Abstract

Tomato plant (Solanum lycopersicum) is a horticultural plant that has high economic value. The demand for tomatoes per year is an average of 20%. In order to meet the demand for tomatoes, it is necessary to increase tomato production both in quality and quantity. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of phosphate solubilizing bacteria (BPF), the use of organic matter, and the effect of the interaction of phosphate solubilizing bacteria (BPF) and organic matter on soil pH, soil available P, the number of P solvent microbial populations and the growth of tomato plants. The design used in this study was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, namely the first factor was the concentration of Pseudomonas sp. which consists of 3 levels, namely without giving the bacteria Pseudomonas sp. (P0), giving the bacteria Pseudomonas sp. 10 ml (P1), and giving the bacteria Pseudomonas sp. 20 ml (P2). The second factor was the provision of organic material in the form of goat manure dosage consisting of 2 levels, namely without organic material (B0), and with organic material of 100 gr / polybag (P1). The parameters observed were plant height growth, number of leaves, shoot wet weight, crown dry weight, number of flowers, available soil P, soil pH, and the total population of soil P solubilizing microbes. The results showed that there was an interaction between the inoculum of Pseudomonas sp. and organic matter affects the growth of plant height, number of leaves, shoot wet weight, crown dry weight, number of flowers, available soil P, soil pH, and total soil P solvent microbes

Abstract

Abstract

One of the Government's efforts to create a prosperous society, sustainable forests, and maintained food security in Indonesia is the issuance of Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 83/2016, Concerning Social Forestry. Social Forestry (Social Forestry) is a system in the management of forest resources in state and private forests by involving communities around the forest as the main actors in forest management. This research is conducting to determine the impact of the Forestry Partnership Scheme Social Forestry Program on forest conservation and forest farmer income. The Social Forestry Program has a good impact on forest sustainability and the income of forest farmers. In 2017-2019 the high level of involvement of LMDH and farmers can support the success of crops with a value of 90-97% or tremendous growth, for overcoming forest and fire security disturbances. In 2019, the involvement of Farmers and LMDH was very high in 6 times a year, supporting the small number of forest security disturbances that only occurred four times with a loss of only Rp. 7,012,000, and can reduce the area of forest fires from 17 Ha to 4 Ha. In the income sector, through the PS program of the forestry partnership scheme, the average net income of farmers in a year is Rp. 324,950,000 or 62.5% of the total gain and Rp. 195.510.00 or 37.5% obtained from other sources of income (livestock, trading, and other jobs).

Abstract

Sorghum bran is a by-product of sorghum flour production which can still be used as animal feed. The low palatability is a one of the obstacles in using sorghum bran as native chicken feed. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential use of sorghum bran as feed on the performance and meat quality of native chicken. 180 DOC native chickens were divided into 3 treatments and 6 replications using a completely randomized design for 60 days. The treatments used were different level of sorghum bran usage in the feed, namely; 0% (control), 10% (T1), 20% (T2). The data observed included feed consumption, growth, feed conversion ratio, carcass percentage and meat quality. Giving up to 20% sorghum bran in feed did not significantly affect the feed consumption, growth, feed conversion, carcass percentage, and meat quality of native chicken. Therefore, sorghum bran can be used as an energy source of feed up to 20% and has no negative effect on the performance and quality of local chicken meat

Abstract

Patchouli oil has the content of α-guaiene as one of the dominant components. The α-guaiene compound is one of the seskuiterpen groups that has antibacterial capabilities, but there have been no reports of antimicrobial activity of the α-guaiene compound. Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria are normal human microbials that often cause nosocomial infections (originating from hospital environments). This study aims to find out the antibacterial activity of α-guaiene with a purity of 37,50%. The method used is the test of the diameter of the well diffusion method against the bacteria S. aureus ATCC 25923 and S. epidermidis ATCC 12228. The study used variations in α-guaiene concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. The α-guaiene material used is the result of the process of distillation fractionation of patchouli oil, so that it is obtained α-guaiene components with a purity of 37,50%. The results showed that the α-guaiene components with purity of 37,50% able to inhibit the growth of both test bacteria, with the highest antibacterial activity found in the bacteria S. aureus in concentration variation of 60% with an average resistance diameter value of 10,33 mm. In conclusion, α-guaiene components with purity of 37,50% indicate the existence of antibacterial activity.

Abstract

The purpose of the study  knowing the interest of the young generation in the organic agriculture field, its effect on the development of organic rice cultivation in Ngemplak Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region which was held from May to August 2020 in Widodomartani Village. The location was determined purposively because it has organic farmer groups and livestock groups. The samples were determined purposively, namely the young generation aged 16-35 years. Sampling was selected by simple random sampling. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was performed by qualitative descriptive analysis, the results of which were presented in tabulated form. To measure the interest of the young generation, measured using the Likert Scale Technique. From the analysis, it is known that the young generation's interest in organic farming is classified as less interested in the agroinput sub-system with an average score of 2.45 (61.25%), the cultivation sub-system with an average score of 2.27 (61.82%). ) and the marketing sub-system with an average score of 2.46 (61.47%). This is because they consider agriculture to be a job that is not promising and dirty and tiring so that the number of organic farmers in Widodomartani Village has not increased, even though organic rice production has increased since 2017. The efforts and roles of related parties such as government, businessmen, private sector and organic practitioners are very much  needed to attract young people to engage in organic agriculture.
