Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the nutrient content of POC produced from household waste using the stacked bucket method. This research was conducted for 3 months from September to November 2020. This research is a descriptive study. The first process is the process of making organic fertilizer from household waste which is fermented in a stacked bucket for 2 months. Leachate from organic waste is dried in the sun for one month or until the leachate is blackish in color and has no more subtle aroma. The finished POC is sampled and tested in the laboratory to determine the content of micro and macro nutrients as well as organic C. To measure the content of macro and micro nutrients, the test material used was Kjeldahl for nitrogen content while P, K, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, S, Ca, Mg, Na used spectrometric wet oxidation method and the content of C-organic by spectrophotometric method. The test results showed that the POC of household waste contained 0.08% total N, 0.07% total P, 0.28% total K, 5 ppm total Fe, 0.4 ppm total Mn, 0.0 ppm total Cu, Zn total 0.6 ppm, total S 0.5%, total Ca 165.0 ppm, total Mg 106.9 ppm, total Na 172.7 ppm, organic C 1.06%, and C/N ratio 13.27.

Abstract

Wild plants vegetation in Merauke area as the main ingredient of botanical pesticides showed that utilization of organism considered as unuseful even as weeds can be utilized as pesticides. Asteraceae is one of the families that has species with antimicrobe contents which potential for botanical pesticides. The study was held in Merauke, and Semangga Districts from August to November 2016. The research method is quantitative. The identification used non-destructive measures, based on plant organism reviews taxonomically. Determination of sample plots used quadrat sampling technique with vegetation analysis. The result showed 16 species of wild plants in the Asteraceae family which have potential as botanical pesticides in Merauke regency. The dominant species with the highest density, frequency of attendance and leaf canopy closure are the species which have high possibility to utilize as botanical pesticides. They are Bidens pilosa dan Vernonia cinerea in Merauke district, with Summed Dominance Ratio sequentially 0,341 and 0,189.  Ageratum conyzoides dan Vernonia cinerea in Semangga district dengan Summed Dominance Ratio sequentially 0,236 dan 0,202.

Abstract

Rice is staple food in Indonesian and almost in all Asian. Germination is commonly method to increase nutritional content in grain and cereal. The aim of this research is to analyze gaba and total phenolic contents, and also antioxidant activity in germinated rice native cultivar from Yogyakarta. This research is also to determine the optimal condition in rice germination. Three native rice cultivars from Ngaglik Sleman Yogyakarta  used in this research, it were brown rice, red rice and black rice cultivars. Temperatures and soaking time variations used as treatments, rice without soaking treatment as controls.  The temperature variations was 28oC and 37oC and the  soaking time  was 6, 12, 18, and 12 hours. Three parameters GABA, total phenolic, and antioxidant activity was measured using spectrophotometric methods. The result of this research showed the cultivar that yield the highest GABA was black rice soaked in 37oC for 12 hour. It was 9,39 mg/100 g dry weight. Black rice without soaking treatment was the highest total phenolic content, it was 67,79 mg GAE/100 g dry weight with 7,91 ppm for IC50. The optimal condition was 37oC for 12 hour treated to Black rice that yield GABA 9,39 mg/100 g dry weight with total phenolic content and IC50 were 57,65 mg GAE/100 g dry weght  26,23 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Farmers ussually using chemical pesticides and mostly ignore the recommended dosage, chemical pesticides used spend 20% of analysis farming bussiness and food saftey become neglected for increasing production. The purpose of community capacity building is to increase farmers knowledge of making liquid smoke from agricultural waste rice husk as biopesticides for farmer groups in Kampung Jaya Makmur, Merauke Regency. The method of this empowerment by training and mentoring the process of liquid smoke production and assist the process of marketing liquid smoke products. The results of community service were the modifications of kiln drum (biochar maker) belong to farmer group into a liquid smoke maker using the pyrolysis method. This tool has been trial process and trained to farmers group of Jaya Makmur. The training of process of liquid smoke was attended by 26 farmers, 2 pioneer farmers, 3 students, and 9 lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Engineering Musamus University. The capacity building was followed by assisting program for biochar and liquid smoke production and calculating operational costs of liquid smoke production, product packaging, and opportunities for selling liquid smoke as biopesticides organic among the farmers. Recent conclusion of this community capacity building has been increasing knowledge among farmers from 20.3% to 57%. Through the assistance, the group of production biochar center was empowered become center of input agricultural such as biopestisida and biochar.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a wealth of germplasm diversity. One of the potential of germplasm in Indonesia which is quite a lot and diverse is rice plants. Increased rice production is increasingly needed given the increasing need for rice consumption and population. One of the main factors that determine the success of increasing production in rice cultivation is rice seeds. The availability of quality seeds causes the plants produced have good quality and high production levels. Some things that can cause a decrease in the quality of seeds is the water content that is not right during the storage period.One way that is often used to increase seed vigor is by invigoration treatment. One of the compounds commonly used in research for invigoration treatment is Polyethylene glycol (PEG). The local rice plant that grows in Merauke according to farmers' information is Palenok. This rice grows and develops in swamps. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of various concentrations of PEG 6000 on the viability and growth of local rice seeds. This research was carried out at the Agrotechnology Laboratory and the Agrotechnology Screen House of Musamus Merauke University, from July to October 2018. Presentation and analysis of the data in this study was conducted descriptively. The results showed that the PEG 6000 concentration of 15% (P3) treatment gave the best average for germination parameters and for plant growth parameters the PEG 6000 0% (P0) treatment gave the best average for parameters of plant height, number of leaves and number of tillers. Abstract

One of the impacts of the spread of covid 19 for the community is the decline in the economic life of the people affected by covid 19. Efforts to revive the economy of the community is done by providing training to the community to produce processed food products that have economic value. One of the most popular processed food products today is banana stem chips. Banana stem chips are processed from the midrib of banana stems, which so far have not been widely used by the community as food. Merauke is an area with an abundance of banana plant diversity, one of which is in Sermayam Village. The PKK women's group in Sermayam Village is one of the community groups that are both targets and partners in this service activity. Partners involved in this service activity are PKK women in Sermayam Village. This training activity aims to increase knowledge and skills to process processed food products from materials available in the local area. With this activity partner members are given training to process banana stems into banana stem chips so that they become more economically valuable. Partners are also given training to package attractive products so that their processed products can be accepted by the market. Seeing the enthusiasm of partners in this activity, partners are expected to increase their productivity so that they are more empowered and independent.

