Abstract

Production of wood in Indonesia is no longer able to meet their need, which is opening an opportunity for study in material alternatives. Coconut fiber is very potential material for wood replacement composite, since its availability is abundant and its utilization is still low. Meanwhile, some factors have been studied as single affecting variable for natural fiber composite. The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence factors of alkali treatment, fiber length, fiber volume fraction and interaction between factors on the tensile strenght of coco-fiber polyester composite. 108 pieces of composites have been prepared as speciments of tensile test which comply ASTM D 638 standard. The testing result was processed using  completely randomized full  factorial experiment. The experiment showed significant difference for all three factors. The highest value of tensile strenght is 22.57 MPa for 2 hours alkali treatment, 10 mm fiber length and fiber volume fraction of 35%. This value has met the standard minimum tensile strength of hardboard according to ANSI A135.4 2004.

Abstract

Jamur tiram adalah jamur yang dapat dimakan, yang tidak hanya lezat dalam rasa tapi juga kaya akan nutrisi. Jamur Tiram merupakan komoditas utama di Sukoharjo. Permasalahannya adalah bagaimana menerapkan strategi bagi para pembudidaya untuk meningkatkan varietas produk jamur tiram. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah dengan mengeringkan dan mengolahnya menjadi tepung jamur tiram. Berkaitan dengan permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan perancangan dan penerapan alat pengering energi surya (solar dryer). Alat pengering energi surya yang diimplementasikan mampu mengeringkan 5-10 kg jamur tiram segar dalam waktu 50 -72 jam. Untuk memproses tepung jamur tiram, digunakan penggiling makanan (food grinder) yang telah terbukti efektif untuk industri skala kecil dan menengah (300 kg per bulan) dengan investasi yang rendah dan juga mudah digunakan. Untuk metode sosialisasi dan pelatihan pengeringan dan penepungan jamur tiram, disiapkan modul pelatihan dan video yang berisi Standar Prosedur Operasional (SOP) proses produkdi alat pengering surya, dan juga proses pengeringan serta penepungan jamur tiram.

Abstract

Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) better known as an external fixation product from several types of fixation devices in the orthopedic field. The Laboratory of Product Planning and Design has manufactured TSF or called OrthoLPPDUNS external fixations. The OrthoLPPDUNS design found that frame instability forming ring-strut angles caused by strut screw rotations was feeling rough due to backlash. The purpose is how to redesign an OrthoLPPDUNS with a Function Analysis System Technique (FAST). FAST method is applied at each stage of starting from the information stage to the interpretation of the results. The OrthoLPPDUNS design with the joint system uses custom components that cause weakness in frame stability. The use of standard components in joint systems can provide solutions to external fixations, although there are still weaknesses in the ring-strut angle. The OrthoLPPDUNS redesign has a better success rate in terms of stability parameters, allowing more precise bone reconstruction.

Abstract

Pekarangan rumah mencerminkan budaya suatu kelompok masyarakat kreatif. Pemanfaatan lahan disekitar rumah tinggal menjadikan komoditas nilai ekonomi akan memberikan dampak bagi ekonomi kerluarga. Lahan perkarangan terbatas melalui budidaya tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) yang memiliki khasiat obat sangat cocok untuk memenuhi kebutuhan obat keluarga. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah bagaimana memperkenal kepada masyarakat desa Tanjungsari Boyolali dengan budidaya tanaman TOGA `dengan pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan yang tidak memerlukan lahan yang luas dalam upaya persediaan obat herbal keluarga. Pengabdian ini melibatkan pihak Kelurahan, siswa anak-anak Sekolah Dasar (SD), dan mahasiswa kelompok KKN 103 Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. Memperkenalkan tanaman TOGA dengan percontohan pemanfaatan lahan pekarangan di SD Negeri 1 Tanjungsari dengan tanaman suruh, daun sereh, dan kunci. Pemilihan tanaman TOGA disebabkan ketersediaan tanaman mudah, tahan terhadap lingkungan dan memiliki khasiat sebagai obat herbal. Dampak kegiatan ini tumbuh kepedulian warga dengan memberdayakan budidaya TOGA sebagai obat herbal. Pelaksanaan program kerja ini disambut antusias oleh warga dan memberikan nilai ekonomi tersendiri bagi keluarga.

