ratings for woody crops and perennial crops were categorized as moderately suitable (S2), marginally suitable (S3) and Not Suitable (NS) while those for annual crops / non rice food crops were categorized as marginally suitable (S3) and Not Suitable (NS). The study also found that there are significant land area that are suitable for livestock development through agrosilvopasture system. In conclusion, agroforestry system can be potentially implemented in Lasalimu Regency with on the improvement of local farmers’s capacity and the development of appropriate technology. Key words: agroforestry, focus group discussion, land suitability, land development.

Abstract

The aim of the reserach was to determine the antitermite properties of bark extract of mangium (Acacia mangium) on Gmelina wood (Gmelina arborea) and determine the optimum concentration levels and immersion duration. The research scheme applied completely randomized design, treatment is done factorially with 2 factor treatments. The first factor is concentration levels of bark extract (7 % , 5 % and 3 %). The second factor is immersion duration in preservative material are 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours. The test done with feeding test. The parameter which was observed namely: retention of mangium bark extract and weigh loss of gmelina wood.  Result showed that the higest retention  found on 7 % concentration levels and  48 hours immersion (3,75 kg/m 3).  The lowest wood sample weight loss found at concentration  7 % and 24 hours immersion (19,31 %). Keywords : bark extract, Acacia mangium, Gmelina arborea, retentions

Abstract

This study aims to identify the critical areas, analyze social values, assess land suitability, analyze and formulate the economic value of agroforestry design for optimal land use. The methods used in this study were the evaluation of land suitability, financial analysis, social analysis and  agroforestry design on critical lands. The results showed t the land in the study site should be included in the category of critical and rather critical. The land suitability evaluation on the plant types of the agrisylviculture type for the woody plant, commodity plants is categorized in S3ehf Class (marginal suitability), one seasoned plants is categorized in S3ehfn Class. Whereas the of woody plants and commodity plants is categorized in Nrc (not suitable) and one seasoned plants are categorized in S3rcn (marginal suitability). The result of the financial analysis on the agrisyviculture type is Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) is 2,84 and NPV Rp. 6.677.092/annual and the agrosylvopasura type is BCR of  2,48 and NPV as much as Rp. 7.885.844/annual, while maize monoculture showed a NPV of Rp. 487.247 and a BCR of 1,16. The agroforestry design based on the landscape recommended for the woody plants such as: Entrolobium cyclocarpum, Toona surenii, Gmelina arborea, planted on a ridge, the commodity plants such as: Myristica frahrans Houtt, Coffea sp, Aleurites molucana (L) Wild, Artocarpus communis Forst planted on the slopes and one seasoned plants grown on flat land. The conclusion of this research is the development of agroforestry is feasible to design agroforestry such as wood crops should be planted on ridges, MTPs crops should be planted on slopes while annual crops should be  planted on flat land. Key words:  agroforestry, land suitability, critical land, design

Abstract

This research is aim to know the kinds of medical plants, and usage in the Forest Preserve Napabalano Muna. The research was conducted at the Forest Preserve Napabalano in Napabalano , District Napabalano , Muna District , Southeast Sulawesi.  There are 11 of medical plants at Napabalano Forest Nature Reserve that used by people at the surounding of the forest.   And the part of the trees that used by the people are stem, root, flower, bark, resin, and leaf sap of the trees. This part has been known from generation to generation. The  Knowledge of the people about the way of using depend on the kind of the trees, how to use herbs that are crushed, squeezed, drunk directly, soaked in the boiled water and  boiled alone or in a mixture. Keywords : Napabalano Forest Preserve, Medical Plants

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menaksir potensi kayu berupa jumlah, luas bidang dasar, dan volume kayu berdasarkan tingkat pertumbuhan pohon. Kemudian mengetahui  struktur tegakannya secara vertikal.  Selain itu, akan diketahui berbagai manfaat dari pohon yang ditanam serta pola tanam yang dikembangkan pada hutan rakyat di Kecamatan Barangka.  Pengambilan sampel pohon dilakukan secara acak tanpa pemulihan (sampling without replacement) pada lahan hutan rakyat dengan bentuk bujur sangkar dan kesalahan yang diperkenankan (allowable error)  5%.   Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Potensi kayu sebagai berikut : a) jumlah batang yakni kelas tree (pohon) berjumlah 159 batang/ha, kelas pole (tiang) 2119 batang/ha, kelas sapling (pancang) 497 batang/ha; c) luas bidang dasar berupa kelas tree (pohon) berjumlah 6,794 m2/ha, kelas pole (tiang) 14,241 m2/ha, kelas sapling (pancang) 2,545 m2/ha; d) volume kayu pohon yakni kelas tree (pohon) berjumlah 118,69 m3/ha, kelas pole (tiang) 174,575 m3/ha, kelas sapling (pancang) 10,676 m3/ha. 2) Struktur tegakan secara vertikal yakni lapisan atas > 16,21 m berjumlah 697 batang/ha, lapisan tengah 14,59 – 16,21 m berjumlah 976 batang/ha, dan lapisan bawah < 14,59 m berjumlah 1116 batang/ha. 3) Kategori manfaat pohon yang ditanam yaitu kategori manfaat kayu : jati; kategori manfaat kayu dan buah : jeruk dan rambutan; kategori manfaat kayu dan biji : jambu mete dan kakau; kategori manfaat kayu, buah, dan hijaun makanan ternak (HMT) : nangka. 4) Pola hutan rakyat yaitu Pola I : jati, jagung, ubi kayu dan rumput; Pola II : jati dan kacang panjang, tomat dan labu; Pola III : jati, jambu mete, kakau, dan kelapa; Pola V : jati, rambutan, jeruk, nangka, dan pisang; Pola VI : jati. Kata kunci : hutan rakyat, potensi kayu, struktur, manfaat pohon, pola

