Abstract

HIV is a disease attacking immune system with sexual behaviors as one of its transmission media, especially for those categorized as high-risk groups. The result of Integrated Survey on Biological Behaviors (STBP) defines the TKBM (informal dockworkers) as one of these high-risk groups. The aim of this study is to identify the correlations between characteristics, knowledge, and behaviors of the dockworker on the transmission of HIV through risky sexual behaviors at Kalimas Dock, Surabaya. This study was conducted based on Cross sectional design and quantitative approach. Interview on the 52 respondents of this study was carried out by using questionnaire. This research used Simple random sampling method to chose responden on dockworkers at PT “X”, located at Kalimas Dock, Surabaya. The analysis of the research used Chi Square analysis on the collected data with signifi cance value α < 0.05. The findings of this study show dockworkers coming home frequency (p-value = 0.026; PR= 2.13), knowledge (p-value = 0.013; PR = 3.04), and attitude (p-value = 0.05, PR =2.05) correlate with transmission of HIV at Kalimas Dock. Meanwhile, other factors, such as educational background (p-value = 0.162), marital status (p-value = 0.705), and access towards HIV transmission relatedcounseling (p-value = 1) do not correlates. These findings imply several recommended that public health officers conduct counseling on preventing HIV transmission for dockworkers in order to improve theirknowledge and attitude on HIV. PT “X” should implement weekly working shift for the dockworkers so that the dockworkers could spend more time with their family.Keywords: HIV, Sexual Behavior, Dockworkers

Abstract

The number of premarital sex among adolescents have been increasing. Based on BKKBN’sreport (2014), 46% of adolescents aged 15–19 years old already had premarital sex experience. Therefore, it requires preventions to solve adolescents’ premarital sex problems. This study aims to identify social support to preventive eff orts against premarital sex of high school students X in Surabaya.This descriptive study used qualitative research design and purposive sampling technique to determine the number of sample. Indepth interviewed conducted on 32 informants that were consist of 10 students, 10 close friends, 10 parents and 2 teachers. The results showed that social support especially fromfamilies who provide religious education, contribute to shaping the character of the teens themselves than support from friends and school. The preventive eff orts against premarital sex that can be done are: not dating, be selective in friendship, strengthen their faith and prayers, limiting the friendship, being ina relationship only for good reasons, not watching porn, avoid opposite-sex friends with bad manners, not coming home late at night, being resolute over their principles, learn the danger of premarital sex behavior, widen their social network, and being more active in social activities and hobbies.Keywords: preventive action, premarital sex, adolescents

Abstract

Superherofilm is a type of spectacle that is still widely consumed by children. Data from commonsense.org states that 68% of superhero films which aired in 2011-2016 have PG-13 ratings (Parental Strongly Cautioned) that contain violence and can have an impact on child development. Children who often watch television or movies tend to less concentration, less attention to the environment, and imitate what is shown. This study aimed to determine related factors of parental decisions in allowing children to watch violence films. This research was a quantitative with cross sectional approach. By using simple random sampling technique, the samples of this research taken as many as 93 parents of 3rd grade students at SDN Ketabang Surabaya. The data was collected by using questionnaire. This research used univariat and bivariate analysis. Most respondents are women (58.1%), age 28-45 years (79.6%), work as housewives (30.1%), and head of houshold have high income (68.8%). In relation to parental decisions in allowing children to watch violence films, most respondents have less knowledge (49.47%), less supportive attitude (84.94%), parents as personal reference in making decisions (68.82% ), unfulfilled facilities (52.69%), and high family culture (69.9%). Most respondents allow children to watch violence films (62.4%). The chisquare test showed that knowledge (p=0,000), availability of facilities (p=0,000), head of household income (p=0,000), and family culture (p = 0.002) are siginificantly related to parental decisions in allowing children to watch violence films. While the variables of attitude (p=0,096), personal references (p=0,249), and age (p=0,853) are not significantly related to parental decisions in allowing children to watch violence films.Keywords: children, parental decisions, superhero films, violence films

