Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers and students for case study-based chemistry learning media that can support the chemistry learning process for grades X and XI in Senior High Schools (SMTA). The methods used are literature studies (curriculum analysis, analysis of chemical concepts on colloidal topics, and journal analysis) and field studies (analysis of multimedia needs for chemistry teachers and students in class X and XI SMA in the form of a questionnaire using google form to seven high school schools in the district). Coal). Based on the results of the analysis of the first literature study, it was found that the basic competencies regarding colloid systems are KD 3.15 and KD 4.15, then the chemical concepts in colloidal materials are classified as abstract about 17%, abstract concepts with concrete examples show 33%. While the concrete concept of 50%. The results of the journal analysis stated that the development of interactive multimedia based on case studies is important because it can explain abstract concepts to be more concrete. The next stage of the field study showed that 100% of teachers and 91.4% of students stated that it was important to integrate case study-based interactive multimedia content in the learning process. The results of this study provide a clear picture of the need for the development of case study-based interactive multimedia. Keywords: needs analysis, interactive multimedia, case study.

Abstract

Glucomannan extracted from porang tubers (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) can be used as a raw material for made edible films. In this research, extraction of glucomannan with graded ethanol method resulted in a yield of 10% and the composition of the edible film forming solution used was 6% glucomannan porang tubers and 25% (w/w) glycerol. The resulted edible film was clear and transparent with the characteristics tested are water content, thickness and water vapor transmission respectvely 20.16%, 0.15 m2 and 22.89 g/m2/hour. Based on the results of SEM analysis showed that the surface of the edible film of glucomannan porang tubers, the morphology of the surface was somewhat smooth but still less homogeneous. So, efforts are still needed to improve the characteristics so that to acording the required standards Keywords: Preparation, edible film, glucomannan, porang tubers

Abstract

Antiinflammatory activity tests of extract and fractions of kenitu Leaves (Chrysopyllum cainito L) in vitro were carried out. This research aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of crude extract methanol of kenitu leave with protein denaturation inhibition method by using BSA (Bovine serum albumin). Diclofenac sodium was used as positive control and the negative control used the appropriate solvent. Based on phytochemical screening test, methanol extracts are known to contain secondary metabolites including flavonoids, alkaloids and phenolics. The results of the anti-inflammatory activity test of methanol extract have moderate anti-inflammatory potential with an IC50 value of 196,29 ppm. Keywords: Chrysopyllum cainito L, Secondary metabolites, Anti-inflammatory, 50% inhibition concentration.

Abstract

The adsorption of cadmium ions (Cd2+) using adsorbent from tea waste by column method has been carried out. The purpose of this study is to utilize tea waste as an adsorbent to adsorb cadmium ions. The preparation tea waste was washed with hot water until the filtrate is colorless, then the dried tea waste was crushed and sieved using a 60 mesh sieve. In this study, the adsorption process used the batch method and column method. Determination of metal ions concentration of cadmium complexed with dithizone and measured with UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 518 nm. The optimum conditions of cadmium metal adsorption using adsorbent from tea waste by batch method at 10-minute contact time, pH 10, and the maximum adsorption capacity of 157.1282 mg/g. The adsorption process with optimum column method at 4.10 mL/minute flow rate and the maximum adsorption capacity of 68.8817 mg/g. The cadmium metal ions adsorption process follows the Langmuir isotherm type. Keywords: Adsorption, Tea Waste, Cadmium, Column Method.

Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a fruit-shaped vegetable that has the characteristics of being easily damaged. Tomato plants before, during and after harvest can be damaged quickly if the handling is not done properly, resulting in a decrease in quality. It is necessary to improve the quality and storage time of tomatoes, by using one type of coating, namely edible coating which has a function to improve the quality and storage time of tomatoes. Edible coating is a type of thin layer that is environmentally friendly and safe for consumption, which functions to maintain the quality of tomatoes from decay for a certain time. The study was conducted on edible coating research based on chitosan, pectin, starch, and carrageenan. The purpose of this article review is to compare the results of edible coatings from chitosan, pectin, starch, and carrageenan on the quality and storage time of tomatoes. The method used is the literature review method. The results showed that edible coating from cassava starch where tomatoes coated with edible coating with starch made from cassava was able to maintain the quality of tomatoes when stored until the 15th day. Chitosan showed chitosan coating with a concentration of 50 ppm was the best level for storage of tomatoes for 7 days of observation. Grapefruit peel pectin showed the best treatment was found in 3% pectin which was effective for 14 days with a weight of 0.063%. Carrageenan shows that 1.5% carrageenan edible coating stored at room temperature can extend the shelf life of tomatoes from 6 days to 10 days. Keywords: edible coating, carrageenan, chitosan, starch, pectin, tomato

Abstract

Cultivation of black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) is mushrooming in Indonesia recently because of its benefits, including the BSF larvae is rich in protein and helps reduce waste pollution. One of the byproducts of this cultivation is the pupal exuviae which is still not utilized properly. Pupal exuviae of black soldier fly contain chitin and can be processed into chitosan. The purpose of this article is to review the results of research on the synthesis of chitosan based on pupal exuviae of black soldier fly from various articles. The method used in this research is the literature review method. The results of the literature review showed that pupal exuviae of black soldier fly content of around 12-30% due to the extraction method used. The structure of chitin and chitosan were characterized by FTIR, XRD, and SEM. The characterization results showed that the physical characteristics of BSF chitin were α-chitin. The crystal index values of chitin is 52.8%, while chitosan is 55.4%. The surface morphology of chitin and chitosan is nanofiber structures. Based on the overall reviews, it can be concluded that pupal exuviae BSF can be an alternative source of chitin and processed into chitosan which is useful for various technological purposes. Keywords: Hermetia illucens, chitin, chitosan, pupal exuviae BSF