Abstract

The rapid progression of technology and robotics has brought about a transformative revolution in various fields. From industrial automation to healthcare and beyond, robots have become integral parts of our society, such as using them to move laparoscopic cameras. Eye-gaze-based control in robotics is a cutting-edge innovation, providing enhanced human–robot interaction and control. However, current research is in the underexplored area of gaze-based control for robotics. This paper presents a systematic bibliometric analysis review of controlling robots using gaze estimation. The aim is to provide a research map overview of the use of eye gaze to control robots by clustering application areas based on ISIC-UN and several data acquisition technologies. Over the past 10 years, the number of publications in this field has been relatively stable, averaging 21.5 papers per year, with minimal fluctuations in annual article counts (σ = 4.9). This differs from research on robotics, which grows by an average of 1376 papers per year. Research on using eye gaze for robot control in the last 10 years in the field of human health and social work has only resulted in 17 articles; transportation and storage resulted in 12 articles; professional, scientific, and technical activities resulted in eight articles; information and communication resulted in five articles; and education and art resulted in two articles. Data acquisition technology for eye gaze research, primarily using a commercial eye tracker. Thus, there is significant potential for future research through the utilization of gaze estimation in various fields, as mentioned above.

Abstract

Additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the manufacturing sector, particularly with the advent of 3D printing technology, which allows for the creation of customized, cost-effective, and waste-free products. However, concerns about the strength and reliability of 3D-printed products persist. This study focuses on the impact of three crucial variables—infill density, printing speed, and infill pattern—on the strength of PLA+ 3D-printed products. Our goal is to optimize these parameters to enhance product strength without compromising efficiency. We employed Charpy impact testing and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to analyze the effects of these variables in combination. Charpy impact testing provides a measure of material toughness, while RSM allows for the optimization of multiple interacting factors. Our experimental design included varying the infill density from low to high values, adjusting printing speeds from 70mm/s to 100mm/s, and using different infill patterns such as cubic and others. Our results show that increasing infill density significantly boosts product strength but also requires more material and longer processing times. Notably, we found that when the infill density exceeds 50%, the printing speed can be increased to 100mm/s without a notable reduction in strength, offering a balance between durability and production efficiency. Additionally, specific infill patterns like cubic provided better strength outcomes compared to others. These findings provide valuable insights for developing stronger and more efficient 3D-printed products using PLA+ materials. By optimizing these parameters, manufacturers can produce high-strength items more efficiently, thereby advancing the capabilities and applications of 3D printing technology in various industries.

Abstract

Nasi Bebek WkWk bergerak di usaha kuliner, menawarkan kelezatan khas Madura bagi penggemar olahan daging bebek, ayam, dan ikan dengan sambal spesial bumbu hitam. Lokasi berada di daerah Ngoresan, Jebres Surakarta di arah pintu gerbang belakang Universitas Sebelas Maret, area tempat tinggal mahasiswa. Kualitas daging bebek ditawarkan memberikan sensasi rasa antusiasme dengan rasanya gurih dan renyah, dijual harga Rp 28.000 per porsi. Pemasaran mulut ke mulut (word of mouth marketing) dan dikelola secara efisien melalui transformasi digital. Beberapa masalah pada kuliner ini terhadap perubahan ekspektasi pelanggan dan perlu imbangi dengan inovasi dari sisi konsep usaha dan operasional. Kolaborasi antara mahasiswa Teknik Industri Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta selaku pengelola dan dosen di Riset Grup People Centered Innovation memberikan harapan banyak hal positif. Pengelola Nasi Bebek WkWk belum pernah memetakan posisi mengenai kekuatan (Strengths), kelemahan (weaknesses), peluang (opportunities), dan ancaman (threats). Analisis SWOT membantu meningkatkan keunggulan kompetitif terdapat perubahan pada lingkungan usaha. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat dalam peluang usaha kuliner Nasi Bebek WkWk ini adalah melatih pemahaman para pengelola dan karyawan melalui analisis SWOT dan memastikan kelangsungan usaha untuk peningkatan pelanggan.

Abstract

The integration of eye-gaze technology into robotic control systems has shown considerable promise in enhancing human–robot interaction, particularly for individuals with physical disabilities. This study investigates the influence of eye morphology and the use of corrective eyewear on the spatial accuracy of gaze-based robot control under static head pose conditions. Experiments were conducted using advanced eye-tracking systems and multiple machine learning algorithms—decision tree, support vector machine, discriminant analysis, naïve bayes, and K-nearest neighbor—on a participant pool with varied eye shapes and eyewear usage. The experimental design accounted for potential sources of bias, including lighting variability, participant fatigue, and calibration procedures. Statistical analyses revealed no significant differences in gaze estimation accuracy across eye shapes or eyewear status. However, a consistent pattern emerged: participants with non-monolid eye shapes achieved, on average, approximately 1% higher accuracy than those with monolid eye shapes—a difference that, while statistically insignificant, warrants further exploration. The findings suggest that gaze-based robotic control systems can operate reliably across diverse user groups and hold strong potential for use in assistive technologies targeting individuals with limited mobility, including those with severe motor impairments such as head paralysis. To further enhance the inclusiveness and robustness of such systems, future research should explore additional anatomical variations and environmental conditions that may influence gaze estimation accuracy.
