Abstract

Earthquake is a natural phenomenon that becomes an interesting topic to be studied. Precursors of an earthquake is a topic that had been long studied. This research aims to understand the relationship between Pidie Jaya earthquake and the electrical activity of the air. The data needed to conduct this research are electrical activity in the air that captured by LD2000, Himawari8 satellite data, and rainfall data obtained from GSMaP model. That relationship is obtained by calculating the correlation coefficient between those variables. The result shows that there is an increased in electrical activity two days before the event occurred. In order to reach the conclusion, the relationship between electrical activity in the air and rainfall correlation is calculated and it shows a negative value. This value means that there is a weak correlation between electrical activity in the air and rainfall. This weak correlation does not show up in the correlation between high rainfall and convective clouds growth.

Abstract

The optical fiber is a transmission medium in the form of a cable made of glass or plastic used to transmit light signals from one point to another. The working principle of optical fibers utilizes the principle of perfect reflection by utilizing the refractive index difference between the core and cladding. The optical fiber can be used as a sensor by using an instrumentation system consisting of input, process, and output. Input or input uses a diode laser, where the spectrum is very narrow so it is suitable to be used as a source. The data transmission process uses optical fiber as a waveguide. Data recording transmits humidity using Arduino Uno and Ethernet Shield. The output is in the form of output voltage displayed on the LCD or PC. The best stripping length is 2 cm with TiO2-SiO2 coating as a substitute for cladding, which shows the value of R2 = 0.982. The average error obtained from the design of air humidity devices was 3.06%. This shows the incompatibility between reading a tool designed with a standard measuring instrument because the sensor designed is still very vulnerable to systematic errors.

Abstract

Geophysical exploration to estimate the potency of iron sand in the western coastal area of Sub-district of Nusawungu, Regency Cilacap has been done in May-July 2017 using the resistivity method. Measurements of resistivity data were performed at six points of locations estimated to contain iron ore prospectly based on the local magnetic anomaly map of research area. The geo-electric resistivity survey aims to estimate the depth and thickness of iron sand deposits and their potential. The results of modeling and interpretation of resistivity data show the presence of rock deposit that be estimated as iron sand that coexists alternately with silt and clay from the alluvium formation at all points of locations. The iron sand deposits is at depths of 2.39-25.25 meter with resistivity values of 12.24-46.96 Om. Therefore the resistivity method exploration, shows that the potency of iron sand in the research area is estimated to be quite large.

Abstract

An experiment for determining Brewster angle and study polarization from reflected light has been done. Equipment for this experiment are a spectrophotometry table as the place the sample and read the reflected angle, photodetector as recording instrument to determine value of intensity from reflected light, resin as tested sample, He-Ne Laser as main light resource, and a polarizer used as light polarizator. The result from this experiment shown there are 2 mode from polarized light, TE mode and TM mode. Mode which is used to determine the Brewster angle is TM Mode. The value of brewster angle from resin sample on this experiment is 52,5 0. The value from refractive index is (1.303 ± 0.055) compared by the literature which has been used is (1.46 ± 0.01).

Abstract

Characterization of the effect of temperature on emission intensity ZnO:Zn luminance material has been carried out. This research was conducted to determine the optical properties of ZnO:Zn as a luminous material and the effect of temperature on emission intensity of ZnO luminance material will be analyzed: Zn at 5% dopant concentration. ZnO synthesis was carried out using the solution phase method and in obtaining the ZnO:ZnO:luminous material, the milling method was used. The best absorbance spectrum is produced by ZnO:Zn with the highest calcination temperature of 4000 C. Based on the photoluminniscence spectrum characterization it is known that ZnO: Zn luminance material with temperature variations is capable of emitting green light with a wavelength range of 523 nm. Temperature variation given will affect the high intensity of ZnO emission: Zn produced as the temperature increases.

Abstract

One of the specification of good seismic station placement is the seismic sensor which should be placed on the bedrock to minimize the wave amplification factor that affect to the earthquake magnitude calculation. In this study, we analyze the soil characteristics in the seismic sensor location at 22 seismic stations placed in Java island. Seismogram data, which is free from seismic noise, from each station were analyzed using Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) method to get the value of the soil amplification factor (Ao) and the dominant period (Tdom). To determine the type of soil at the seismic station location, we used the dominant period (Tdom). The result, 36.4% are located on soft soil, 13.6% on the medium soil type, 22.7% on the hard soil type, and 27.27% lies in the soil class I, which is a rock. The 10 seismic stations has the amplification factor more than 2.0, with the highest value is 7.73 at CNJI station (Cianjur, West Java Province) and the lowest value is 0.89 at TNGI station (Tangerang, Banten Province). Not only the local site effect but the treatment of the sensor also affects the seismic wave amplification at the stations.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of nickel doping into chlorophyll dye on the optical properties and conductivity for DSSC application. The nickel doping is focused the effect of nickel concentration into chlorophyll dye as photosensitizer. Analysis of optical properties (absorbance) of dye solutions and TiO2 used the UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The conductivity of dye solutions were calculated using I-V meter. The characterization results of absorbance and conductivity of dye solutions were direcly proportional to increasing the Ni concentration. The FTIR characterization resulted the optimum absorption at a concentration of 0,1 M with the frequency peak of (Ni-Cl) at 679 cm-1. The absorbance of TiO2/dye also showed that the optimum doping concentration of 0,1 M.

Abstract

CO2 laser cutting machine is a tool used in working on cutting and engraving some materials such as polymers, glass, paper, fabric and some non-metallic materials. CO2 laser cutting machines are widely used to make indoor and outdoor decoration such as nameplates in several shops, offices, hotels, companies, exhibition halls, and some accessories such as trophies, key chains and some other accessories. In this research will be studied about the influence of CO2 laser cutting speed on the shape, width, and depth in making a kanal mikro optical waveguide on acrylic substrate. The fabrication results were observed using an optical microscope as well as width and depth calculations usingmicrometer shifts. Fromthe results of observation and analysis of fabrication, the results showed that the higher the CO2 laser speed the shallower the depth of the resulting. In this study the power used 2.4W and produced kanal mikro with the smallest depth of 190.91 µm with laser speed 100 mm/s and biggest 604.17 µm with laser speed 50 mm/s. From the results of this study recommended a good speed to make kanal mikro as an optical waveguide application is 95 mm/s and 100 mm/s with a power of 2.4 W.

Abstract

Bio-impedance multilayer sensor [NiFe(800)/Cu(300)]4 has been successfully fabricated by electro deposition method. The bio-magneto-impedance response is defined as the impedance change due to the applied field (MI) with and without the meat. The bio-MI response profile of beef samples has a similar to the magneto-impedance curve and depends on the measurement frequency. The bio-MI response in this study is 0.7% at 100 kHz.
