KARSA is a peer-reviewed national journal published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri Madura. It has been nationally accredited SINTA 2 since 2017 by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia. It is published twice a year (June and December). It publishes articles of research results, applied theory studies, social issues, cultural studies, and Islamic culture issues. The aim of KARSA is to disseminate cutting-edge research that explores the interrelationship between social studies and (including) culture. The journal has scope and seeks to provide a forum for researchers interested in the interaction between social and cultural aspects across several disciplines. The journal publishes quality, original and state-of-the-art articles that may be theoretical or empirical in orientation and that advance our understanding of the intricate relationship between social science and culture. KARSA accepts manuscript with a different kind of languages are Indonesian, English, Arabic, or French.

Abstract

AbstracThe city master plan connecting to its interior design has been the major requirement to develop a city. It comprises both private and public interest development. Therefore, every city development must intentionally consider environment harmony and balance. To carry out this, the government applies a tight development license. Ijin Lingkungan (environment care license) as a means of environment conservation, has not been ruled as a comprehensive environment care license. This license refers to a dual license systems---industrial license and Hinder Ordonannantie. On the other hand, Stb. 1926 No. 226 is not used any longer  as a reference of improving the system of environment care license. The government also recommends a continuity development. Abstract

AbstracFor Indonesia, as an agro-country, soil remains the important factor of production that can take its people to prosperity. This has been determined by the ecological structure of a certain region as well. The later factor contributes the enrichment of agriculture production level. Unlike Java island that is dominated by sawah (watery field) farming system, Madura island is covered mostly by tegalan (dry filed). Having such kind of field, Madurese do a series of research and investigation. The result is that they are able to obtain a local knowledge. This is about how to manage local natural resources that sets up an cherished and equal relationship between environment and those people. It can avoid a massive exploitation. Local knowledge is a form of environment wisdom that has been traditionally maintained and inherited from generation to generation. In running the nature, Madurese cultivates a number of plant varieties. They include subsystem plants---rice and corn, and commercial plant such as tobacco. Abstract

AbstracMadura coastal ecosystem has a variety of biological resources. It either has been productive  or possesses  a high quality economic value. The coastal area Aberration  becomes one of the factors of the coastal ecosystem damages. Furthermore, the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources along the coastal areas exacerbates the damage. The absence of belonging sense among the coasters toward the mangrove forest- ecosystem seems the factor either. It needs a rehabilitation of mangrove forest to anticipate as well as to discontinue the damage area.  In order to apprehend this, a comprehensive maintenance of the whole stakeholders must be taken. Abstract

AbstracIslamic teaching, to maintain quality of healthy life, has inspired Madurese. This island has treasure of culture that harmonizes  Islamic credo. This article studies people’s notion on Madurese herbal ingredients, the existence of Madurese herbs  in dealing with environment conservation, socio-cultural value, and today’s people perception toward Madurese herbs. The result of study shows that Madurese herbs has been the work of Madurese ancestors and piece of traditional treasury to keep a healthy life. Presently, it is assumed that Madurese herbs hold up the harmony of husband and wife intimate relationship.  This is undeniable fact but Madurese herbs also enclose the other restorative power instead.  The cultivation of Madurese herbal ingredients will give a good impact to the effort of environment conservation.  This is also expected to preserve the drinking help tradition as a medium to have a healthy life. Abstrak:Dengan gaya bahasa refelektif, memberontak dan “kiri”, artikel ini berusaha menunjukkan relasi konsisten-koherensial antara kedewasaan beragama yang mengejawantah dalam kedewasaan berbudaya yang akhirnya akan mengantarkan pada penjaminan kedewasaan berbangsa.  Berislam, yang mencerminkan kedewasaan adalah keberagamaan yang berusaha menyadari bahwa praksis keagamaan bukan merupakan hakikat agama, sehingga –berislam—lebih merupakan tindakan manusia Muslim yang sadar budaya, sehingga untuk berislam tidak mesti mengidentifikasi diri sebagai Arab Murni, tetapi secara arif berusaha menyerap nilai lokalitas. Abstract

Abstrak:Jatidiri manusia terletak pada moralitasnya berupa kearifan budaya dan kefasihan estetika. Moralitas itu yang membedakan [kemuliaan] individual manusia dan makhluk Tuhan lainnya. Ungkapan reflektif ini seringkali disuarakan oleh nurani seniman/budayawan yang tanpa kenal lelah menumbuhkan ekspresi, kreasi, dan produksi karya seni yang memadukan olah pikir dan olah rasa. Dalam beragam bentuknya, sajian karya seni sering disalahpahami sehingga mengalami pelarangan, pencekalan, dan bahkan pemasungan. Walaupun begitu, kreasi hasil karya seni tidak dapat dikubur karena dia berdimensi kebenaran estetik dan suara-sakral nurani kemanusiaan. Karenanya, kebebasan ruang kreativitas perlu dibuka-lebar bagi seniman/budayawan agar mereka memiliki kearifan untuk memunculkan atau malah menguburkan karya seni sebagai sajian yang memiliki keayakan. Dalam spirit itulah artikel ini disajikan sebagai bagian dari upaya menuju kearifan budaya dan estetika menjadi manusia yangbermoralitas sejati.Kata kunci:budaya, santun, estetika, seni, kemanusiaan

Abstrak:Tulisan ini berusaha menyajikan lanskap dialektika Islam dengan dimensi lokalitas budaya. Secara dikhotomik, kemudian dimunculkan konsep Islam Pribumi  dan Islam otentik  dengan segala karakteristik dan implikasinya. Islam pribumi dengan karakteristik ramah lingkungan dan memainkan “politik garam” yang tidak tampak namun menyatu-bersenyawa dengan budaya yang dihinggapinya dan Islam otentik dengan karakteristik “khas Arab” dan memainkan “politik bendera” yang sangat menonjolkan superioritas-hegemonikalnya terhadap budaya lokal.Kata kunci:Islam pribumi, Islam Otentik, budaya lokal
