Abstract

Excellent school is the one which has some excellences in term of facilities, infrastructure, and management. Good management plays important role in especially in deciding the program for developing the school. To boost the development of the school, good cooperation from all parties in the school is highly needed. Through good management, there will be revolutionary movement in education so that education in Indonesia will yield high quality.

Abstract

Historically, the existence of Islamic boarding school has changed. There are differences among Islamic boarding schools where all the boarding schools attempt to show their excellence and development from time to time. One of the developments is religious relationship in which the Islamic boarding school becomes more inclusive to the surrounding. In this case, morality and tolerance values are cultivated among the members of the boarding school so that a harmonious life can be achieved. In addition, redefining the concept of rahmatan li al ‘alamin ( bless for the universe) and ukhuwah (brotherhood) is of importance to strengthen tolerance.

Abstract

The integration of education and Islamic values in teaching and learning must be conducted by not making dichotomy of knowledge. The integration of Islamic values is conducted in term: first, the wholeness of  integration in which Islamic value is integrated in all subject matters. Second, the variety of model, method, and approach in integrating Islamic values which is applied by the teachers in the teaching and learning process. Third, the integration of Islamic values at school and at students’ home in which there is a coordination between school and parents to implement the teaching of Islamic values.

Abstract

Islamic education is mostly dominated by the inherited construction of classical-scholastic epistemology where there is less appreciation of the dynamics and development of life which are increasingly complex and diverse. Many religious groups have the ideology leading to the truth which is excessive, unilateral, and exclusive. This is the reason why it is important to develop a paradigm of inclusive-multicultural education, the process of developing the full potential of human beings who appreciate plurality and heterogeneity as a consequence of the diversity of cultural, ethnic, tribal and flow (religion). At this point, Gestalt theory can be used as a surgical glasses in viewing the problem. According to Gestalt theory, diversity is a part / piece of totality that must be construed as a whole, not simply interpreted in bits and pieces. Overall, it would be more meaningful than just a piece or pieces that are not obscure. Therefore, understanding pluralistic inclusive life will give understanding of exclusion in Islamic education.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school contribute significantly to the establishment of national education specifically in the following matters, namely, (1) internalization of norm, (2) wisdom, (3) good behavior/akhlaq al karimah, (4) good morality. In other words, Islamic boarding school affects the way of life in Indonesia. In the context of improving the quality and access toward education, the role of Islamic boarding school must be elevated so that it can develop well as to respond the global era. This is so doing for a purpose of improving the quality of human resource in Indonesia.

Abstract

Nowadays, Islamic thought is trapped on the stagnancy of ideas. Such condition happens because the function of Islam changes, from an instrument for freedom to a rigid system of ideology. The similar pattern of change identified by Feyerabend also exists in the modern science. The similarity of the pattern inspired the writer to elaborate the concept of anarchy epistemology of Paul Feyerabend and its implication to the Islamic thought. This article uses philosophical hermeneutic  approach by Gadamer in investigating meaningful sense of Feyerabend thought. The conclusion of the study ends up with the importance of returning Islamic thought to the pluralistic environment  because Islam itself was not burn in a single thought but at least there are three epistemic patrons; Bayani, Burhani, and ‘Irfani.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education is closely related to improving human resource. Meanwhile, the quality of human resources at school is a partly relied to the quality of the principal. A principal is responsible to the success or failure of education. The problem lies upon the difficulty to find a credible principal who can manage the institution quite well. The jobs of a principal are (1) encourage the teachers to have continuous professional development, (2) become role model for everybody at school, (3) make innovation for the institution.

Abstract

The phenomenon of punishment that implanted in pesantren is one of the educational method that often used by educators to overcome the students who behave less well with the reason to improve the behavior of learners. Even such punishment leads to the violence. The importance of discussion its punishment in pesantren is because it is considered less relevant to education today. This study aims to explain the reasons why the teachers in boarding schools apply penalties for violators of the boarding school and is there any impact from it. The researcher conducted an indepth interview of punishment phenomenon in pesantren to find the data as much as possible for complete result. So the result of this research is the punishment given to students must appropriate to the procedure. So students can feel positive impact caused by the punishment.

Abstract

Reaveling the marginalize of Islamic education, the developing proces of Islam education organization must be upheld. In this case the science of management is needed. Managing educational institutions of Islam means the process of institutional restructuring of Islamic education involving the human resources and non-human to raise a purpose of islam education efectively and efisienly. Talking about human resource management, the leadership becomes important factor to be used as a reference in institutional development. Transformative leadership can be an alternative method to lead an Islam education institution. Therefore, here where the function of the dimensions of the role of the concept is expected to provide a major influence in the leadership in Islamic Education Institution.

Abstract

Leadership behavior of principal, teacher welfare, and teacher work motivation are important to be implemented because it can affect teacher performance at MAN in Blitar Regency. This study examines the behavior of principal leadership, teacher welfare, and teacher work motivation on teacher performance at MAN in Blitar Regency. Population of this study is 170 teachers and taken as many as 114 teachers as sample through proportional random sampling method with table Isaac and Michael with 5% error rate. The results showed that partially the leadership behavior of principals have a significant positive effect on teacher performance at MAN in Blitar Regency. Variables of teacher welfare have a significant positive effect on teacher performance at MAN in Blitar Regency. Other results showed the teacher work motivation has a significant positive effect on teacher performance at MAN in Blitar Regency.
