MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN is a new version of the old journal with a similar name that was published from 1995 to 2005. This journal is dedicated not only to Indonesian scholars who are concerned with educational studies but also to scholars from Southeast Asian countries and around the world who care and want to share thoughts and ideas related to educational studies in general. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN journal is organized by the Lecturers of UPI Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Journal Developer Team and is published by UPI Press in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN can be in English, Indonesian or Malay language. Abstract

 ABSTRAKSI: Tulisan ini membahas simbol dan identitas Kabupaten Ciamis di Jawa Barat, Indonesia, terutama berkenaan dengan situs “Astana Gede” (Makam Besar). Situs itu sangat penting untuk dipelihara agar jatidiri masyarakat Jawa Barat tidak tergerus oleh arus globalisasi yang semakin kuat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah yang terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu: heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa situs “Astana Gede”, yang pernah menjadi pusat kekuasaan Kerajaan Galuh pada masa Prabu Wastu Kancana (1371-1475), merupakan simbol dan identitas bagi masyarakat Ciamis. Pada masa sekarang, hal yang sangat dikhawatirkan adalah masyarakat Kabupaten Ciamis kurang paham mengenai arti penting eksistensi situs “Astana Gede”. Ada tiga faktor yang harus difahami masyarakat, yaitu faktor bangunan, ruang, dan rasa memiliki. Ketiga faktor itu harus dipelihara dan diimplementasikan oleh generasi penerus agar dapat memiliki pengetahuan tentang situs “Astana Gede” dan para pendahulunya. Hal itu juga, pada akhirnya, agar generasi muda dapat membangun dirinya dalam berbagai aspek di masa sekarang dan di masa yang akan datang. KATA KUNCI: Simbol; Identitas; Situs Astana Gede; Kerajaan Galuh; Masyarakat Ciamis dan Jawa Barat.ABSTRACT: “The Significance of Astana Gede Site in Ciamis Regency for West Java People”. This article discusses the symbols and identity of Ciamis Regency in West Java, Indonesia, especially with regard to the site of “Astana Gede” (Large Tomb). The site is very important to be maintained so that the identity of West Java people could not be eroded by globalization which is getting stronger. The research method used in this study is the historical method that consist of four steps, namely: heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The findings show that  “Astana Gede” site, as once a center of  Galuh Kingdom power in the time of King Wastu Kancana (1371-1475), is a symbol and identity of Ciamis people. Nowadays, it is very concerned that the people of Ciamis Regency has short on knowledge significance of “Astana Gede” site existence. There three factors that must be understood by the people, namely buildings factor, space, and  sense of belonging. These three factors must be maintained and implemented by the next generation so that may have knowledge of the “Astana Gede” site and their predecessors. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan permasalahan bagaimana partisipasi masyarakat dapat ditingkatkan melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah untuk mendukung keberhasilan Program KOTAKU (Kota Tanpa Kumuh) di Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Tujuannya adalah untuk mendeskripsikan secara sistematis, faktual, dan akurat mengenai fakta-fakta dan sifat-sifat model pembelajaran masyarakat  berbasis masalah dalam impelemenatasi program KOTAKU, sehingga dapat memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemandirian  masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan dan metode deskriptif-kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik studi dokumentasi, wawancara, dan observasi. Data kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan konsep pembangunan masyarakat, pembelajaran, dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa telah terjadi perubahan perilaku positif; perkembangan kemampuan dalam  memecahkan masalah; memaknai informasi; serta berpikir reflektif dan evaluatif pada masyarakat. Penelitian ini, akhirnya, menyimpulkan bahwa secara statistik, partisipasi masyarakat dalam dimensi kontribusi mencapai 30% dalam pelaksanaannya. KATA KUNCI: Kota Tanpa Kumuh; Partisipasi Masyarakat; Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah. ABSTRACT: “Problem-Based Community Learning as a Strategy to Increase Community Participation in KOTAKU Program”. This research was organized  based on the phenomena of how community participation can be improved through problem-based learning to support successful outcomes of  KOTAKU (Kota Tanpa Kumuh or City Without Slums) Program in the Regency of Bandung Barat, West Java, Indonesia. This research was aimed to describe the facts and characteristics of problem-based community learning models in a systematic, factual, and accurate way to implement KOTAKU Program, so that it will give a positive impact on increasing community independence. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach and method. The data were collected by employing document analysis techniques, interviews, and observations. The data were, then, analyzed based on the concept of community development, learning, and community empowerment. The results of the study reveal that there are changing in positive behavior; the development of the ability to solve problems; interpret information; and reflective and evaluative thinking of the community. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Penelitian ini membahas tentang hubungan antara membaca buletin “Lensa Berita Bank Sinarmas” dengan peningkatan kinerja karyawan. Perkembangan media saat ini semakin beragam, salah satunya adalah media internal sebagai media komunikasi dan informasi bagi seluruh karyawannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya hubungan antara variabel X (membaca buletin “Lensa Berita Bank Sinarmas”) dengan variabel Y (peningkatan kinerja karyawan), khususnya karyawan Bank Sinarmas Kantor Cabang Tasikmalaya, serta mengetahui sifat hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut. Penggalian data penelitian ini dilakukan secara kuantitatif dengan studi korelasional dan survey kuesioner. Setelah melakukan penelitian didapati bahwa hasil Ha dapat diterima dan Ho ditolak, sehingga dapat disimpulkan terdapat hubungan antara membaca buletin “Lensa Berita Bank Sinarmas” terhadap peningkatan kinerja karyawan.KATA KUNCI: Media Komunikasi Internal; Membaca Buletin; Peningkatan Kinerja Karyawan; Pembelajaran Sosial; Efek Media. ABSTRACT: “Correlation of the Corporate Internal Media towards the Improvement of Employee Performance of Sinarmas Bank in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia”. This research discusses the relationship between reading the bulletin of “Lensa Berita Bank Sinarmas” with the employee’s performance improvement. The condition of mass media variant growth nowadays, one of which is internal media as the company’s media of communication and employee’s source information. This research aims to determine whether there is relationship between reading the bulletin of “Lensa Berita Bank Sinarmas” (variable X) with the employee’s of Sinarmas Bank of Tasikmalaya Branch Office (variable Y), and to know the relationship between both variables. The method used is a correlational quantitative research method with questionnaires survey. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study, thus, investigated the factors responsible for students’ unrest in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. Further investigation was also done based on moderating variables of age, gender, and religion if they would have any bearing on the participants’ views. The study was descriptive in nature. The sample consisted of one thousand and two hundred undergraduates, who were selected in six Universities in Nigeria using purposive, simple random, and systematic random techniques. A new questionnaire labelled FRSUQ (Factors Responsible for Students’ Unrest Questionnaire) was developed and used to collect data. The results showed that the factors responsible for students’ unrest in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions are unfavorable Government policies; poor staff-students’ relationship; poor teaching-learning facilities; high tuition fees; and non-responsiveness of University authorities among others. Results also showed that there were no significant differences in the factors responsible for students’ unrest in Nigerian Universities based on age, gender, and religion. Penelitian ini, dengan demikian, menyelidiki faktor-faktor yang bertanggung jawab atas keresahan mahasiswa di Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Nigeria. Penyelidikan lebih lanjut juga dilakukan berdasarkan variabel moderasi usia, jenis kelamin, dan agama jika mereka memiliki pandangan yang berbeda terhadap peserta. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif. Sampel terdiri dari seribu dua ratus mahasiswa, yang dipilih di enam Universitas di Nigeria menggunakan teknik sampel acak bertujuan, sederhana, dan sistematis. Kuesioner baru berlabel FRSUQ (Kuesioner Faktor-faktor yang Bertanggung Jawab atas Keresahan Mahasiswa) dikembangkan dan digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang bertanggung jawab atas keresahan mahasiswa di Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Nigeria adalah kebijakan Pemerintah yang tidak menguntungkan; hubungan staf-mahasiswa yang lemah; fasilitas belajar-mengajar yang buruk; biaya kuliah yang tinggi; serta tidak responsifnya pihak otoritas Universitas antara lain. Hasil kajian juga menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan dalam faktor-faktor yang bertanggung jawab atas keresahan mahasiswa di Universitas Nigeria berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin, dan agama. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to figure out the effects of WhatsApp mobile learning in teaching reading to students in the 2nd semester of Informatics Technique Program at the STMIK (College of Computer Science Management) Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Experimental study is the research design applied to figure out more the effect of WhatsApp usage by the learners in reading lesson. The classes are grouped into experimental and control groups. Students in experimental group have additional learning activities, besides the normal class in the classroom, that is additional learning using WhatsApp mobile learning; but students in control group just have the normal class as usual in the classroom. Questionaires, WhatsApp platforms, and Pre-post tests become the sources of data collection used. The results indicated  that WhatsApp mobile learning usage in learning reading skill to the 2nd semester students of Informatics Technique Program at the STMIK Pontianak shows an insignificant results of this study. So, it is needed to support from other institutions for the ease and decent WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) access for using WhatsApp in mobile phone assisted learning.KEY WORD: Mobile Phone Assisted Learning; Reading Lesson; Using WhatsApp. ABSTRAKSI: “Penggunaan WhatsApp dalam Pelajaran Membaca di STMIK Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi “WhatsApp” pada telefon genggam didalam pembelajaran membaca pada mahasiswa Program Teknik Informatika semester 2 di STMIK (Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Ilmu Komputer) Pontianak. Studi eksperimen adalah desain penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengetahui lebih jauh pengaruh penggunaan “WhatsApp” oleh para mahasiswa dalam pelajaran membaca. Kelas dikelompokkan menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Para mahasiswa di kelas eksperimen mempunyai aktivitas belajar tambahan, selain belajar rutin di kelas, yaitu tambahan belajar menggunakan aplikasi “WhatsApp” pada telefon genggam; tetapi para mahasiswa di kelas kontrol hanya belajar seperti pada umumnya didalam kelas. Kuestioner, program “WhatsApp”, dan pra-pasca tes menjadi sumber pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan “WhatsApp” pada telefon genggam dalam pembelajaran keterampilan membaca pada mahasiswa semester 2 Program Teknik Informatika di STMIK Pontianak menunjukkan hasil yang tidak memuaskan. Jadi, diperlukan dukungan dari lembaga lain untuk kemudahan dan akses WiFi (Jaringan Internet) untuk menggunakan “WhatsApp” dalam pembelajaran berbantukan telefon genggam. MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN: Jurnal Indonesia untuk Kajian Pendidikan (Indonesian Journal for Educational Studies) This journal, with ISSN 2527-3868 (print) and 2503-457X (online), was firstly published on March 11, 2016, by UPI (Indonesia University of Education) Press in Bandung and orgnized by the Lecturers of UPI Journal Developer Team. The MIMBAR PENDIDIKAN  is a new version journal from the old journal with the similar name that was published since 1995 to 2005. This journal is dedicated not only for Indonesian scholars who concern about educational studies, but also welcome to the scholars of Southeast Asian countries and around the world who care and share related to the educational studies in general. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Artikel ini – dengan menggunakan pendekatan dan metode kualitatif serta kajian pustaka – mau menganalisis dua hal pokok, yaitu: Pengembangan Kurikulum; dan Pembelajaran Abad XXI. Pengembangan kurikulum merupakan bagian yang sangat esensial dalam keseluruhan kegiatan pendidikan. Pengembangan kurikulum, baik pada tingkat makro maupun mikro, mencakup kegiatan menyeluruh yang meliputi: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi; serta menyangkut pengembangan komponen penting dalam kurikulum, yaitu komponen tujuan, bahan, kegiatan, dan evaluasi. Pengembangan kurikuum secara makro menyangkut pengembangan program pendidikan secara umum dan menyeluruh dalam konteks suatu lembaga/institusi; sedangkan secara