Abstract

This article attempts to schedule flow shop production using Nawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) to schedule jobs machining. The objective of this paper is to minimize total makespan which could reduce total production costs. This paper is based on the case study where NEH is applied in scheduling jobs in machines and then compared with the existing machine’s scheduling. The algorithm of NEH is also used to reduce idle time of machines so that the utility or performances of the machine are maintained.  The results of NEH simulation indicate that by applying NEH algorithm to scheduling machines for 10 jobs and 5 machines can reduce 2.5 per cent or 118 minutes of completing time of jobs. It also decreases total idle time of machines about 582 minutes compared with the existing scheduling.

Abstract

Production of wood in Indonesia is no longer able to meet their need, which is opening an opportunity for study in material alternatives. Coconut fiber is very potential material for wood replacement composite, since its availability is abundant and its utilization is still low. Meanwhile, some factors have been studied as single affecting variable for natural fiber composite. The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence factors of alkali treatment, fiber length, fiber volume fraction and interaction between factors on the tensile strenght of coco-fiber polyester composite. 108 pieces of composites have been prepared as speciments of tensile test which comply ASTM D 638 standard. The testing result was processed using  completely randomized full  factorial experiment. The experiment showed significant difference for all three factors. The highest value of tensile strenght is 22.57 MPa for 2 hours alkali treatment, 10 mm fiber length and fiber volume fraction of 35%. This value has met the standard minimum tensile strength of hardboard according to ANSI A135.4 2004.

Abstract

Persaingan antar pelaku bisnis semakin ketat dalam era globalisasi yang menuntut perusahan untuk dinamis dan adaptif terhadap perubahan lingkungan bisnis. Perubahan kearah strategi yang dapat diimplementasikan sesuai dengan perkembangan pasar memerlukan system kendali yang seimbang dalam perspektif  finansial, pelanggan, proses bisnis dan pertumbuhan learning and growth yaitu dalam Balanced Scorecard. Dalam perspektif learning and growth merupakan hal mendasar untuk diperhatikan sebagai kontribusi sumber daya manusia dalam implementasi strategi. Workforce Scorecard dirancang untuk keperluan sebagai sebuah alat pengukuran yang lebih mendalam untuk memastikan terpenuhinya perspektif tersebut. Terdapat empat perspektif yang digunakan sebagai indicator yaitu kesuksesan pekerja, kepemimpinan dan perilaku, kompetensi, serta pola fikir dan budaya. Penelitian aplikatif tahap pertama  analisa dan matriks SWOT untuk perancangan Balanced Scorecard.  Dari hasil perpektif learning and growth dirumuskan Workforce Scorecard dan dilakukan klasifikasi penentuan tenaga kerja di posisi “A”. Kinerja yang dihasilkan adalah 77.52%  dan harus ditingkatkan pelayanan maksimal kepada pelanggan.

Abstract

SERVQUAL is a service quality measurement model that is assumed to be widely applicable in every sector of service industry, yet research proves the opposite. Characteristic of customer in each segment can be a factor that causes differences in measurement model. According to that fact, this research is conducted to identify the difference of measurement model in each customer segment, especially in e-banking industry. Not only we identify the measurement model,  this research is done to confirm the relationship between 3 constructs as well, which are service quality, satisfaction, and loyalty. Several statistical method will be introduced here in relationship with segmentation process, measurement model identification, dan the three constructs validation process. Segmentation process yields 2 customer segments which are people with high and moderate expectation to service quality. In the first segment, the measurement model consists of 4 quality dimensions, which are fullfilment, efficiency, assurance, and web design while there are 5 dimensions in the second segment which are fulfillment, responsiveness, information technology, assurance, and efficiency. There are also significant relationships among service quality, satisfaction, and loyalty.

Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan pada produk yang berupa alas kaki (sandal pria). Berdasarkan hasil observasi dapat diidentifikasi belum adanya upaya dari produsen/perajin alas kaki untuk melakukan penelusuran terhadap harapan dan keinginan konsumen akan produk alas kaki yang sesuai dengan perasaan psikologis konsumen. Di sisi lain kesadaran dan keinginan konsumen akan desain produk semakin meningkat. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk mengetahui citra atau harapan konsumen akan produk alas kaki yang berupa sandal pria melalui pendekatan emosional dan psikologis, sehingga dapat dilakukan perancangan dan pengembangan produk alas kaki yang sesuai dengan citra dan harapan mereka. Metode Kansei Engineering digunakan untuk memformulasikan rancangan produk alas kaki berdasarkan perasaan psikologis konsumen yang tercermin melalui kata kansei. Kuesioner yang digunakan pada metode Kansei Engineering ini adalah kuesioner elemen desain dan kuesioner semantic differential. Model Kano digunakan untuk memetakan atribut-atribut produk berdasarkan perfomansinya. Hasil akhir penelitian ini adalah dengan mengintegrasikan kedua metode tersebut sehingga diketahui bahwa desain yang sesuai dengan citra/image dan perasaan pskologis konsumen adalah desain dua kategori Kano, yaitu one-dimensional dan indifferent.

