Abstract

This study aims to determine the density, diversity and dominance types of gastropods in mangrove areas in Kembapi Beach also the associations with physical-chemical waters parameters. The sampling method using a fixed transect lines combined with 1x1 quadrant m². Analysis data using gastropod species density index, Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Margalef species richness index and Simpson dominance index. This research founds that the gastropods consist of two sub-classes, 4 orders, 5 families, 6 genera and 9 species. The highest percentage is Nerita albicilla (19%) and Terebralia palustris (17%). The highest species density obtained from Nerita albacilla 26.6 ind / m2 and the lowest of Nerita lineata of 1.4 ind / m2. Gastropod species diversity index of 2.03. Species richness index value of 0,967. Gastropod species dominance value of 0.14. The second value of this index shows the diversity in the medium category and condition stable community mindless and no species gastropods dominate.

Abstract

Cirata dam, a man made resource, included in the The Common Pool Resources (CPRs). Trend of CPRs are over use and produce externality. The impacts of these externalities are the mass death of fish in pondfish, sedimentation and the most important suistainability of dam. The objective of this study is to analyze appropriate institutional model as the CPRs dam management. Data analysis for institutional arrangement using Dolsak&Ostrom approach. The results showed that management of dam are low enforcement, high demand of dam product, no leading sector for collective action, and there is political interest. Institutional redesign suggests two scenarios: best-case scenario and the status quo. Best-case scenario such as the establishment of authority as the leading sector, which was given full authority, exceeds the administrative boundaries (Trans boundry regime) and supported by adequate human resource. The status quo is a condition that currently exists, but need improvements especially in conduct participatory rules, environmental conditions, arrange the resource user and law enforcement among user, increasing human resources, and holistic management.

Abstract

Edible coating has much developed and used in wide variety of fruits and vegetables to extend shelf life by retard the ripening, prevent enzymatic browning reactions or retention the freshness of flavor and aroma. Edible coating is one way to extend the shelf life of the product due to different permeability of CO2, O2, water evaporation fruit and vegetables coating so as to reduce the rate of metablism and loss of water. The aim of this study was to investigate the use of edible coating from local raw materials namely sago in order to extend the shelf life of tomatoes. Also is a local product that researchers consider it necessary to conduct research on the use edible coating made from sago starch locally for industrial of postharvest and locally farmers. From the results of this study showed that use of  edible coating in tomatoes affect the shel life tomatoes, where tomatoes coated have a shelf life much longer that 10 days compared to non coating which reached 8 days at the same temperature 28 0C and all treatment are likely to experience changes in the quality of physicochemical during storage and affect the shelf life of tomatoes.

Abstract

Groundwater wells (sulfuric water) in Merauke is potentially high even in dry season. However, the high element of sulfur (S) in a plant can cause potion even death. The research is to determine the ability of lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) as a media of phytoremediation to decrease sulfur with an aeration treatment to fulfill the agricultural requirement. The treatment methods are closure surface of sulfuric acid with the lettuce. The treatments are namely without a closure, 25% closure, 50% closure, and 100% closure, where each treatment are using an aerator. The study is divided for into two stages. There are the early stage research (acclimatization) and the main research. Analysis of data includes the time and the corelation graph. On acclimatization stage, it was found that the concentration of SO4 was declining at 216 hours. The 50% of closure treatment showed that the lowest concentration of SO4 was at 81 mg /l. All of the treatments showed that the concentrations  of  H2S were declined on 48 hours on the main research. There were caused by the aerator that brings an oxidation process within the aeration. H2S oxidation produces SO4, so that the concentration of SO4 on control and all treatment have increased until the observation in 240 hours. From these results it can be concluded that the Pistia stratiotes is not required as phytoremediation agent in improved the water quality of sulfur. The award of oxygen (aeration) have been effective in reducing the concentration of S in the sulfur water to match the quality of agricultural water.

Abstract

Toxicity test is useful tools to determine the level of toxicity from a substance or pollutant.  It also used for routine monitoring of a waste water. This study was conducted from August to September 2016 in Laboratory of Aquaculture, University of Almuslim. The aims of this study were to (1) determine the LC50 value of palm oil mill effluent on Tilapia and milkfish, (2) To describe the impact of palm oil mill effluent on tilapia and milkfish behavior. Tilapia used has weight range of 9-10 g and a length of 7-9 cm, meanwhile milkfish used has a weight range of 9-10 g and a length of 11-13 cm. Fish mortality was observed at 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Concentrations of palm oil mill effluent used to acute toxicityof tilapia was 4,517 mg/L, 6,801 mg/L, 10,239 mg/L and 15,414 mg/L, meanwhile concentrations of palm oil mill effluent used to Acute toxicity of  milkfish was 6,915 mg/L, 9,563 mg/L, 13,225 mg/L and 18,289 mg/L, respectively. LC50-96 hours of palm oil mill effluent on Tilapia was 15,65 mg/L, whereas for fish milkfish was 14,16 mg/L. Palm oil mill effluent gave negative influence on behavior for both of test fish. The negative effects shown namely slow activity gestures and movements of gill operculum, movement without direction and  an excessive amount of mucus on fish skin surface
