Abstract

AbstractFormulation and stability testing of hair tonic contain galangal rhizome (Alpinia galanga L.) ethanol extract and Aloe vera L. filtrate has been done as alternative for dandruff removal and hair growth. This study aimed to produce stable hair tonic. Galangal rhizome extract obtained by maceration method using ethanol and aloe leaf filtrate obtained by filtering. Extracts and filtrates characterized include water and ethanol soluble content, water and ash content. Hair tonic was formulated by mechanical mixing method with variations of galangal rhizome ethanol extract and aloe vera leaf filtrate which were 4% and 12.5%; 5% and 25%; 6% and 37.5%. Hair tonic prepared were tested for stability by cycling test method including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity. The characteristics of the galangal rhizome ethanol extract were 12% water soluble extract, 12% ethanol soluble extract, 3% water content, and 2% ash content. The characteristics of Aloe vera leaf filtrate were 10% ethanol soluble extract, 1.6% water soluble extract, and 1% ash content. Stability testing shows that hair tonic preparations are organoleptically stable and homogeneous. The pH values before and after cycling test for formulas A, B, and C were 5.27 to 5.34, respectively; 5.00 to 5.15; and 4.87 to 5.05. Viscosity before and after the cycling test for formulas A, B, and C were 1.178 to 1.676 cPs respectively; 1,306 to 1,883 cPs; and 2,148 to 2,296 cPs. It is concluded that hair tonic prepared are stable based on the requirements of Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

Abstract

Healthy Lifestyle (Germas) and Fit with Jamu action (Bude Jamu) are the programs to improve health, which promote physical activities, consumption of fruits and vegetables, and the utilization of jamu. The figure of the mother in the family comes in the role of regulating a good diet for the family. In connection with these two programs, study was conducted to determine the profile of fruits consumption and utilization of jamu among housewives in Cicanir and Jatipamor villages, using the cross-sectional design with the number of respondents based on the number of minimum requirements in its activities. 150 Housewives were involved and given questions about the frequency of buying fruit, the favorite fruit, the habit of drinking jamu. The results were that most respondents bought fruit twice a week, their favorite fruits included orange, banana. People who drank jamu in Cicanir and Jatipamor were 40.79% and 25.86%, with the aim of disease prevention was 96.77% and treatment disease was 46.66%. Jamu gendong was the main source of jamu that was utilized, besides that the expertise in making jamu was still practiced and maintained by some respondents. In conclusions, fruit consumption in Cicanir and Jatipamor was quite good. Housewives in Cicanir and Jatipamor used jamu for the purpose of preventing and treating diseases. Jamu gendong was the most widely used source of jamu and the expertise in making jamu is still maintained. These all showed that the culture of Germas and Bude jamu have been applied in the lives of respondents.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) is agras, produces antimicrobial compounds called bacteriocin. It can reduce its dependence on antibiotic use. Enterococcus is one of member LA.B. This bacterium has a short and paired chain shape and produces bacteriocin called enterocin. This compound can inhibit the growth of pathogenic microbes that cause disease and food spoilage, so that it can be used as an antimicrobial and biopreservative and also as a probiotic candidate. The use of Enterococcus as a probiotic and biopreservative is often disputed. However, some studies suggest that cases of bacteremia and urinary tract infections by the genus only occur in people who have immune compromised and enterococcus that have been resistant to vancomycin.

Abstract

AbstractAedes aegypti mosquitoes are vectors of dengue fever caused by dengue virus infection. Marigold flower (Tagetes erecta) is a multipurpose plant, marigold flower has a distinctive smell that is widely used as an insect repellent plant. Marigold flower contains a compound of secondary metabolites that potentially have an effect as a natural insecticide. This study was conducted with a complete random draft by taking five treatments, namely: one negative control group (K-), three treatment groups (p1, P2, P3), and one positive control group (K+). The test results portray the marigold flower ethanol extract has a protection power of 0% on K-; 41.67% on P1; 71.67% on P2; 93.3% on P3; and 100% on K+. Screening phytochemicals against marigold flower ethanol extract identifies positive compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids. The protection power result shows that the marigold power ethanol extract 10% concentration lotion has a potential to have activity as repellent against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with protection power above 90%.AbstrakNyamuk Aedes aegypti merupakan vektor dari penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) yang disebabkan oleh infeksi virus dengue. Bunga marigold (Tagetes erecta) merupakan tanaman yang multiguna, bunga marigold memiliki bau khas yang menyengat sehingga banyak digunakan sebagai tanaman pengusir serangga. Bunga marigold mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder yang berpotensi memiliki efek sebagai insektisida alami. Penelitian dilakukan dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan mengambil lima perlakuan, yaitu satu kelompok kontrol negatif (K-), tiga kelompok perlakuan (P1, P2, P3), dan satu kelompok kontrol positif (K+). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bunga marigold memiliki daya proteksi pada K- sebesar 0%, P1 sebesar 41,67%, P2 sebesar 71,67%, P3 sebesar 93,3%, dan K+ sebesar 100%. Skrining fitokimia terhadap ekstrak etanol bunga marigold mengidentifikasi positif senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan triterpenoid. Hasil pengujian daya proteksi menunjukkan bahwa lotion ekstrak etanol bunga marigold konsentrasi 10% berpotensi memiliki aktivitas sebagai repellent terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegypti dengan daya proteksi diatas 90%.