Abstract

Dental health problem in Indonesia, according to RISKESDAS data 2013, was 25.9% of total population. About 68.9% of them didn’t get treatment from medical personnel and about 25.5% of them were on age 10 to 14. This was the reason why the comic that belong to Health Campaign Central of Indonesian Ministry of Health was used as media of dental health problem campaign. This study was done with questionnaire fulfi llment that conducted by 40 students of SDN Martopuro 01 Kecamatan Purwosari Kabupaten Purwodadi. This study used Quasi Experimental Design. The result of this study describe there was a signifi cant difference between pre-test and post-test score on knowledge variable. This meant that comic about dental health problem which gave to respondent could improve their knowledge. From the belief variable measurement, there was no signifi cant difference between pre-test and post-test score of belief variable, in other way the dental health comic which gave to respondent didn’t improve their belief. Respondent assessed that the content of comic was accurate and fit. This study concluded that comic belonged to Health Campaign Central of Indonesian Ministry of Health could improve the knowledge of fifth grade students of SDN Martopuro, Kecamatan Purwosari KabupatenPasuruan about dental health.Keywords: dental health comic, knowledge, behavior belief

Abstract

One of the factors that are considered important for the development of social welfare inIndonesia is health. Based on data from the WHO, diarrhea and ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection) is aninfectious disease remains a health problem in Indonesia. From the data obtained in 2015, it is knownthat the village Tanah Kalikedinding RW II (RT 07 and 11) has a health problem with the number ofdiarrhea and ARI are quite high, as many as 2.467 cases of diarrhea and 15.207 cases for patients withrespiratory infection. The purpose of this research is to fi nd information about the relationship betweenknowledge and attitudes toward behavior handwashing (CTPS) in the village Tanah Kalikedinding. Theresearch method is analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study is the wholecommunity in the village Tanah Kalikedinding. A total sample of 70 people were selected using simplerandom sampling. The research variables are gender, age, knowledge, education, employm ent, attitudesand behaviors CTPS. The primary data obtained from interviews and questionnaires, while secondarydata obtained from the data clinic. The results showed a determinant factor in the behavior of people inthe CTPS divided into three driving factors are gender, age, knowledge, education, employment, attitudesand behaviors CTPS, enabling factors such as facility and reinforcing factors are health workers. Itis necessary to attempt a programmed extension activities, sustainable, evaluation and monitoring atregular intervals in each program activity CTPS on society as well as involving cross-sector cooperationin every program CTPS on society.Keywords: knowledge, attitudes, behavior, CTPS

Abstract

Husband's support having a role in the success or failure of a mother to breastfeed her baby. The greater the support obtained to breastfeed, the greater the ability to survive. This research aimed to know the husband support with exclusive breastfeeding on infants aged 6-12 months. This research is a non experimental. Time approach used in this study is cross-sectional. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. In conducting data analysis of research results using Kendal Tau formula. This research was conducted at Posyandu Dewisari Kenteng Gadingsari Sanden Bantul Yogyakarta. The population in the study were 44 respondents. The samples in the study were 30 respondents,who had infants aged 6 to 12 months. This study showed that the support of husbands in exclusive breastfeeding included in high category as much as 70%, medium category 6.7% and low category 23.3%. The number of mothers who give exclusive breastfeeding in Posyandu Dewisari many as 16 mothers (53.3%). Mothers who didn't breastfeed exclusively are 14 women (46.7%). Based on the results of the relationship test is known that there is a relationship of support of the husband with exclusive breastfeeding.  It can be concluded if there is a relationship with the husband's support exclusive in breastfeeding. The socialization of the Health Promotion Program needs to be disseminated through various communication media for couples, families and the environment so that husbands' support for exclusive breastfeeding is met. In addition, the husband as the head of the household needs to perform his role as a “support system”, so that the mother can give exclusive breastfeeding by providing support, appreciation, emotional and instrumental  for  mother  that breastfeeding the babies until 6 months, so she can give exclusive breastfeeding.Keywords: Husband support , Exclusive Breastfeeding

Abstract

Indonesian people has long know the, betel leaf, areca nut, and lime is material to betel chewing. Chewing the betel leaf is believed can care teeth by ancestors. They are convinced that slacking can strengthen teeth, cure small cuts in the mouth, eliminate bad breath. Indigenous Papuans engage in slaughtering behavior because of the belief inherited from the ancestors. The frequency of betel chewing practiced by indigenous people of Papua is > 2 times a day by consuming more than two areca nuts and is believed to maintain good oral hygiene. Positive impacts which are felt when doing betel chewing namely; body feels fresh, elimination of bad breath, and restores solid teeth. While the negative impact shows thickness of the tongue, wound on the edge of the mouth, numbness of the tongue, and addicted to chewing betel. Beliefs about the efficacy from betel chewing make people do not take care of dental health. Communities experienced plaque build-up and dental caries. The purpose of this study is to determine the image of belief and the efficacy of betel chewing in Ardipura Village District of South Jayapura City. This study followed a qualitative design approach and study was phenomenology type, and descriptive through active participation, conducted interviews and observations using content analysis technique. The determination of informants in this study uses purposive sampling technique method. Results drawn from this study shows the behavior of betel chewing is believed to strengthen teeth, relieve toothache and drowsiness, eliminate bad breath and betel chewing as a from friendship.Keywords: Betel chewing, Belief, District of South Jayapura city