mikro menyangkut pengembangan kurikulum yang sifatnya lebih terbatas, seperti pengembangan kurikulum pada level bidang studi atau mata kuliah. Kerangka pembelajaran abad XXI adalah satu gagasan yang diadaptasi dalam pengembangan Kurikulum 2013 pada umumnya, dan pembelajaran saintifik pada khususnya. Ada sejumlah keterampilan yang perlu dikuasai oleh peserta didik pada abad XXI, yakni: “soft skill and hard skill” atau keterampilan teknis. “Soft skill” yang perlu dikembangkan adalah kreativitas dan inovasi, berpikir kritis, seperti literasi informasi, literasi media, dan literasi ICT (Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi). KATA KUNCI: Pengembangan Kurikulum; Pembelajaran Abad XXI; Kurikulum 2013; Keterampilan Teknis. ABSTRACT: “Curriculum Development in the 21st Century Learning”. This article – using qualitative approaches and methods as well as literature review – wants to analyze two main points, namely: Curriculum Development; and the 21st Century Learning. Curriculum development is a very essential part of all educational activities. Curriculum development, at both the macro and micro levels, has been encompassing comprehensive activities including: planning, implementation, and evaluation; and involves also the development of important components in the curriculum that are components of objectives, materials, activities, and evaluations. Macro curriculum development involves the development of a general and comprehensive education program in the context of an institution; whereas in micro terms, it involves the development of curricula that are more limited in nature such as curriculum development at the level of field of study or course. The 21st century learning framework is an idea that was adapted in 2013 Curriculum development in general, and scientific learning in particular. There are a number of skills that need to be mastered by 21st century students, namely: soft skills and hard skills or technical skills. Soft skills that need to be developed are creativity and innovation, critical thinking, such as information literacy, media literacy, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) literacy.KEY WORD: Development Curriculum; 21st Century Learning; 2013 Curriculum; Technical Skills. Abstract

ABSTRAKSI: Pendidikan jasmani adalah proses pengembangan dan peningkatan kemampuan organik, neuro-muskuler, interperatif, sosial, dan emosional melalui kegiatan fisik. Umumnya, kajian pendidikan sebatas mengungkapkan tentang efektivitas proses belajar-mengajar, tetapi efisiensi proses belajar-mengajar belum banyak dikaji, khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan jasmani. Penelitian ini berupaya untuk meneliti efisiensi pengajaran pendidikan jasmani melalui analisis terhadap kinerja guru pendidikan jasmani dalam kegiatan belajar-mengajar, yang meliputi analisis terhadap media yang digunakan, metode, serta model belajar yang diterapkan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode analisis dokumen. Data diperoleh dari dokumen laporan penelitian empat tahun terakhir; sedangkan populasinya adalah siswa SD (Sekolah Dasar), SLTP (Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Pertama), dan SLTA (Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Atas) di Provinsi Jawa Barat. Berdasarkan analisis kinerja pendidik, umumnya pendidik pada jenjang pendidikan SD, SLTP, dan SLTA telah mampu menerapkan prinsip efisiensi kinerja dan meningkatkan kualitas kinerjanya yang tercermin dari nilai uji signifikansi pada setiap jenjang pendidikan.KATA KUNCI: Analisis Efisiensi; Pendidikan Jasmani; Kinerja Pendidik; Siswa Sekolah Dasar dan Menengah. ABSTRACT: “Efficiency Analysis of Teacher Performance towards the Physical Education Learning Outcomes in School Students”. Physical education is the process of developing and increasing organic, neuro-muscular, interperative, social, and emotional abilities through physical activity. Generally, studies of education are limited to revealing the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, but the efficiency of the teaching and learning process has not been widely studied, especially in the field of physical education. This study attemps to investigate the efficiency of physical education teaching and learning through analyses on physical education teachers’ performances in delivering classroom instructions, which involves analyses on the developed media and the applied learning methods and models. The research was conducted using the method of document analysis. Data are obtained from the research report document in the last four years; while the population was students of Elementary School, Junior High School, and Senior High School in the West Java Province.