Abstract

Sea pandanus plants are plants that are spread along the coast in Indonesia. Pandan sea fruit itself has never been used by the community, so it becomes waste on the beach. The purpose of this study was to make a formulation of effervescent granules from ethanolic extracts of sea pandanus (Pandanus tectorius) which has analgesic activity. The effervescent granule formula consists of ethanol extracts of sea pandanus, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, tartaric acid, mannitol, lactose, PVP, aerosils and orange dyes. The difference of the three formulas are the ratio of the concentration of sodium bicarbonate which is 25%, 30% and 35%, respectively. The results show that the best formula is formula I, which fulfills the organoleptic test requirements, water content, rest angle, real specific gravity test, incompressible density test, compressibility, disperse time and pH. The analgesic activity test results using siegmund method known analgesic activity of formula I as the best formula with a dose of 125 mg / kg BW and aspirin as a comparison with a dose of 65 mg / kg body weight gives an anlgetic effect with protective power is 83.68%.

Abstract

ABSTRAKBiosurfaktan banyak dimanfaatkan dalam bidang bioteknologi dan dapat diaplikasikan dalam berbagai industri seperti farmasi, obat-obatan, biomedis, kosmetik, oleokimia, produksi asam lemak dan turunannya, deterjen, penyamakan kulit, petrokimia dan minyak bumi. Penggunaan surfaktan dalam berbagai industri dapat menyebabkan masalah dalam penggunaannya karena dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan karena sifatnya yang sulit terurai (non biodegradable). Berdasarkan hal tersebut perlu mencari sumber surfaktan yang aman bagi lingkungan seperti biosurfaktan yang berasal dari mikroorganisme, salah satunya bakteri keratinolitik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari sumber penghasil biosurfaktan dari isolat bakteri keratinolitik menggunakan teknik metode oil displacement dan emulsifikasi. Teknik pengujian aktivitas biosurfaktan dengan metode oil displacement dilakukan untuk mengukur zona perpindahan minyak untuk mendapatkan nilai oil displacement area (ODA), dan metode emulsifikasi dilakukan untuk menentukan nilai indeks emulsifikasi (IE24). Dari hasil pengujian biosurfaktan pada masing-masing isolat bakteri keratinolitik diperoleh nilai ODA sebesar 38.0 dan 15.0 mm dan EI24 sebesar 20 dan 15% untuk masing-masing isolat bakteri. Aktivitas biosurfaktan yang diperolah pada pengujian oil displacement seiring dengan hasil yang diperoleh pada pengujian emulsifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa bakteri keratinolitik mampu menghasilkan biosurfaktan meskipun nilainya kecil.Kata Kunci: bakteri keratinolitik, biosurfaktan, indeks emulsifikasi, oil displacement.

