Abstract

Coastal area of Payum as an areaof mangrove forest located at western of Merauke Regency. Known as area which produce a high amount of organic matters, whether comes from mangrove area itself, stream or even by sea currents. They’re so much living organism associated with mangrove, one of them is gastropods. Sample was collected using transect quadran methods. The quadran size 5 x 5 m and the gastropods were collected as well as the sediment and sea water to measure the organic matter content. At that time the environments parameters also collected such as temperature, salinity and pH. The research result were successful identified 13 species of gastropods, like Cassidula angulifera, Littoraria scabra, Terebralia sulcata, Cerithidea obtusa, Neripteron violaceum, Indothais rufotincta, Nassasius unicolor, Tanea lineata, Nerita balteata, Turritella terebra, Glossaulax bicolor, Mitra sp. and Telescopium telescopium. Furthermore, the sediment analisys showed strong correlation      (60 % ) with the existence of gastropoda, reverse with sea water analisys which is had weak correlation around 10% of correlation value. Evenness index was high and followed by low of dominance index. Diversity index were high in stasiun I and II. Moreover, the density and frequency relative of gastropod spesies in every stasiun was dominate by Littoraria scabra.

Abstract

Rice is staple food in Indonesian and almost in all Asian. Germination is commonly method to increase nutritional content in grain and cereal. The aim of this research is to analyze gaba and total phenolic contents, and also antioxidant activity in germinated rice native cultivar from Yogyakarta. This research is also to determine the optimal condition in rice germination. Three native rice cultivars from Ngaglik Sleman Yogyakarta  used in this research, it were brown rice, red rice and black rice cultivars. Temperatures and soaking time variations used as treatments, rice without soaking treatment as controls.  The temperature variations was 28oC and 37oC and the  soaking time  was 6, 12, 18, and 12 hours. Three parameters GABA, total phenolic, and antioxidant activity was measured using spectrophotometric methods. The result of this research showed the cultivar that yield the highest GABA was black rice soaked in 37oC for 12 hour. It was 9,39 mg/100 g dry weight. Black rice without soaking treatment was the highest total phenolic content, it was 67,79 mg GAE/100 g dry weight with 7,91 ppm for IC50. The optimal condition was 37oC for 12 hour treated to Black rice that yield GABA 9,39 mg/100 g dry weight with total phenolic content and IC50 were 57,65 mg GAE/100 g dry weght  26,23 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Sirih plants is very important for Papuanese, because it is not only consumed, but also a very important ingredients in a traditional ceremonies. It is believed as brotherhood linkage, so it is very important to develop the production of sirih plants. This research aimed to utilize the organic household waste becoming liquid fertilizer which will be applicated on sirih plants with various dosage. The research was using Randomized Block Design, with six treatments of organic liquid fertilizer, which are: sirih plant with no treatments (D0), sirih plant with 10 ml/2L of water (D1), sirih plant with 20 ml/2L of water (D2), sirih plant with 30 ml/2L of water (D3), sirih plant with 40 ml/2L of water (D4) and sirih plant with 50 ml/2L of water (D5). Every treatment was repeated five times, so there were 30 experimental units. Observed parameters, are: number of branches, fruit length (cm), fruit diameter (mm), weight per fruit (g) and total fruit weight per plant (g). The treatments were applicated every two weeks. The data was analyzed with variance analysis. The observation showed that the treatments have no significant effects on fruit length, fruit diameter and weight per fruit, but have very significant effect on total fruit weight per plant. The best total fruit weight per plant is 88.70 g with 40 ml organic liquid fertilizer per 2L of  water.