Abstract

PKS “XYZ” merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang pengolahan kelapa sawit. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah Crude Palm Oil (CPO) dan Palm Kernel Oil (PKO). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisa kehilangan minyak (oil losses) dan faktor-faktor penyebab dengan menggunakan metoda Statistical Process Control. Statistical Process Control adalah sekumpulan strategi, teknik, dan tindakan yang diambil oleh sebuah organisasi untuk memastikan bahwa strategi tersebut menghasilkan produk yang berkualitas atau menyediakan pelayanan yang berkualitas. Sampel terjadinya oil losses pada CPO yang diteliti adalah tandan kosong (tankos), biji (nut), ampas (fibre), dan sludge akhir. Berdasarkan Peta Kendali I-MR dapat disimpulkan bahwa kondisi keempat jenis oil losses CPO berada dalam batas kendali dan konsisten.  Sedangkan nilai Cpk dari total oil losses berada di luar batas kendali rata-rata proses, hal ini berarti CPO yang diproduksi telah memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan, dengan total oil losses kurang dari batas maksimum yang ditetapkan oleh perusahaan yaitu 1,65%.

Abstract

Employee is one of the main assets that support the success of an organization, so their performance will affect performance of the organization as a whole. This study aims to evaluate the application and determine the effect of incentive systems and other factors on job performance. Methods of data collection in this study consists of literature review, interviews and collecting questionnaires. A total of 103 questionnaires distributed to nonacademic employees at an educational institution. Data processing in this study, among others, evaluation of incentives satisfaction, correlation test using Pearson and Partial Least Squares (PLS) to predict the relationship between the variables. The results showed that salaries are the most important priority to be obtained at work. Relationships between variables in terms of a significant correlation between the variable conditions of employment, the willingness achievers, and incentives for job performance variables. In the design of the proposed incentives, provision of incentives aimed at increasing productivity and work motivation, maintaining equality and feasibility at incentives, and maintaining the welfare of employees. In addition, the design of proposed incentives gives adjustment to the amount of family allowance, responsibility allowance, general allowance, as well as performance benefits.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is one of some cigarette companies in Indonesia. In producing cigarette, the firm requires a material named “etiket” which is produced by printing division for internal consumers of PT. XYZ. In order to produce “etiket”, there are some wastes occurred. One of wastes occurred in printing division is product defects. This paper attempts to identify wastes in the division of printing using Lean Manufacturing approach by applying Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method. The results from cause root analysis found that the problems caused the defects in production process. It shows that the most wastes occurs in the printing division are product defect and waiting time. The product defects are caused because there is no standard applied in processing the product and poor inspections by management, while the causes of waiting time wastes is because of lack of carrier and no standard in each process. The recommendation can be suggested to the company are adding some carrier (product’s transporter), creating process standard in each process.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a food and beverage company in Indonesia which produces many kinds of products with several different packing size since 1979. PT. XYZ always strives to improve production efficiency, especially in minimizing waste and loss that occur in every process of production. This study was conducted to calculate the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of packaging machines at line 2 of PT. XYZ and identify the cause of the loss and waste that exist during production process. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a method to evaluate how effectively a manufacturing operation is utilized. The result of this research indicated that the OEE percentages of packaging machines both Weighing and SVB do not meet the company’s standards, which is 80 %. The main factor causing the declining value of OEE is machine availability and it is happened because the machine operator takes a long time to set up the machine.

Abstract

Penggunaan teknologi informasi, dimana komputer sebagai medianya kini semakin meningkat. Frekuensi yang tinggi akan penggunaan komputer yang tidak memperhatikan sisi ergonomi dalam bekerja mengakibatkan adanya resiko yang dirasakan oleh pengguna. PT. XYZ merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang menggunakan komputer sebagai salah satu alat utama dalam bekerja. Pada penggunaannya karyawan pada Departemen Publishing merasakan keluhan pada punggung, pinggang, nyeri bahu, leher dan tangan. Keluhan yang dirasakan oleh pekerja pada Departemen publishing dapat diminimalkan dengan cara mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi postur kerja pada pekerja dalam menggunakan komputer. Identifikasi tersebut digunakan untuk mengetahui kondisi pekerja dan mengetahui penyebab keluhan yang dirasakan oleh pekerja untuk dilakukan perbaikan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan metode ROSA untuk mengurangi adanya keluhan yang dirasakan oleh pekerja pada Departemen publishing. ROSA merupakan salah satu metode pada office ergonomics, dimana penilaiannnya dirancang untuk mengukur resiko yang terkait dengan penggunaan komputer serta untuk menetapkan tingkat tindakan perubahan berdasarkan laporan dari ketidaknyamanan pekerja. Dengan menggunakan metode ROSA, dapat diketahui apakah postur kerja karyawan pada Departemen Publishing pada saat bekerja aman atau berbahaya. Hasil analisis postur kerja menggunakan metode ROSA pada Departemen Publishing menunjukkan bahwa seluruh pekerja yang menjadi sampel memiliki level resiko yang tinggi dan perlu dilakukan perbaikan segera.  Perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi tingkat resiko yang dirasakan oleh pekerja yaitu dengan perbaikan fasilitas yang digunakan oleh pekerja yang sesuai dengan standar ergonomi, melakukan sosialisasi kepada pekerja tentang pentingnya ergonomi pada dunia kerja, dan sebaiknya pekerja melakukan istirahat atau peregangan otot minimal setiap tiga jam sekali.