Abstract

AbstrakDiabetes Melitus (DM) adalah penyakit metabolik kronik yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya kadar glukosa darah. Kepatuhan pengobatan yang rendah terhadap terapi pengobatan pada pasien DM tipe 2 dapat mengakibatkan peningkatan resiko biaya pengobatan serta peningkatan komplikasi penyakit. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan terhadap pengobatan dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian edukasi. Edukasi dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai cara salah satunya dengan pemberian booklet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepatuhan minum obat pasien DM tipe 2 sebelum dan setelah pemberian booklet dilihat dari kadar Glukosa Darah Sewaktu (GDS) dan skor Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) dan mengetahui hubungan antara kadar GDS dan skor MMAS-8 terhadap tingkat kepatuhan minum obat pasien DM tipe 2 di Puskesmas Wua-Wua Kota Kendari Tahun 2018. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan sampel sebanyak 40 pasien DM tipe 2 yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu 20 pasien kelompok kontrol dan 20 pasien kelompok intervensi. Kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dan skor MMAS-8 diukur sebelum dan setelah empat minggu pemberian intervensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan tingkat kepatuhan minum obat pasien DM tipe 2 di Puskesmas Wua-Wua Kota Kendari sebelum dan setelah pemberian booklet. Berdasarkan kadar GDS, kelompok kontrol sebelum dan setelah pemberian booklet yaitu 296,2 mg/dL turun menjadi 261,85 mg/dL, sedangkan kelompok intervensi yaitu 275,7 mg/dL turun menjadi 198,1 mg/dL. Berdasarkan skor MMAS-8 pada kelompok kontrol sebelum dan setelah pemberian booklet yaitu 3,4 menjadi 2,35 sedangkan kelompok intervensi yaitu 4,45 menjadi 0,8. Hasil uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang kuat (r=0,783) antara kadar glukosa darah sewaktu dengan skor MMAS-8 pada pasien DM tipe 2 dalam menggambarkan tingkat kepatuhan pasien dengan taraf kepercayaan p=0,000 (p<0,05), dimana nilai p menunjukkan bahwa edukasi DM melalui pemberian booklet efektif membantu meningkatkan kepatuhan pasien yang dapat dilihat dari skor MMAS-8 rendah dan kadar GDS yang rendah.Kata kunci: DM Tipe 2,  MMAS-8, Booklet, Kepatuhan AbstractDiabetes mellitus (DM) is chronic metabolic disease characterized by increased blood glucose levels. Low medication compliance for treatment therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes can result in increased risk of treatment costs and increased disease complications. One way to improve adherence of treatment can be done by providing education. Education can be done in various ways one of them is by giving booklets. This study aims to determine the level of compliance for taking medication of patients with type 2 DM before and after the administration of the booklet seen from the level of Blood Glucose While (GDS) and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) scores and determine the relationship between GDS levels and MMAS-scores 8 to the level of compliance for taking medication of patients with type 2 DM in Wua-Wua Health Center, Kendari City in 2018. This research is quasi-experimental study type with 40 patients with type 2 DM divided into 2 groups: 20 control group and 20 intervention group. Blood glucose levels and MMAS-8 scores were measured before and after four weeks of intervention. The results showed that there were differences in the level of compliance for taking medication of type 2 DM patients at Wua-Wua Health Center in Kendari City before and after the booklet was given. Based on the level of GDS, the control group before and after the administration of the booklet was 296.2 mg / dL down to 261.85 mg / dL, while the intervention group that was 275.7 mg / dL fell to 198.1 mg / dL. Based on MMAS-8 scores in the control group before and after the administration of the booklet, it was 3.4 to 2.35 while the intervention group was 4.45 to 0.8. The Spearman correlation test results showed that there was strong relationship (r = 0.783) between the blood glucose levels when with MMAS-8 scores in type 2 DM patients in describing the level of compliance of patients with level p = 0,000 (p <0.05), p-value indicates that DM education through effective booklet administration trust helps improve patient compliance which can be seen from low MMAS-8 scores and low GDS levels.Keywords: DM Type 2, MMAS-8, Booklet, Compliance

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Kelor dikenal sebagai The Miracle Tree atau pohon ajaib. Hal ini didukung dengan fakta bahwa kelor terbukti secara ilmiah merupakan sumber gizi berkhasiat obat(Tutik et al., 2018).  M. oleifera sudah banyak digunakan sebagai sumber makanan dan telah digunakan sebagai obat selama berabad-abad lamanya, diantaranya penyakit kulit, infeksi pernapasan, infeksi telinga dan gigi, hipertensi, diabetes, kanker, antiinflamasi, antioksidan, hiperglikemia dan makanan suplemen. Tujuan : untuk menentukan nilai toksisitas kulit batang kelor (Moringa oleifera) dengan menggunakan metode  Brine Shrimp Lethaly Test (BSLT). Metode : Serbuk kulit batang kelor diekstraksi dengan cara maserasi. Fraksi diperoleh dengan metode cair-cair. Sifat toksik diuji dengan menggunakan metode Brine Shrimp Lethaly Test (BSLT). Kadar fenolik dikur dengan menggunakan metode reagen Folin-Ciocalteau. Kadar flavonoid dianalisis dengan metode kolorimeter Aluminium klorida. Hasil : Ekstrak metanol menunjukkan nilai toksik yang kuat dibandingkan dengan fraksi n-heksan dan air dengan nilai toksisitas sebesar 153,394 ppm. Kadar fenolik dan flavonoid yang tertinggi terdapat pada ekstrak metanol dengan kadar sebesar  509,91 g EAG/100 g sampel untuk fenolik dan 536,11  gEK/100 g sampel  untuk flavonoid. Kesimpulan : Kulit batang kelor memiliki sifat toksik dengan ekstrak metanol paling toksik, sehingga bias ditelusuri lebih lanjut untuk mengetahui senyawa yang paling bersifat toksik
