Abstract

Abstract. The results of research and development based on natural ingredients for traditional medicines become an interesting topic to discuss at this point; it’s shown from increasing number in utilization. The use of traditional medicine especially on natural ingredients at this moment becomes effective solution to increase the level of market acceptance in herbal extracts, including an affordable purchase from potential utilization of natural resources which are owned. By using Matheo Patent XE Ver 10.2 as methodology of searching, we can know potentials useful through strategy, research and development, patent analysis and patent collaboration among users in utilization of Natural Ingredient for Traditional Medicine. From the data result shows majority in the field of chemistry for human necessity related to Health; Amusement; Medical or Veterinary Science; Hygiene sectors with total patent 108, family 65. The use of patent analysis is a way to find how the development of technology and products that have been produced and how commercial processes connecting with technology users, especially in traditional medicine. From the data that exist in particular of patents, it is critical to identify the number of patents that has been registered through the innovation process development including technology dissemination is used. Abstract

Abstract. This research was aimed to analyze the excess inventories issue in pharmacy and medical equipment unit at a local hospital in Bandung which affected the service level of the hospital. As one of the busy hospital in Java, proven by the higher amount of the patient/year than in other average Java typical hospital, the hospital needs to concern about the pharmaceutical and medical equipment inventories in order to fulfill patients’ needs and in the same time keeping the inventory level under control. Therefore, an inventory control evaluation was conducted to determine the appropriate number of inventories and time of order to avoid the excessive goods in central warehouse of the hospital. By using probabilistic inventory model and continuous review policy, the pharmaceutical inventory in the hospital was calculated to compare the ideal and actual amount of the average inventory level (AIL). ABC (Always, Better, Control) classification also classified in this research to identify the proper item which potentially can be reduced from the inventory. From the analysis, we have discovered that the hospital potentially able to reduce almost Rp 830 million or 57% from the overstock inventory level by using continuous review policy as the basis of inventory control calculation system. Keywords:  Continuous review policy, inventory control, EOQ, ROP, AIL

Abstract

Abstract. The necessity to face technology challenges in industrialization in Indonesia causes the current condition to be not preferable. Conditions in higher education which relates closely to the research and development in Indonesia trigger questions of what future holds in Indonesia’s technology development in the future. This paper looks back at the previous literatures on international movements of scientists and engineers abroad and proposes to apply a causal loop diagram model. This paper also analyzes the relationships based on Indonesia’s context and set a parameter for each variable. The relationships were checked through interview with representation from Indonesian research institutions and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The result of this paper confirms that the diagram is able to symbolize the circumstances in Indonesia’s context. Second important finding is that based on simulation and policy scenarios implemented, the policy to increase the number of scholarships by the government is predicted as the most effective to all important parameters for future development in Indonesia in relation to education and technology development, which will eventually lead to economic development. Keywords:  Engineers, international students, policy scenarios, scientists, system dynamics
