Abstract

It is generally speaking that a country must consider industrial and trade sector in making its global economical policies, as both of them are significant role to supporting national economic growth. According to the writer, when we discuss about experiences in the case of implementing industrial and trade policies in the developing countries, there are three dominant perspective analysis as written in the developmental literature, namely Neoclassical perspective, Structural perspective and Radical perspective. Furthermore, the problem in the industrial and trade policies mostly occurs on three main issues, those are exporting policy, importing policy, and strategic options of industrialization which lies on between import substituting industry or export promoting industry. In this paper, the writer also analyzing economical globalization issue as a big challenge nowadays and proposing strategic anticipatory actions that the developing countries should prepare.

Abstract

This study analyzes spatial inequality through a causal relationship between inequality and economic growth within-recidency, between-recidency and overall in Central Java. The analytical tool used is the Direct Error Correction Model causality. This study shows that spatial concentrations throughout the observation period are quite high. In the 2001-2008 period there was an increasing tendency for spatialconcentration, reflecting the decline in the distribution of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) share of districts and cities in Central Java. We also obtained similar findings in a number of regions both within and between-recidency. Post-2008, spatial concentration tends to decrease, indicating the distribution of the Gross Regional Domestic Product share. Other findings indicate a one-way relationship shown economic growth towards inequality. Another important contribution is that economic growth in inequality only occurs in the long term. Thus there has been convergence because of the increase ineconomic growth which is able to reduce inequality in all areas of Central Java, including within and between-recidency. This proves that during the implementation of regional autonomy there is a spread effect greater than the backwash effect in Central Java, including within and between-recidency.

Research population consist of 29 regencies and 6 municipalities, employing secondary data from Central Bureau of Statistic of Central Java Province and regencies/municipalities level in Central Java Province within the period of 2001 up to 2005. Data analysis is conducted by using path analysis with AMOS program software. The results of this study indicate that, first fiscal decentralization has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Second, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on employment rate. Third, economic growth has a negative and significant effect on poverty. Forth, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on welfare. Fifth, employment rate has a negative and significant effect on welfare. Sixth, poverty has a negative and significant effect on welfare at regencies/municipalities level in Central Java Province.

Abstract

Investment as one of crucial production factor, plays a big role in increasing production as shown through economic growth. In other words, investment becomes a shift variable or a loco of national economic activities.During 1980 until 2002,the investment both PMDN and Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) has grown rapidly. This investment growth especially PMA growth, besides supported by regulation and debureaucratisation which has done by the government, the demand to invest their capital is determined by macroeconomic variables, i.e. Indonesia Gross Domestic Product (GDP), SBI interest rate, domestic deposit interest rate, LIBOR interest rate, and US dollar exchange rate.By using regression analysis with error correction method (ECM), this study will explore the behaviour of several macroeconomic variables on PMA in Indonesia.

Abstract

Consequences of regional autonomy is not easy, this is because a required area should look for alternative sources of financing regional. One of the sources of financing in the Brebes district is the development of seaweed cultivation to be exported to other countries. The calculations show that the investment in seaweed farming is feasible to be developed because of the many advantages gained than seaweed farming. The first advantage of the presence of a source of income for local communities and Brebes district, opening job opportunities broadly, to develop products made from seaweed such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, herbs, jelly, and so forth.

Abstract

This research is intended to describe how concentrate of industrial market of pulp and paper before and after crisis was occur, and to analyze how impact of structure to pulp and paper industrial performances before and after crisis. Method being used in this research is concentration ratio (CR) either CR4 or CR8. This research is also uses multiple regression to see impact of independent variables (market share, cost of capital, efficiency and cost of raw material) to dependent variable (added value). The results of research are concentration ratio (CR) of total raw material, CR of added value, and CR of output; all of those are increase both CR4 and CR8. This means that crisis have had impact toward increasing concentration ratio pulp and paper industries, whereas CR of wage is decrease. CR4 decrease by 13% and CR8 decrease by 14%. The results of this research also indicate that cost of capital have negative impact to added value of company. Companies whose have less capital would have higher profit, vice versa. Cost of raw material has negative impact on company’s profit. Market share has positive impact on company’s profit.

Abstract

The equilibrium exchange rate will change along with the change of demand and supply. Factors causing the change of demand and supply curve among others are the amount of money supply, relative gross domestic product (GDP) ,the level of relative interest rate, and relative priceOne of the ways to analyze the influence of short term and long term is by developing the dynamic model. In this research, the analysis of dynamic model was conducted with Engel-Granger Error Correction Model approach which was developed by Engel-Granger (1987) based on Granger Representation Theorem. The ECM was known that long term exchange rate is influenced by the number of money supply and relative price. The variable which influence short-therm exchenge rate are the ammount of Gross Domestic Product, and interest rate.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate disincentive and crowding-out effect food aid program (public transfer) in household level. Beside the humanitarian roles, there are widespread sceptisms of food assistance regarding its possible influence on disincentive to work and on crowding out of private transfer (inter-household or intergeneration transfer). Based on Indonesia Family Life Survey data and using instrumental variables approach, this paper estimates disincentive effect and crowding out effect “Rice Program for Poor Families” (Raskin) on intergenerational food transfer (child to parents transfer). This research observe significant negative impact on total household income. The decline in income mostly happened through a reduction in head household worker. The paper also find indication of crowding out relation between private and public transfers. It suggests that the Indonesian government should have designed its public transfer scheme carefully in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its social safety net programs.

Abstract

This is well illustrated by recent research into inter-regional development growth disparities. Some researchers have followed the Neoclassical route, emphasizing the role of the Williamson Index, and then can be expressed relationship in general form that in regression and correlation coefficient analysis involving time series data. The objectives of this research was to preview the classification development of disparities and influence factors in the late five years during 1992-1996, case study in SUMBAGSEL. The Analysis can be calculated to measure the government revenue, income regional and contributed tax sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the geographical economic concentration (GEC) in Aceh Province. The Decomposition AGC Index and secondary data for the period 2001-2013 are used in the analysis. The results showed that the GEC in Aceh Province tend to decline about -7.09 percents a year. But, since 2011 the growth increased about 1.27 percent a year. It showed five phases of changes of GEC. When the Aceh Province was proliferated from 13 to 23 districts, economic growth was not driving factor for economic concentration, but as a driving for de-concentration. Government spending density is significant for economic concentration driver, both in the period 2001-2007, and 2008-2013. Government spending per capita is the driven factor for economic concentration during the period 2008-2013. As well in Aceh-13 (period 2001-2013). This suggests that direct government expenditure to be important in developing the center of economic growth in Aceh Province.
