Abstract

Provide cavendish banana seedling massively can be solved with Provide cavendish banana seedling massively can be solved with tissue culture. One of the critical period in tissue culture is acclimatization. Acclimatization problem came from external factor, i.e. planting media. It causes cavendish banana plantlet got growth shambles and caused die. Planting media functions as growing media and nutrition source or fertilizer plant needed and hold the water within a certain time limit. Aside from, media necessity equilibration between micro and macro pore to keep stability between water, air and nutrition. Aimthis research was to understand the kind of the optimal media compositions in cavendish banana plantlet acclimatization. This research using Complete Randomized Design. Kind of compositions media used i.e. M1 = cocopeat : husk charhcoal : soil (1:1:2); M2 = cocopeat : husk charchcoal : compost (1:1:2); M3 = cocopeat : husk charchcoal : sand = (1:1:2). Observation variables were average of seedling growth precentage, plant height, addition of leaves, and growth of seedling phenotypes. Observation done on 15 daa (day after acclimatization) until 30 daa with interval 15 daa. The results showed that the all three treatments composition of planting media effected on seedling growth precentage, plant height andaddition of leaves. Observation in 30daa showed that planting media of cocopeat + husk charchcoal + sand having the best response treatment in parameter of seedling growth precentage, plant height andaddition of leaves.

Abstract

“Uwi plant (Dioscorea sp.) as a type of tuber has the potential to support food diversity and food security in the future because it is very tolerant of being planted in all kinds of land including upland. In Indonesia, even in the world, the potential for dry land is very wide and has not been maximally utilized. This study aims to obtain "uwi"-based non-rice alternative food. The organoleptic test was used in this study, using collection materials obtained from the exploration of the ex-Madiun dry land area. The results showed that there was a relationship between the taste and colour of the tuber flesh. White "uwi" is generally preferred, purple colour varies between preferred - dislikes. The medium yellow base colour is not useful until it is not suitable for fresh consumption. The engineering results of synthetic/analogue rice making using "uwi" show that the fresh ingredients give a better colour appearance than the flour treatment. In terms of hardness, fresh ingredients are relatively tougher because the mucus content is still involved in it. In terms of taste, chewiness and texture, it shows that in general, has the same and lower expression than rice and rice. It concluded that the "uwi" plant was very potential to be used for the manufacture of functional rice, especially white and purple coloured yam rice. For other types, it is possible to carry out further research in the direction of bioenergy or pharmacy.

Abstract

Patchouli oil known as the main ingredient in fragrances such as perfume, bath soap and hair oil. Not only that, this oil is also known to have antibacterial, antifungal, antiemetic, and trypanocidal activity. One of the highest content of patchouli oil is Δ-guaiene. Δ-guaiene is one of the sesquiterpene groups. The sesquiterpene compounds present in essential oils have microbial and larvicidal activity. The sesquiterpene antibacterials work by affecting the permeability and protein membrane activity of these microorganisms. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of Δ-guaiene of patchouli oil againstEscherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This antibacterial test was carried out by the well diffusion method at various concentrations (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% v/v) to determine the diameter of the inhibitory power. The results of this study indicate that the largest zone of inhibition was found at a concentration of 80% for Escherichia coli and 100% for Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract

The leaves will absorb energy from sunlight and convert it into chemical energy which is stored in the form of sugar through photosynthesis. One of plants part mechanism that is controlled by sunlight is the stomata. The purpose of this study was to determine the stomata characteristics of paddy gogo leaves based on the altitude of the growing place in Jayawiaya Regency. There search was conducted in January – March 2019 in three agroecosystem zones in Jayawijaya Regency with five Paddy gogo varieties, namely the Inpago Unsoed 1 variety, Inpago Unsoed Parimas, Inpari 28, Inpago 9 and one local variety of Wamena (Moai) as comparison, which used a randomized block design method with varieties as a treatment and repeated 3 times for each agroecosystem zone. The results showed the varieties that resistant to environmental conditions in Jayawijaya Regency were Inpari 28 variety in Walelagama District (Zone1), Local of Wamena variety (Moai) in Kurulu District (Zone2) and Inpago Unsoed 1 variety in Sogokmo District (Zone3). This is because the high level of stomata density or the stomata index indicates that the plant cannot with stand water stress conditions or sub-optimall and conditions
