Abstract

New media era brought a complex story about what is media audience nowadays. The situasion in this postmodernism world is quite different because audience has become more active in consuming the new media. The one that once known as mass audience has now dissapeared because of the popularity of the new media. When audience is no longer a mass, fandom emerge as one of the most known as the new media audience.

Abstract

Every citizen has interest and preference on who should command him/her andon the public policy.  The directly election of local leader is part of citizen contribution to the public policy corresponding to the Act No. 32 of 2004 about Local Government. That the governor and vice governor position is not based on the election mechanism by DPRD like the previous  age.  Thus, the society   is political  participation  has a very important   role here. Based on the result of research shows  that generally,  the rural society  in subdistrict  Karanggede  Boyolali  has  the   lower participation  level  in the Central Java's Governor of 2008.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the display program contest dangdut D'Academy in private television Indosiar interests of non Dangdut Music School students Adsor Purnomo Semarang on dangdut music. Subjects were students of the School of Music ADSOR Purnomo Semarang. This study population are young students, with a sample of 24 respondents using Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The cornerstone of the theory used in this research is adopted from DeFleur, namely the theory of dependency media, shows the system media and social institutions interact with audiences in creating needs and interests. The question in this research is how the influence of impressions D'Academy contest program on adolescent interest in music dangdut. The results of the study, concluded that there is significance between the display program contest dangdut D'Academy to teen interests in music dangdut. With T regression test results, proving there is a positive influence between program-view contest dangdut D'Academy in private television Indosiar interests of non Dangdut Music School students Adsor Purnomo Semarang on dangdut music.

Mass media can be called as a company. If media owner want contruction of production result as his/her want, so that the out put will suitable with that contruction. Creativity from worker will be limited for they work situation under pressure, intervension and rule that bind from top management. Abstract

As a form of puppet people development standard, Opera Van Java (OVJ) which aired on Trans 7 can be regarded as puppets of the grip of revolution on a large scale given the characteristics of the OVJ them is to use the Indonesian language and do not use master narratives. OVJ phenomenon is developing a play slapstick tradition of Mataram who first appears. If all this a play performed on the dimensions of verbal (words / sentences), in this OVJ also other aspects of the thematic core of which is actors, morality story, characterization of his characters, costumes, music, and even setting the stage. Opera Van Java turned into popular culture in the form of puppet people are loaded with innovation and reintepretation.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the barriers of intercultural communication that occurs in the Japanese translation - Indonesian and vice versa in PT. METEC Semarang, which is the capital of Japan's foreign companies. The theory used in this study are speech codes theory, where acts of communication is not only seen from the spoken words alone, but cultural background, facial expressions, gestures, intonation is a unity that would give meaning to the act of communication. The results of this study indicate that there are two obstacles, namely the translation of external factors and internal factors. External factors consist of technical terms and new terms, length of utterance, speaking speed, and tone of voice. Internal factors consist of cognitive factors, namely speed and vocabulary to understand the message, and psychological factors are anxiety is high.

Abstract

Media audience, in general, using representation of women in the media to "see" women. How does the media show the figure of a woman often becomes references and examples used to assess women in general. Not only how man seeing woman, but women see themselves and other women see each other. This condition seemed to reinforce the encouragement of women to remain in the view of women in the past is loaded with socio-political. In many media, women are still portrayed as "mere body" related to sexuality. Besides the still dominant view that shows women as "a figure in the kitchen", the less equilibrate view that showing women in the intellectual and career figures, reinforce the representation of "traditional" women. And finally appeared in public perception will remain the same. Representation of woman according to the spirit of emancipation of women only appears in the commemoration of Kartini day, mothers day, and other momentum associated with women.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meanings contained in the sequence of the ceremonial procession in the village of Sea Alms Tanjungan as an annual tradition organized by the local community. Theory basis used is the symbol by Susanne Langer's theory which states that a symbol or set of symbols works by connecting a concept, the general idea, pattern, or shape. Symbols are human conceptualization of a thing, there is a symbol for something. Research methods in use is descriptive qualitative, by describing the results that have been obtained from observation and depth interviews with informants. Results in the can that is symbolic ceremonies Sea Alms is a form of implementation of gratitude local community to God Almighty for the gift that has been given, as well as their respect to guard the sea are believed during this important role for the safety of the villagers Tanjungan. This research linkages with communication studies is that people can establish a value of life by applying them in the form of symbols that can be agreed upon by the perpetrators so as to form a culture.

Abstract

The importance of mass media tend to described as the fourth pillar of a nation, that represents democration, after the existence of nation sets of government forces. In line with teori agenda setting thesis emphasize media force to influence society agenda, and in the end will brought particular change towards. Post-reformation, media tend to isolate themselves from society needs although society is their biggest and the most loyal audiences. Thus called mainstream media consider economic importance as the most important aspect, this fact encouraging media to deviate from their main purpose as the provider of idea and knowledge, whether to give out information or to accomodate various needs and interest. This condition known as the end of media , related with this condition the emergence an alternate known as citizen journalism really needed to balance out information current. The existence of citizen journalism encourage audience to participate as subject and object to control journalistic mechanism.

Abstract

This paper seeks to understand the extent to which social media provides the effect of doing branding Esgrim House Semarang. theoretical basis in this paper is the Narrative Paradigm of Walter Fisher stressed that man is a storyteller and that consideration will be of value, emotion and aesthetics into the basic beliefs of our behavior, or simply refers to the understanding as well as the reaction of everyone when receiving messages the disampaiakan. From these results, it was found that a storyteller admin is his, whereas kususnya twitter and social media instagram serve as tools in the communication process Esgrim House Semarang. So performance this case, social media has a role to introduce products, information centers, as well as archiving online gallery measuring instrument success in branding Esgrim House Semarang.
