Abstract

Sulawesi Tengah Province (Sulteng) is in the Wallacea region wich have endemic fish. In addition, the government has also introduced fish for the welfare of community. So far the records of freshwater fish in Sulteng have not been well summarized. Therefore, we explore the results of previous studies fish species in 11 lakes and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. The lake (L) is L. Bolano (Bolanosau), L. Lindu, L. Poso, L. Rano, L. Rano Kodi and L. Rano Bae, L. Sibili, L. Talaga (Dampelas), L. Kalimpa’a (Tambing), L. Tiu and L. Wanga. In addition, we also observed fish in seven lakes between 2012-2019. Fishing uses cast net, seine net, gillnet, and hook and line. Summary and observation result showed that there were 18 families and 27 genera of fish in 11 lake and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. Then there are 15 endemic species in 3 habitats (Lindu, Poso and Tiu), namely Adrianichthys 4 species, Oryzias 6 species, Mugilogobius 2 species and Nomorhamphus 3 species. Introduced fish as many as 23 species, Oreochromis niloticus the most found (8 lakes). Lake Poso (30 species) has the most fish species. Utilization of fish in 11 lake as consumption fish and ornamental fish. Especially for endemic fish, in situ (habitat) and / or ex situ (aquaculture) conservation needs to be carried out in order to remain sustainable. Through aquaculture, the breeding of endemic species that have the potential as ornamental fish and/or consumption can be avoided from exploitation (overfishing) in nature.

Abstract

Tuing waters become the main catchment area of squid in Bangka Regency. Bait is one important factor in squid fishing trying to captivate the target with something as its prey is in the form of smell, taste, movement, shape and color both artificial baits and natural baits. The objective of the study was to analyze the catch of squid with different baits. The research was conducted in May 2016 in Tuing Waters of Bangka Regency. The method used in this research is the trial of catching the squid. Analysis of data used using Mann Whitney test. Taking data 4 times a month using squid fishing line. The results obtained between fishing with artificial feed and natural baits differ significantly because of Z count (2.17)> Z table (1.96), then H0 is rejected. This is because the waters of Tuing in May 2016 are not the season for the cultivation of the umi-squid. The catching season of squid occurs in November-Desenber in Tuing Waters. Squid is highly associated with environmental factors such as salinity, temperature and depth of water. Chemical Physical Factors The aquatic waters against the catch of squid.

Abstract

The nature of cannibalism in snakehead fish (Channa stiata) causes high mortality in snakehead fish farming. Good and proper management is needed to minimize its cannibalism. The aims of this research were intended to find out the feeding frequency and feeding rate in growth performance and survival rate of snakehead fish seed. This research was conducted with Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD), which consisted of 2 factors, feeding rate and feeding frequency each with triplicates. The treatments of feeding rate were 3%, 5%, and 7% and the treatments of feeding frequency were 3 and 4 times everyday. The used feed is commercial feed PF-800. The result of this research indicated that feeding rate 7% with 4 times feeding frequency each day was the highest absolute weight and length of growth rate than the other treatments. The highest value in survival rate parameter was feeding rate 3% with 3 and 4 times/day. On the other hand, the lowest value in FCR parameter was feeding rate 5% with 3 times feeding frequency each day. Meanwhile, the highest value in protein retention parameter was feeding rate 5% with 3 times/day. The result showed that there was any interaction in absolute weight of growth rate and protein retention. The single factor in form of feeding rate gave significant results of survival value and feed conversion ratio. The result of this research showed that feed management of 7% FR with 4 times/day FF gave the best result in growth, FCR, and protein efficiency of snakehead fish. Although, it has the lowest SR value, but 7% FR with 4 times/day FF can produce the highest biomass of snakehead fish in this study reached 114,45g.

Abstract

Traditional ponds fail in vanname shrimp farming due to disease. Disease causing pathogens can come from the culture environment, innate from shrimp seeds, and other inputs (introduction). Observation of shrimp health condition through detection of necrosis in swimming legs which, if left unchecked, will spread to the shrimp abdominal carapace, with the characteristics of the shrimp will look flushed by taking shrimp samples, and the results are expressed in percentage or prevalence. Symptoms of loss of swimming legs and uropod from the disease, of course, will reduce the selling value of the shrimp. The study was conducted on a traditional pond in Banyuanyara Village, Sanrobone District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Early cases of necrosis began to be detected at week 5th and peaked at week 8th. Vanname shrimp swimming leg necrosis in traditional ponds is significantly influenced by the number of bacteria in the water, where the more bacteria there are, the lower the prevalence of vanname shrimp swimming leg necrosis.

Abstract

Cempedik fish (Osteochilus spilurus) has an important economic value in East Belitung. Still, its trade has not been identified in the Belitung Regency, which is in the western part of Belitung Island. Belitung community perceptions related to fish catching, consumption, and understanding of this fish need to be known to complement the results of studies in East Belitung. Techniques of data collection were carried out using structured interviews in the Membalong District, which has 55% of the Belitung Regency river. The community responses were compared with secondary data of East Belitung citizens. The majority of respondents said that they knew and consumed Cempedik Fish, knew their fishing season and fishing gear, and were optimistic about their cultivation potential. The majority of respondent say knows, consumes, knows the fishing season and fishing gear, and optimistic for the potential farming of Cempedik fish. Most of the Cempedik fish consumption is obtained from catching in the river. Fishing season of Cempedik fish occurs in the dry season, with the majority of fishing gear used are nets. The difference in fishing season and economic value with East Belitung provides opportunities for fish distribution to meet market needs.

Abstract

Freshwater fish farming in West Bangka Regency is developing to meet the needs of the local market. Information about the distribution and production of fish farmers groups (Pokdakan) can be used as a basis for planning sustainable development. This research was conducted using a survey method in July - September 2019 in Muntok District, West Bangka Regency. Fifteen Pokdakan scattered in seven villages with the majority developing catfish commodities. There is only one group that belongs to the middle class, while the other group is still in the beginner class. Freshwater fish productivity reaches 3.2 tons per quarter. The majority of Pokdakan utilize former tin mines with step-in-net cage for fish farming so that their productivity is affected by the season. Continuity of production is needed so that the class of Pokdakan can increase.

Abstract

The results of spawning in sangkuriang catfish farming do not always go according to the expected results, as many eggs died before hatcing. Therefore, it is necessary to use spawning hormones which can improve egg quality in order to increase profits in cultivation. This research was aimed to determine the difference on success performance of sangkuriang catfish using HCG, Ovaprim, and Spawnprim. This research used a randomized block design (RAK) with 3 treatments i.e P1 (HCG 500 IU/kg), P2 (Ovaprim 0,5 ml/kg), P3 (Spawnprim 0,5 ml/kg) and 3 groups of repetition i.e K1 (spawning group day-1), K2 (spawning group day-2), and K3 (spawning group day-3). The results of this research showed that using Ovaprim hormone had the highest value than other treatments like on latent time 606±17,78 minutes, egg fertilization percentage 75±2,65%, and egg hatching percentage 69,33±5,69%. Then on egg fecundity and egg diameter showed no significant effect with other treatments.
