Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) employing ZnO and citrus extracts as sensitizer were fabricated and characterized. Citrus extracts used in this study were isolated from Citrus hysterics and Citrus Auran-Tii folia (kafir lime). Infrared spectroscopy study, corroborated with HPLC and LC-MS, estimates that both citrus extracts contain a high content of lutein as carotenoids. In addition, Citrus hysteric extracts contain rich flavonoid including naringin, hesperidin, and tangeritin, while kafir lime extracts are characterized by high content of quercetin, sakuranetin, and tangeritin. The combination of different flavonoids and carotenoids in both extracts results in different optical and electronic properties. The current-voltage measurement of ZnO-based DSSC shows that the open circuit voltage (V0 c) and fill factor (FF) are unaffected upon using different dyes, i.e. V0 c == 0.340 V and FF == 0.4. The highest short circuit current (Jsc = 0.956 mA.cm-2 ) is generated in DSSC utilizing Citrus hysteric extracts and yield efficiency up to 0.122%.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of micro-sized carbon material mass variation from coconut shell leftovers or wastes reinforced with filter paper towards Fe filtration of Mataram canal water. Preparation and synthesis of the micro-sized carbon material is conducted via liquid sonication exfoliation (LSE) method using two main equipments, i.e.: a blender and a self-custom made piezoelectric-based ultrasonication apparatus, and then incorporated into a simple filtration apparatus. UV-Vis spectroscopy characterization is done on the micro-sized carbon material solution, while atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) is done on samples of Mataram canal water before and after Fe filtration with mass variation of the micro-sized carbon material. The UV-Vis results show that increasing the mass of the micro-sized carbon material increases the absorbance values at the same wavelength. The AAS results confirm that the greater the mass of the micro-sized carbon material the smaller the Fe content inside the water samples after filtration. The lowest Fe content of 0.016 ppm is obtained for 3 grams of the micro-sized carbon material.

Abstract

Graphene is a two-dimensional carbon material and has superior mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. Graphene has potential as an electrode material for energy storage systems such as supercapacitors. In the study used reduced graphene oxide (RGO) material obtained through the thermal reduction process of commercial graphene oxide (GO) material. The GO thin layer on the ITO-glass substrate was made using Spin coating method at 1000 rpm for 60 seconds. The RGO thin layer was obtained by heating the GO thin film at a temperature of 2000 C for 1 hour. The capacitor system uses the anode and cathode of the above RGO material and for the electrolyte medium, a 1 Molar H2SO4 solution is used. The characteristic of the capacitor system was observed by potential-static cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements in the voltage range of -0.2-0.8 volts with a scan rate of 125 mV/s. Also performed the characteristics of charge-discharge through the measurement of charge-discharging charge in galvanostatic. Characteristic properties of energy storage are shown in the presence of a pattern of hysteresis on the CV curve. The result of the charge-discharge measurement shows a triangle curve pattern indicating the existence of a storage process of the charge. The maximum specific capacitance value of RGO electrode is 1.54 × 10-4 / mass F/g at 0.7 µA discharge current condition.

Abstract

This research will utilize coco shell as an acoustic tile, specifically resonator so that a coco shell has a better value. Coco shell used will be a young coco shell, since its a rarely utilized waste. The resonator will be tested in regard of its ability to absorb and scatter sound. This research consists of a test to determine the value of the absorption coefficient of the material, the scattering pattern panel, and the determination coefficient scattering. The purpose of this research in addition resonator has aesthetic value currency will also have more value in the acoustic space. Acoustic room means a room that requires special treatment in acoustic music studio room, for example, broadcast, places of worship, home theatre, music chamber, and others. The absorption coefficient for convex shell has greater value than the concaves, especially at a frequency of 1000 Hz and 4000 Hz. Perforate addition in the convex shell makes the scattering pattern smoother. The addition of sugar cane pulp has the same scattering pattern. The scattering coefficient has a negative values exception at a frequency of 500 Hz, especially for acoustic panels are arranged in convex and convex panels that filled by bagasse. When the measurement in an anechoic chamber, the result says that panels made from young coconut shell either arranged convex and concave above can reduce the frequency of 1500 Hz. there is perforation/hole on the composition of convex shell panels capable of lowering the level of pressure above 1000 Hz.

Abstract

Karst is usually composed from limestone, which often leaks rain water through holes in the limestone. As the result, drought often happens during dry season. We conducted a study to identify aquifer using geo-electric method with Schlumberger configuration, around the Southern Gombong Karst Region in Buayan district, precisely in Nogoraji, Jogomulyo, and Jatiroto village. The obtained data were processed using IPI2win software, and then we made 2D model using RockWorks 15. From this model, we found that a shallow aquifer as sandstone is located at the depth of 7,57-23,8 m, and an aquifer as breccias at the depth of 144-242 m. Both aquifer are located in T4 (Jogomulyo). Additionally, we also found an aquifer as limestone at the depth of 131-223 m, which is located in T5 (Nogoraji). However, we did not found any aquifer in T1 (Jatiroto), T2 (Jogomulyo), and T3 (Jogomulyo), because we only identified marl, tuff, tuffaceous marl and clay layer, which are impermeable.

Abstract

It has been studied the aluminum doping effect on co-precipitated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles. Aluminum ion .was chosen considering covalent radius comparable to the radius of cobalt. The analysis of FTIR results showed that the change of constant force without and with doping aluminum ion on tetrahedral site was 0.23 N / m. The calculated of crystallite size from the strongest peak of XRD pattern indicated that the crystallite size reduces from 57.75 to 46.20 nm after doped aluminum. The change of the crystallite size was presumably due to the substitution of cobalt ions with aluminum ions since the aluminum covalent radius was smaller than cobalt ions.

Abstract

Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) is one of the most promising solar cell materials, as compared to the crystalline silicon (c-Si). This material has a greater absorption with less material requirement (thin). So it is expected to reduce the cost of production and price of solar cells. But until now there are still many unresolved issues, especially with regard to low efficiency, and the Staebler-Wronski effect. This study aims to describe the effect of Staebler-Wronski, which is the effect of long-time exposure to heat on the layer of solar cell material by means of annealing treatment. The results show that the longer annealing time, there is a tendency to decrease transmittance, which is thought to be caused by changes in crystallinity, energy band gap, Urbach energy and particle size. The increasing annealing time can lead to the release of hydrogen bonds that cause an increase in localized state, due to the activation of the dangling bond which is the main cause of the Staebler-Wronski effect.
