Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of X-rays is an integral part of clinical dentistry because it can help doctors when diagnosing a clinical symptom experienced by a patient through radiological images (x-rays). Radiation used in radiology is not only useful for helping to establish a diagnosis, it can also pose a danger to radiation workers and the general public who are around the radiation source. The method used is literature review, namely by examining data sources in the form of articles in research journal databases both from within and outside the country through e-journal searches, government regulations, and internet article sources that can be accounted for. The results showed that diagnostic radiology services are an integral part of medical services that need special attention because apart from being useful in establishing a diagnosis, it is also very dangerous for patients, staff and the surrounding environment if it is not carried out properly. In an effort to achieve quality and safe radiology services, excellent management and technical management are needed that are supported by good facilities/infrastructure, human resources and equipment.Dental hygienists should have knowledge of the application of safe radiation practices to all patients requiring radiographic examination. The findings of this study indicate that participants practice safer radiographic techniques with years of experience along with higher levels of education.

Abstract

Background : The Clean and Healthy Behavior Movement is a benchmark in health development in order to improve people's behavior. The achievement of PHBS indicators in Central Java in 2015 was 76.73%. This makes Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) a special concern for the government, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic. Instilling PHBS behavior in children is very important, because children's low knowledge of PHBS will affect their low body health status. Parents have a very important role in assisting children to study at home during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in applying knowledge about clean and healthy living behavior.Research Objectives: This research is to produce learning media at home for pre-school children through activity books and analysis of their effectiveness on the formation of Healthy Clean Living Behaviors.Research Methods: Research and Development (RD), there are ten stages, namely: potential problems, data collection, product design, expert validation, revisions, product trials, usage trials (quasi-experimental with pre-test and post test design), a sample of 30 children. The treatment was carried out for 14 days, measurements were carried out pre-experimentally, after 7 days, and after 14 days. The data were tested using freadmen followed by a post hoc wilcoxon test. Results: The average knowledge about clean and healthy living behavior (hand washing, nail hygiene, dressing hygiene, dental hygiene, hair hygiene, environmental hygiene) before giving the activity book was 32.5 then after the twelfth week. -1 to 74.5 knowledge is increasing in the 2nd week of 92.99. Based on the results of statistical tests, this Activity Book has an effect on the formation of healthy clean living behavior indicated by the p value 0.001Conclusion : Activity Book is effective as an effort to establish Healthy Clean Living Behavior in pre-school children.

Abstract

Childrens with Autism have difficulty to clean their oral cavity because less of ability in motor skills. Case reports show that the average autistic child has dental caries and periodontal disease due to the inability to brush their teeth properly. Autistic children spend a lot of time with their families so that the role of families, especially parents, is very important in the development of children with autism. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of brush teeth video counseling to improve brushing teeth skill in parents of autistic children at SLB 2 Provinsi Jambi. Study design is a quasi experimental study. The independent variable was the video counsellling of brushing teeth and the dependent variable was the parent’s ability of brushing teeth. The Sample in this study were parents of autistic children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The average age of the respondents was 41 years (CI: 38 - 44). Wilcoxon test showed p value 0, 0001 (0.05) means significant difference of brushing skills between treatment group and control group. Mann Whitney showed p value 0.0042 (0.05), means significant difference between before and after intervention in the treatment group. Providing education on brushing skills to children with autism cannot be done instantly, it is necessary for the role of parents in teaching tooth brushing skills to be carried out continuously until children can brush their teeth independently. There is an improvement in brushing skills in parents of autistic children through counseling using videos on how to brush teeth.

Abstract

The prevalence of dental caries among children in Indonesia is still high. Riskesdas data in 2018 shows that children aged 8-12 years are vulnerable to dental caries problems. Dental caries have an impact on children's quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between risk factors for dental caries and children's quality of life and the magnitude of the influence of each risk factor. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The population is elementary school children in the area of Banyuraden, Gamping, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The time of the study was from March 2021 to August 2021. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling; the number of samples was 200 children. The influence variable is the risk factor for dental caries, and the affected variable is the child's quality of life. The research instrument is a questionnaire consisting of 30 statement items. Assessment of dental caries risk factors includes knowledge of caries, tooth brushing behavior, and cariogenic food eating habits. In contrast, assessing children's quality of life is seen from oral cavity complaints, functional complaints, psychological complaints, and limitations of social interaction. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate, and chi-square tests. The results showed more children with low quality of life (67.0%) than children with high quality of life (33.0%). The chi-square correlation test results showed a significant relationship between knowledge about dental caries and children's quality of life (p=0.002; OR=2.77), between tooth brushing behavior and children's quality of life (p=0.012; OR=2.14).  as well as between the habit of eating cariogenic foods with the quality of life of children (p=0.020; OR=2.03). This study concludes a significant relationship between knowledge, behavior, and eating habits with children's quality of life.
