Abstract

This research is a quantitative analytical survey research with an explanatory method in which the researcher attempts to explain to what extent the effect of learning mathematics on the results of mid-semester assessments for class VIII students in one of the junior high schools in Tangerang Regency. The sample of this research is students in class VIII. The sample selection was done randomly by taking 31 students from a total of 70 students. In collecting data related to student learning, we distributed a simple questionnaire by google form and to obtain data on the results of the mid-semester assessment of our students, we collaborated with the mathematics teacher in charge of the school. The results of this study stated that the way students learn in learning mathematics, especially in online learning, is said to have an effect of 11.45% on the results of the students' midterm assessment. the way to learn in online learning is divided into four sub categories of learning methods, including: how to take math lessons online, how to learn math independently at home, how to study math textbooks, and how to face math exams. Of these four sub-categories, three of them are in the good category in their implementation, while the sub-category of how to learn in online learning is in the sufficient category which indirectly means that there is still a need for re-evaluation related to the mechanism for implementing mathematics online learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how the activities and roles of parents towards numeracy learning at home are reviewed based on parents with different types of jobs. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. Data was collected using a questionnaire guideline which includes counting activities at home done with the mother, interview guidelines as clarifying material from the questionnaire which contains counting activities done with the mother and the media used. The results showed the role of (1) parents who work as entrepreneurs have played a good and compact role in providing facilities that support counting activities at home, (2) parents who work as self-employed are quite good at providing facilities for counting activities at home, this is because parents are less compact and less involved in the process of children learning to count at home, (3) while parents who work as teachers have played a very good role in providing facilities for counting activities at home, and always provide motivation. This shows that parents' awareness is an important point in teaching counting at home.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students' mathematical connections and student learning outcomes in learning mathematics in grade IV of elementary school. Based on these problems, this study aims to improve mathematical connection skills and student learning outcomes through problem-based learning models in class IV mathematics learning whole numbers. The research subjects were fourth-grade students at SDN Mojorejo 1 Kota Batu. Data collection is done by testing and documentation. This research uses descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis with the type of PTK research (classroom action research) by adapting the Kemmis and Taggart models which consist of four stages of planning namely, action, observation, and reflection carried out in two cycles. The results showed that the minimum mixed value of students in the pre-cycle obtained a result of 10%, then increased by 40% in cycle I, students' mathematical connection ability was 50% then increased by 39% to 89% in cycle II. In addition, the results of the average score, namely in the pre-cycle of students' mathematical connection ability, namely 45% then increased by 24% to 69% in cycle I then increased again by 19% to 80%. This shows that there is an increase in the ability of mathematical connections and student learning outcomes after learning using the problem-based learning (PBL) model.

Abstract

One of the factors that influences a person's level of success in the learning process is self-efficacy. Low self-efficacy and student learning outcomes in the learning process are the background for this research. In order for student self-efficacy and learning outcomes to increase, there needs to be a learning process that makes students learn meaningfully, one of which is the model discovery learning. The purpose of writing the article is to see whether there is an increase in student self-efficacy after implementing the discovery learning model and whether there are differences in learning outcomes between the application of the model discovery learning and student learning outcomes using the scientific approach. The method in this research uses experimental research methods with research instruments in the form of questionnaires given to students before and after the learning process using discovery learning models and learning outcomes tests. Based on the calculations, it was found that there is an increase in students' self-efficacy after applying the model discovery learning, with a value  of 0.43 categorized as a "moderate" improvement. This indicates that the discovery learning model positively contributes to enhancing students' self-confidence. This means that there is an increase in student self-efficacy by implementing the model discovery learning. For student learning outcomes, the calculation results obtained are ????ℎ???????????????????? = 2.38 and ???????????????????????? = 1.67. This means that student learning outcomes by applying the model discovery learning are better than by applying learning using the scientific approach.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategic competencies of prospective teacher students based on cognitive style and gender in formulating, representing and solving problems. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The supporting instruments were the GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) and the task of mathematical non routine problem contained several mathematical concepts, namely circles, trigonometry, and triangles. The research subjects consisted of 2 males Field Independent (FI) and 2 females Field Independent (FI), 6 females Field Dependent (FD) and 4 males Field Dependent (FD). Data was collected through documentation of solving mathematical problem and interview results. The data validity method used method triangulation and referencial adequacy checks. Research datas were analyzed by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results showed that  FI females and males  were more analytical than FD females and males. FI males and FI females both understood problem situations by drawing, but FI males recognized the circle concept more quickly and confidently than FI females. FI females were more analytical in the process of transferring problem situations into pictures than FI males. FI males and FI females both represented problem situations in pictures and symbols but FI females tended to have more logical pictures and symbols than FI males. FD females tended to understand problem situations by drawing more than FD males, therefore FD females were said to be more analytical in transferring problem situations into pictures compared to FD males. The four types of subjects did not arrive at a correct final solution.
