Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research are to know: (1) which one was better result in learning achievement of mathematics among PBL, NHT, and TPS, (2) which one was better learning achievement among students in high, middle, and low creativity categories of  mathematics, (3) in each learning model, which one was better learning achievement among students’ creativity categories, students having high, middle, or low; and (4) in each creativity categories, which one was better learning achivement among students of PBL, NHT, or TPS. This research used quasi-experimental research. The population was all of the students in Grade VII of State Junior High School in Kebumen. The samples of research were taken by using stratified cluster random sampling technique and consisted of 268 students. They divided into three groups. They were 92 students in the group of first experiment, 88 students in the group of second experiment, and 88 students in the group of third experiment. The instruments to collect the data were test of learning achievement and the questionnaire of learning creativity in mathematics. The data were examined by using two-way ANOVA with unbalanced cells. The results of the research were as follows. (1) Student in the model of PBL model result in a better learning achievement than NHT and TPS learning models. Student in NHT learning model results in a better learning achievement than TPS learning model. (2) Learning creativity gives students a different effect on mathematics’ learning achievement in the subject of set. The students with the high creativity have a better learning achievement than those with the middle and low categories, and student with the middle creativity have a better learning achievement than those with the low creativity categoriy. (3) In each learning model, students with the high creativity category have learning achievement as good as those with the middle or low categories. (4) In each of the creativity categories of students, students with the high creativity category of PBL have learning achievement as good as those in NHT and TPS, students with the middle creativity category of PBL have better learning achievement than those in TPS, then learning models of NHT and TPS have same learning achievement, and students in PBL and NHT have same learning achievement; last, in the low learning category, student in PBL have better learning achievement than those in TPS, student in NHT and TPS have same learning achievement and the student in PBL and NHT have same learning achievement. Keywords:    Problem Based Learning, Numbered Head Together, Think Pair Share, and learning creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether applying the Make A Math cooperative learning model can increase student learning activeness in mathematics. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles, each of which included planning, action, observation and reflection. The sample in this study were all class VIIA students of SMP Negeri 7 Kebumen in the academic year 2018/2019, totaling 24 students. The instruments used in this study were observation, documentation and questionnaires.Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the application of the Make a math type of cooperative learning model can increase student learning activeness in mathematics class VII SMP Negeri 7 Kebumen. The increase in student learning activeness can be seen in the questionnaire. Based on the questionnaire of student learning activeness using the Make A Type cooperative learning model, there was an increase from pre-cycle by 56.71% in the low category, increasing in the first cycle to 67.03% in the moderate category and increasing again in the second cycle, namely by 81.04%

Abstract

Education and culture cannot be separated in daily life. Ethnomathematics exists to bridge the gap between culture and education, especially in mathematics. Humans are unaware of activities that use basic mathematical concepts and ideas like counting, measuring (length, area, volume, and weight), number construction, games, and buying-selling activities. This study examines and analyzes the Minangkabau traditional games in the scope of geometry. This research is exploratory research with an ethnographic approach. The subjects of this study were 6 players of the Sipak Rago game. The data was collected through observation, documentation, and interview to find mathematical concepts in the Sipak Rago game. Based on the research, there are mathematical concepts in the Sipak Rago game like the concept of circle elements, circle circumference formula, circle area formula, and angle on a circle.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the problem of cheating in reducing similarity using Turnitin software in writing scientific articles, as well as the factors causing cheating problems carried out by students. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and interviews with students taking the scientific paper course. The sample consists of students taking the scientific paper course with focus on research mathematics in Open University, Study Program X, using purposive sampling technique. The research findings indicate, there are cheating techniques used to reduce similarity that are undetectable by Turnitin: (1) adjusting spaces in a text that is too large or too small, (2) converting text files into images, (3) adding specific letters to the manuscript, (4) inserting specific small-sized numbers that are almost invisible, (5) intentionally making typing errors, and (6) adding specific symbols to the scientific article manuscript.
