Abstract

Background: the infusion procedure is an invasive procedure that is often performed when treating children in the hospital, this action is done by inserting a needle into the child's vein which can cause pain. Cold compress using ice gel is one way to stimulate the skin so that it is therapeutic before infusion procedure.Purpose: to find out whether there is an effect of cold compresses using ice gel on the pain intensity during infusion procedure of school age children. Methods: this type of research is a quasi experiment two group posttest only design method. The population in this study were 32 children aged 6-12 years and the reaseach was taken at RSUD KRMT Wongsonegoro Semarang. The instruments were used ice gel compress, and were measured using pain intensity (OUCHER). The hypothesis test used the Wilcoxon test and Man-Whitney test. Results: data from 32 respondents obtained the results of the pain scale using the cold compress application. Ice gel against pain intensity of school-age children during infusion with p-value - 0,000 0.05. Thus, if p- 0.000 0.05 then Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected, which means that there is a significant difference in the pain scale between giving compresses (ice gel) to school-age children who are subjected to infusion. Conclusion: the application of cold compresses using ice gel can reduce the pain intensity of school-age children during the infusion procedure. That is recomended as the intervension during infusion procedure.

Abstract

Background: understanding the factors affecting academic performance is important to support and promote the academic success of students. While there have been several studies on nursing students’ academic performance, the role of self-directed learning readiness, self-esteem, and grit among Filipino nursing students have not been well documented.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship of self-directed learning readiness, self-esteem, and grit to the perceived academic performance of nursing students. Methods: This correlational research was conducted among undergraduate sophomore nursing students in a higher education institution in the Philippines using adopted research instruments. Spearman’s rho tested the correlation between variables. Results: The results indicated that self-directed learning readiness (rs=.360, p=.000), self-esteem (rs=.301, p=.000), and grit (rs=.186, p=.023) were significantly related to the academic performance of sophomore nursing students. Conclusion: psychological resources such as self-directed learning readiness, self-esteem, and grit contribute to students’ academic performance. Strategies that encourage self-directed learning, increase self-esteem, and cultivate grit are needed to support student's academic success in nursing school.

Abstract

Background: the number of hemorhagic and non-hemorhagic stroke increase significantly year by year and the number of rehabilitation stage stroke patient that has the problem of family support is still high.Purpose: this study aims to determine the corellation between the level of family support and the level of self-esteem in stroke patients in the rehabilitation stage. Methods: the type of research design that researcher used is a correlation test design. The approaching methods that used by the researcher is a cross-sectional study. The researcher uses purposive sampling based on the criteria that researcher made. To  obtain the data researcher uses 2 questionaire, that is Family Support Questionaire and RSES (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale)Results: the result of this research is the value of Sig. (2-tailed) Spearman's rank test of family support with the level of self-esteem of stroke patients in the rehabilitation stage is 0.000 or p 0.05. Next is the value of Sig. (2-tailed) Spearman rank test of emotional support and appreciation with the self-esteem level of stroke patients in the rehabilitation stage is 0.000 or p 0.05, instrumental support with self-esteem is 0.000 or p 0.05, and informational support with self-esteem level. esteem is 0.01 or p 0.05.Conclusion: there is a corellation between family support both in general and in the aspects such as emotional, appreciation, instrumental, and informational aspects with the level of self-esteem in stroke patients in the rehabilitation stage.

Abstract

Background: a higher rate of recommended chest compression is needed for neo automatic code (NAC)-guided cardiopulmonary resuscitations (CPR) to obtain high-quality chest compressions. High-quality chest compressions could improve ROSC. Purpose: the study aim to analyze the effects of CPR using NAC on the ROSC in-hospital cardiac arrest in Indonesia. Methods: this study used a quantitative, post-test quasi-experimental design with a control group. The samples were 74 cardiac arrest patients in two hospitals in Surakarta and Klaten, Indonesia, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney test. Results: the incidence of ROSC in the control group was 30%, and in the treatment group was 35%. The result of statistical analysis showed that there were differences in the ROSC in the intervention and control group with a p-value of 0.003. Conclusion: NAC assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitations increased ROSC. It is recommended that Code Blue Teams should use NAC to improve the quality of chest compressions for the better result of ROSC.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a kidney function disorder that occurs gradually, cannot be recovered, and describes a decrease in urine production which results in an accumulation of fluid in the body. This can disrupt their fluid and electrolyte balance. In this regard, in Indonesia there are still many phenomena of non-compliance with fluid monitoring that occur. If this is left unchecked, it will result in a condition of overload or excess fluid in the patient. Fluid management is needed to fulfill the patient's fluid and electrolyte needs, so that changes in body weight and the results of the calculation of fluid balance can be controlled and become an illustration of meeting these needs.Purpose: to explain nursing care to meet fluid and electrolyte needs in chronic kidney disease patients. Methods: nursing care was carried out on patients with a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease who have impaired fluid and electrolyte requirements. The nursing intervention used to overcome this problem was fluid management. Data were collected from interviews and observations and further analysis was carried out. Results: After three days nursing intervention, the results showed that the client's level of shortness of breath decreased, the blood pressure level was close to normal, fluid calculation close to balance, and the client's weight seemed stable. Conclusion: fluid management was effective for monitoring fluid intake and output of chronic kidney disease patient.