Abstract

This research aims to know the level of forest encroachment impacts at Nipa Nipa forest toward the socio-economic condition of the community araound the forest. The result of this shows that the deforestation has caused great biodiversity lost and residence expansion around the forest while the wide of area that has been converted in Puunggaloba area for farming and hausingare 4,42 hectare.  The numbers of family who actively take adventages from the forest are 221 families.  The encroachment activities commited by the respondent has a positive relationship with socio-economic of the community  but have no relationship with ( not significant effect) all the socio-economic variable of community who live in Puncak Puunggaloba area. As suggested, there should be a follow up research on socio-economic analysis of community who live around the forest as the source of information for local governent to improve their community welfare while saving the Nipa-Nipa forest Park Key word: Socio-Economic, Encroachment and Nipa Nipa Forest Park

Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition, structure and Visualization vegetation canopy profile of Tahura Nipa-nipa at Mangga Dua Village, Kendari City. Kelurahan Mangga Dua Kendari. This research was used mix method between partitioned track and line that placed purposive sampling crossing the contour line. The Data were analyzed to obtain information about, diversity, frequency, dominance, Important Value Index (IVI) and Shannon-Wiener Variety Index (H ').  To visualize the vegetation profile using SExI-FS software version 2.1.0. The results show the amount of the collected inventory as much as 1046 individual for all species, which are clustered in 43 species and 27 families. Myrtaceae and Verbenaceae are families with the highest number of species. Castanopsis buruana  and Baringtonia reticulata is species that dominate vegetation communities. The level of community diversity in the study area was moderate with an index value of the average community diversity (H ') of 2.83. Canopy stratification consists of 4 to 5 layers, this generally indicates the study sites compiled by vegetation canopy layer of relatively complete. Key words : Vegetation, Structure, Composition,  Visualization Of Vegetation Profile

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis efisiensi pemasaran kayu jabon Hutan Rakyat di Desa Wambulu dengan cara menghitung marjin pemasaran, margin keuntungan dan farmer share (bagian harga yang diterima petani) pada setiap saluran  pemasaran.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa terdapat 4 (empat) pola pemasaran kayu jabon di Desa Wambulu yaitu: Jalur pemasaran I (Petani-pedagang perantara-pedagang penampung- konsumen akhir), saluran II (Petani produsen-pedagang penampung- konsumen akhir), saluran III (Petani produsen-pedagang perantara-konsumen akhir), dan saluran IV (Petani produsen-konsumen akhir). Berdasarkan hasil analisis marjin pemasaran (produk yang dihasilkan adalah papan dan balok) yang paling efisien adalah saluran pemasaran IV, karena besarnya marjin pemasaran terendah, tingkat farmer share tertinggi dan marjin keuntungan terendah. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of giving compost in sub soil (over burden) nickel mine toward chemical properties of soil and growth of sengon crop seed in an effort for introduce initial condition of the growing environment for sengon crop, so that earned seed for support revegetation activity of land ex minning.  The research was arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with single factor scheme for 7 treatment degree, that is A0 (without compost), A1 (125 g compost polybag-1), A2 (250 g compost polybag-1), A3 (375 g compost polybag-1), A4 (500 g compost polybag-1), A5 (625 g compost polybag-1) and A6 (750 g compost polybag-1). The treatment reapet for 3 times so that has 21 unit tried. Every experiment unit from 9 crop so that all over has 189 crop. Variable with observed are chemical properties of soil (pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), N-total, available P and available K) and sengon crop growing (increase high crop (cm), total leaf stalk (stalk), stem diameter (cm), ratio root tip of a leaf and index quality of seed).  The research shown that compost fertilizer giving toward chemical properties of sub soil (over burden) nickel mine raising of value for soil pH, CEC, N-total, available P and available K. However, compost giving toward sengon growth only show effect more real the increase high crop in age 45 hst. Key Word : Chemical properties of soil, compost, growth of sengon crop.
