Abstract

Anti-bacterial is a compound that can be used to inhibit bacterial growth. The compounds that play a role in damaging the cell membrane are phenols, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The phytochemical compounds above have the potential as natural Anti-bacterial on pathogenic bacteria, for example against Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli is a pathogenic microbe in humans that can cause digestive disorders and disrupt the work system of the stomach organs. Seagrass C. rotundata has compounds that are antibacterial, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, steroids, and tannins. C. rotundata can be seen in Indonesian waters. However, it has not been widely used. This study aims to determine the difference in concentration of seagrass extract of C. rotundata against E. coli anti-bacterial activity. The research method used was experimental laboratories with different concentrations of seagrass extract (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%). The results showed that the seagrass extract of C. rotundata was effective as an antibacterial with a middle category, which is the inhibition zone ranging from 5-10 mm. Based on the studies conducted, 72 hours incubation period at 40% concentration was the best concentration to prevent E. coli at the 8.5 mm inhibition zone. Furthermore, bioactive compounds produced by C. rotundata are flavonoid compounds by showing changes in the color of the solution to yellow-orange. In addition, also produces phenol bioactive compounds by showing a change in the color of the solution to greenish, and also produces tannin bioactive compounds by showing a change in the color of the solution to blackish green. The results showed that C. rotundata can be used as a recommendation for the development of Anti-bacterial drugs in the future.

Abstract

Kepala Timah (Aplocheilus panchax, Hamilton 1822) is one of the fish that has the survival abilities to live in a wide variety of quality waters. The ability of A. panchax to survive in acidic waters has begun to be widely studied as extremophile fish to study ecosystems in aquatic habitats that have acidic characteristics. This study aimed to determine the food habits of A. panchax as natural food in acid water of abandoned ex-tin mining activity. The results showed that the natural food for A. panchax was insects larvae or insects that fall on the surface of the waters. The food habits and terminal mouth type confirmed that A. panchax was surface feeder fish, carnivorous fish, larvivorous or insectivorous fish. The sagittiform body type was used A. panchax to did the strategy of feeding behavior by pursue or ambush their prey and it indicated that A. panchax as ambush predator.

Abstract

Encheloclarias tapeinopterus is an endemic catfish found only from Bangka Island, Indonesia. This species is listed as a Vulnerable species based on the IUCN Red List, which means that the population of this species has decreased drastically over time, and it is possible that this species will become extinct in the near future if there are no efforts to save the species. Until now, there have been no reports regarding domestication and conservation efforts for this species. In addition, there has been no socialization and punishment given to people who catch this species. Society can freely catch E. tapeinopterus without any punishment or deterrent effect. Theoretically, Indonesia actually has a Conservation Law, namely Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biodiversity and Its Ecosystems which provides protection for biodiversity. However, this law talks more about the conservation system than providing legal protection for wild animals and their habitats. Based on this, the legal protection of wild animals in Indonesia needs to be improved. In this article, we describe legal certainty if Indonesia can adopt the American Wildlife Protection law "The Endangered Species Act (Esa)" in the framework of efforts to protect the endemic fish Encheloclarias Tapeinopterus which has a vulnerable status. In this paper we compare Law Number 5 of 1990 and The Endangered Species Act law.

Abstract

Abstract

Squid (Loligo sp) is one of the most essential fishery commodities and ranks third after fish and shrimp in commercial fisheries. The freshness of the squid is a very important factor and is closely related to its economic value. One of the actors in the marine commodity storage business at Rebo Beach, Bangka Regency uses Cucumbers to maintain the quality of Squid. Until now there has been no scientific research that proves that Cucumber can be used as a preservative for Squid. For this reason, it is necessary to research to examine the effect of using cucumber at different concentrations and soaking times on the organoleptic assessment of squid quality. This research was conducted in February 2020. The handling process for the Squid was carried out at the Squid shelter in Baturusa, Merawang District, Bangka Regency. In contrast, the organoleptic tests were carried out at the Aquaculture Laboratory of the University of Bangka Belitung. The research was conducted by experimental method. The research variables were differences in the concentration of grated Cucumber and differences in the length of soaking Squid. This study used RAL (Completely Randomized Design) Factorial pattern with 2 factors and 3 replications. Treatment factor by giving grated Cucumber and control or using ice cubes at different times and doses. The soaking times in this study were 24 hours and 48 hours with grated cucumber measurements of 50, 100, and 150 grams per 5 liters of water. Data analysis in this study used the Kruskarwalis test. Squid treated with grated cucumber had the same brightness level as ice cubes after 24 hours of soaking. Giving grated Cucumber does not affect the taste and texture of Squid to the level of people's preferences. Giving grated Cucumber as much as 150 g with 24 hours of soaking time can be accepted by consumers and can compete with Squid which is given ice cube treatment.

Abstract

The water quality feasibility is an important factor in aquaculture activities and increasing the productivity of cultivated fish. The Bangka Belitung University (UBB) is developing nile fish cultivation in earthen ponds using a floating net cage system. However, there has been no study related to the quality of water in earthen ponds that can be used to determine the feasibility of using these ponds for fish farming, especially nile fish. This study aimed to evaluate the water quality for the nile fish-floating net cage aquaculture system at Bangka Belitung University. The physical and chemical parameters observed were pH, temperature, DO, BOD, COD, NH3-N, PO4-P, NO3-N, NO2-N, NH3, C-organic, and minerals. Measurements of fish performance were observed in the form of SR, ADG, SGR, absolute growth (length and weight), and FCR. The results showed that in general the water quality of the earthen pond of UBB was still feasible for nile fish cultivation which produced SR (100%), ADG (0.20 g/day), SGR (2.18%/day), and FCR (1, 3). Water quality engineering can be done by adding a water wheel to increase the concentration of dissolved oxygen and also reduce the activity of Fe and other minerals that cause acidity and inhibit the growth rate of nile fish

Abstract

The trading system for aquaculture products is the process of distributing goods in the form of fish or derivative products from producers to final consumers effectively and efficiently. The objectives of this research are: 1) Analyzing aquaculture supply chain management in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province; and 2) Develop recommendations for the direction of development of the aquaculture trade system. This research method is a survey. The data sources in this research are primary and secondary data. The primary data collection method is qualitative, namely the researcher makes questionnaires, observations and interviews. Secondary data comes from production data from the Fisheries Service/BPS/pokdakan/regency/city companies in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Respondents in this study were informants at the District/City Fisheries Service, Pokdakan, and the shrimp farming industry (micro/small/medium/large scale). Data analysis is descriptive. The research results show that the grouper aquaculture supply chain is more efficient than the shrimp aquaculture supply chain, because it involves more companies from outside the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The direction of development of the aquaculture trade system which refers to supply chain management has not yet implemented Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 5/Permen-KP/2014 concerning the National Fish Logistics System (SLIN). Understanding of the cold chain is still low. Then the problem at the collection and storage stage is the availability of facilities (cold storage) as well as the availability of basic infrastructure such as electricity, clean water and others, and the availability of facilities (unplug reefer).