Abstract

Padi merupakan komoditas pertanian di Indonesia. Sumber plasma nutfah padi memerlukan perhatian yang serius untuk menjaga karakter-karakter unggul padi yang tahan terhadap cekaman biotik maupun abiotik. Cekaman air merupakan faktor pembatas utama yang mempengaruhi produktivitas tanaman padi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi ketahanan tanaman padi lokal dan non lokal di Kabupaten Merauke menggunakan uji daya tembus akar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret – Oktober 2018 di Screen house Laboratorium Agroteknologi Universitas Musamus. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan lapisan lilin untuk mensimulasi tingkat kekerasan akar. Lapisan lilin dibuat dari campuran parafin dan vaselin dengan rasio 20/80, 40/60, 60/40, dan 80/20. Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 padi lokal yaitu Cempo Ireng dan Palenok, dan 2 padi varietas unggul yaitu Inpago 10 dan IR 64. Benih padi ditumbuhkan di dalam pralon PVC dengan tinggi 15 cm yang berisi media tanam berupa campuran tanah dan kompos. Pada bagian bawah pralon ditempel dengan lapisan lilin dengan tingkat kekerasan yang telah ditentukan. Tanaman disiram hingga umur 21 HST, selanjutnya dibiarkan tanpa pengairan sampai umur 45 HST. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa padi lokal Cempo Laut memiliki daya tembus akar yang paling kuat pada rasio parafin/vaselin 60/40, kemudian Inpago 10, IR 64, dan Palenok. Padi Cempo laut menunjukkan kemampuan daya tembus akar yang paling baik, serta memiliki karakter yang paling baik pada parameter jumlah dan panjang akar yang menembus lapisan lilin, jumlah total akar, berat kering akar, berat kering tajuk, serta tingkat ketebalan akar. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of adding NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) supplements to the substrate on oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) growth and production. The research design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD), with four levels of treatment with the addition of NASA POC. The treatment doses used were 0% NASA POC as control (A), 2.5% NASA POC (B), 3% NASA POC (C), and 3.5% NASA POC (D). Each treatment was repeated four times to obtain 16 treatment units. Each treatment unit consisted of 5 Baglogs, so the total sample observed was 80 Baglogs. Based on the parameters observed in this study, including the length of mycelium spread (LPM), the beginning of the emergence of pinheads (AMP), the number of pinheads (JP), the diameter of the oyster mushroom hood (DTJT), and the weight of the oyster mushroom (BBJT), the addition of NASA POC on the substrate. Growth has no significant effect on the growth and production of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus).

Abstract

Bioaktivator adalah mikroorganisme yang dapat digunakan untuk mempercepat proses dekomposisi sampah organik maupun dapat diaplikasikan secara langsung pada tanah untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah. Mikroorganisme berperan penting untuk mendukung kelestarian dan produktivitas agroekosistem. Pemakaian pupuk kimia berlebih dalam praktek budidaya tanaman dapat menurunkan status kesehatan tanah. Penggunaan pupuk organik dan bioaktivator tanaman yang tersedia secara komersiil, relative memberatkan bagi petani apabila harus diaplikasikan secara intensif, karena harganya cukup mahal untuk dijangkau petani. Oleh sebab itu perlu dilakukan upaya alternatif untuk membantu masyarakat dalam mengembangkan pertanian di Kabupaten Merauke khususnya petani di Kampung Yasamulya SP 2 melalui peningkatan kompetensi masyarakat untuk mampu memproduksi bioaktivator tanaman maupun pupuk organic secara mandiri. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan teknik pembuatan bioaktivator yang dapat digunakan untuk pembuatan pupuk organik serta meningkatkan kesuburan tanah pada masyarakat di Kampung Yasa Mulya SP 2. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan ini mendapat apresiasi dan respon positif dari masyarakat serta berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat yaitu pengetahuan tentang bioaktivator sebanyak 60%, cara membuat bioaktivator sebanyak 80%, manfaat bioaktivator sebanyak 60%, kelebihan dan kekurangan pupuk kimia sebanyak 40%, serta mengenai manfaat pupuk organic sebanyak 10%.

Abstract

Non-cultivated local rice is known to have high resistance to various environmental stresses. This resistance is inseparable from the role of symbiotic and non-symbiotic rhizosphere bacteria that live in the root rhizosphere. This study aims to isolate and study the potential of rhizobacteria that live around the roots of non-cultivated local rice plants. This research is exploratory research to obtain rhizobacterial isolates that can stimulate plant growth and development and can be applied to cultivated rice plants. Soil samples were taken from Mimi Baru Village, Jagebob District. Sampling was carried out aseptically. Isolation was carried out using the multilevel dilution method. Isolates grown in NA media were then subcultured to obtain pure isolates. The isolates obtained were then characterized morphologically according to Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology and characterized microscopically. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that there were 12 bacterial isolates in the local rice "Cempo Laut" which were suspected to be Bacillus and Pseudomonas. The results of this study need to be tested further to determine the effect on plant growth and development.