Abstract

Breastmilk is a the milk produced by the breast of mother which created specially by God. Itwas produced according to the needs of infants who were born by a mother. Exclusive breastfeeding is theprocess of feeding a baby only from breastmilk without other supplementary food until baby is 6 month.One of the factors that aff ect the behavior of breastfeeding is the intention of a mother to breastfeed.The objective of this study is to analyze the factors which aff ect the mother’s intention to exclusivelybreastfeed in Kelurahan Magersari, Sidoarjo. This study is an observational analytic study with aquantitative approach. This study used cross-sectional study design. The sample of this study were 60pregnant women who were society’s member of Kelurahan Magersari, Sidoarjo. Independent variablesof this study are attitude (behavioral beliefs and evaluation of behavioral outcomes) and subjective norm(normative beliefs and motivation to comply). Study results were obtained from questionnaire. Analysistechnique applied is logistic regression test in order to know which factors aff ect the mother’s intention.The dependent variable of this study is the mother’s intention to exclusively breastfeed. The researchresult are from questionnaire. The results obtained that the factors that infl uence on intention to providebreastmilk exclusively are behavioral beliefs (sig = 0.008, with the Exp (B) = 173,443) and motivation tocomply (sig = 0.006, with the Exp (B) = 32,114), owned by the mother associated with exclusive breast.The conclusions there are two factors that aff ect the mother’s intention to provide breastmilk exclusivelyin Kelurahan Magersari, Sidoarjo there are behavioral beliefs and motivation to comply.Keywords: aff ect, intention, exclusively breastfeeding

Abstract

Malaria is a parasitic disease that is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Public awareness of the dangers of malaria will aff ect the precautions taken. This study aimed to analyze the measures of prevention of malaria in the Sudorogo village Kaligesing District of Purworejo. This study used a case control approach. Sample of this study consisted of 20 cases and 20 controls were taken using simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted from July 2016 to January 2017. The instrument that used in this research was questionnaires and observation sheets. The collected data were analyzed using simple logistic regression. The results of the analysis, indicated that the society actions are habit to stayed outside home in the evening; conducting environmental health habits; habit of not wearing mosquito repellent during the night; habit of not wearing repellent when outdoors activity at night; and the habit of not wearing long sleeves and long pants when out at night did not showany signifi cant correlations with the incidence of malaria in the area of research. Variables that showed a signifi cant correlation with the incidence of malaria in the area of research is the habit of not using mosquito nets while sleeping at night with a p value of 0.012 (95% CI 1.529 to 31.377). The conclusion of this study was there is correlation between habit of not usingmosquito nets while sleeping with the incidence of malaria in the Sudorogo village Kaligesing District of Purworejo.Keywords: preventive action, the incidence of malaria

Abstract

Immunization is an effort to boost the immunity of someone actively against a disease, so when exposed to the disease will not get sick or only experience a mild ache. The main goal of immunization is to lower of pain, disability and death due to diseases that can be prevented by Immunization (PD3I). To achieve these objectives it must achieve coverage of the basic immunization of 91%. The achievement of basic immunization at the Gayam health center does not meet the target. One of the causes is not achieving the target because of the mother foctor in immunizated his son. This study was conducted to describe and analyze the relationship factors of mother in the achievement of basic immunization in region work of Gayam health center Sumenep regency. This study use cross sectional design. The subject were taken from a population by simple random sampling technique. The independent variables in this study were the age of mother, mother's level of education, occupation of mother, mother's level of knowledge, maternal attitudes and beliefs of mother. The results showed that the variables that associated in the achievement of basic immunization are mother's level of education (p = 0,020), mother's knowledge level (p = 0,000), beliefs of mother (p = 0.000) and the maternal attitudes (p = 0.000). While the variable age of mother and occupation of mother not associated in the achievement of basic immunization because the p value > 0.05. Conclusion of this study is factors of associated in the achievement of basic immunization are mother's level of education, mother's knowledge level, beliefs of mother and maternal attitudes. Therefore it is necessary for the addition of knowledge’s mother through the delivery of information, in addition health workers provides an explanation to the mother related to the incidence of post followup immunization so that mothers believe that immunizations have an impact well and the mother was able to behave better towards immunization.Keyword: basic immunization, beliefs of mother, maternal attitudes,     mother's knowledge level, mother's level of education
