Abstract

The government’s effort to overcome the high rate of population growth is implementing a family planning program. However, limited access to family planning is undergone by poor population in very great numbers. One factor causing poor couples of childbearing age not to become a family planning acceptor is the limited sources or access to information related to the family planning program. This study aims to find out how poor couples of childbearing age accessed information related to family planning as an initial step to increase family planning acceptors in Yogyakarta. This study used a mixed research method, i.e. quantitative and qualitative designs. Quantitative design was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 368 poor couples of childbearing age selected by using simple random sampling. Qualitative design was carried out with in-depth interviews with six poor couples of childbearing age as well as focus group discussion (FGD) on family planning officers and companions of the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) which were selected purposively. The results of this study were analyzed descriptively and content analysis. The majority of poor couples of childbearing age obtained information on contraceptive methods and free family planning program from midwives in primary health care. Delivered information in the form of home visits was only obtained by 7.3% of respondents. The obstacle experienced by family planning officers and PKH companions in delivered family planning information was the assumption that many children have lots of fortune and certain belief factors that prohibit the use of contraception. There was a need for training on interesting educational methods to PKH companion and health cadres to be forwarded to childbearing couples and the existence of media for family planning education as a guide.

Abstract

After the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the government issued a new policy of learning, working, and worshiping from home. This pandemic has created a crisis that has hit many sectors, one of which is education. Culture shock is a hot issue for teachers and students in facing this new educational situation. Learning using an E-learning system must be done without considering the existing limitations. The impact on tertiary institutions seems not to have been revealed much because it is often considered quite adaptive to the various changes that exist. This study used a quantitative approach with two times data collection, which is based on random sampling of all active students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UNISBA and tracing the severe economic impacts on the student’s family environment using a survey instrument. The problems that dominate students are internet network, limited internet data, and the economic condition of the family in carrying out learning activities from home. This condition can open the possibility of an increase in the level of pressure focusing on learning and problems with the decline in the family economy.

Abstract

Due to Covid-19 transmission, the educational facilities in Indonesia were closed and teachers had to work from home (WFH). It caused face-to-face learning turn into online learning and online training. This study aimed to identify costs incurred by Indonesian teachers for online training during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection was carried out by distributing online questionnaires in Google forms to all teachers participating in the online training. Incoming responses were analyzed using SPSS version 26. The results explained that by having self- isolation at home, teachers used their free time to attend online learning. However, they had to pay extra to buy good internet services to properly attend the training. Before the Covid-19 transmission period, the highest internet cost per month was IDR 0-100,000. While during the Covid-19 pandemic, the highest internet expense per month was IDR 100,000-200,000. It was described by the number of respondents who reached 306 respondents (33.85%).

Abstract

Even though the informal labour still dominates Indonesia workforce, the trend of formal labour increases each year. BPS data shows that in 2015, the percentage of formal labor reached 42,25 percent. Then it increased to 44,28 percent in 2019. As a capital-intensive sector, formal sector supports economy of Indonesia, because it is relatively safe or less prone to shut down. However, the determination of the global pandemic status on March 11, 2020 due to Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) has hit the world economy, including Indonesia. To suppress the spread of Covid-19, people are asked to work, study, or pray from home. This causes many companies suffer losses and even close their businesses, thus impacting workers. Based on data from the Ministry of Manpower 13 April 2020 as many as 1.2 million formal labour have been furloughed and 212.4 thousand have been laid off. This study aims to observe the trends of formal labour in Indonesia and the impact of Covid-19 on formal labour in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data obtained from various sources which are analyzed descriptively.

Abstract

This study aims to observe and analyze the development of trend of COVID 19 and its potential impact on changes in population composition based on age structure in Indonesia. Using Covid-19 cases data obtained from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and forecasting method by comparing several models, the study findings indicate that the trend shows increasing cases and will continue to rise as long as there is no intervention. Experimentally, the mortality cases dominated by the male and elderly population are the possible causes to the change in the composition of the population based on the age structure. Hence, it is necessary to immediately intervene it in the form of policies in health sector that are more appropriate to maintain the sustainability of Indonesia’s human resources since demographic dynamics, particularly in terms of sex, age structure, and health conditions, also have a significant macroeconomic implication.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks 23rd as the most COVID-19 confirmed cases in the world. DKI Jakarta and East Java provinces have the highest cases in Indonesia. However, data on the transmission of COVID-19 in both provinces were not further analyzed regarding vulnerability between genders. This research attempted to compare the differences in the gender distribution of COVID-19 cases by analyzing data from COVID-19 DKI Jakarta and East Java Task Force Information Center and various biological, medical, and socio-cultural studies to understand risk of women being exposed to COVID-19. The results of this research revealed that both provinces had a higher number of confirmed patients under surveillance (PDP), people under surveillance (ODP), and death cases in men than that of women. In DKI Jakarta, the number of recovered cases in men was higher than that of women, but in East Java it was not significantly different. Based on literature reviews, women were more resilience in manifestations of COVID-19 severity than that of men due to differences in ACE2 gene distribution and expression, hormones regulations, immune responses, comorbidities, and ages. However, data from socio-cultural literature reviews in both provinces showed women were vulnerable to be exposed to COVID-19 since many women performed as health workers, office workers, market traders, public transportation users, and did religious activities. Besides, women were vulnerable due to mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety, and special medical condition (e.g. being exposed to or infected with COVID-19 during pregnancy).

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has infected thousands of people in Indonesia. A strong immune system can ward off COVID-19 transmission. This study aims to determine the prevention of COVID-19 by strengthening the body’s immune system through self- healing. This study uses qualitative methods with analytical descriptive methods. The research subjects were three People in Monitoring (ODP) COVID-19. Based on extensive interviews and observations at the research site as the main tool for data collection, this study produced several findings. First, there are two causes of the decline in the body’s immune system: medical and psychological factors. Medically, the causes of the body’s immune system are weak: lack of exercise, consuming less nutritious food, dehydration, and lack of sleep. Psychological factors, the cause of the body’s immune system is weak due to stress, anger, fear, tension, and emotional. Second, preventing COVID-19 by strengthening the body’s immune system through self-healing, namely self-healing mentally and self-healing physically. Mental self-healing includes relaxation, contemplation, strengthening worship, and happiness. While the physical self-healing includes eating with nutritious and balanced food, maintaining physical fitness, maintaining hygiene, and health. A strong immune system through self-healing can prevent individual from COVID-19. Suggestions for further researchers is that they can broaden the scope of research by examining more deeply, such as variations in research subjects and variable, data analysis.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused acute non-health impacts for various levels of society, including young families in rural areas of Java. This study presents the results of research that focus on the experiences of young families who work in the informal sector in overcoming the economic impacts due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The young families in this study were those who got married less than 10 years and/or had the oldest child aged less than 10 years. By using an anthropological approach and applying data collection method through participatory observations and in-depth interviews, this study concluded that there were two factors that made them be the most vulnerable group, yet they could face economic emergencies at the same time, such as first, their ability to optimize social capital to increase their own capacity and their family’s capacity in the face of economic vulnerability. They did productive economic activities by optimizing very limited work networks to survive their life. Second, they carefully performed minimal income management so that they could survive and fulfill the minimum household needs as a household unit.
