MIQOT: Jurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Keislaman is a peer reviewed academic journal, established in 1976 as part of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra Medan (see: video), dedicated to the publication of scholarly articles in various branches of Islamic Studies, by which exchanges of ideas as research findings and contemporary issues are facilitated. MIQOT is accredited as an academic journal by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia (SK Dirjen Dikti No. 040/P/2014) valid through February 2019. Miqot welcomes contributions of articles in such fields as Quranic Studies, Prophetic Traditions, Theology, Philosophy, Law and Economics, History, Education, Communication, Literature, Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology.

Abstract

Abstract: The Strategy of Curriculum Developt and Islamic Religious Education Learning. Islamic education is frequently criticized for not producing the desired attitudes and behaviors. Many factors have been suggested as being behind this problem, the most important being related to curriculum and methodology. In addition to design problems, Islamic education curriculum is too cognitive in nature and unable to adapt to changes. The prevalent methodology is not effective in processing cognitive knowledge into well internalized values that guide attitudes and behaviors. Our present author strongly suggests that any program to develop Islamic education must start with or at least take curriculum and methodologyinto serious consideration.Kata Kunci: kurikulum, pembelajaran

Abstract

Abstract: The Political Thought of Mahmûd Syaltût. The emergence of the Western political ideas in the Muslim world marks the beginning of the 20th century Islamic political thought. On the main, there are at least three mainstreams of attitude demonstrated by Islamic political thinkers as a response to such Western ideas, namely to accept in its entirety, to refuse and to criticize. The author argues that Mahmûd Syaltût is one of the political thinkers who belongs to the third category and tries to appreciate the positive aspects of Western political thought but who still sticks to the injunctions of the Qur’an and prophetic traditions. Abstract: Human Capital and Demography In State Building in theThought of Ibn Khaldun. The career and thought of Ibn Khaldun has been an object of study for quite a long period of time, yet much aspects seem to be unceasinly attracting scholars’ attention. The present article discusses Ibn Khaldun’s view of human resource and its use in state development. The underlying argumentation of Ibn Khaldun’s seems to be the importance of religion as the salient force of development. Any other natural or social forces-like the ashabiyyah and the natural suvival tendencies-by itself cannot be sufficient as the basis of civilized development.Kata Kunci: Ibn Khaldun, modal insani, pembangunan

Abstract

Abstrac : The survival of the Ottoman Empire for more than six hundred years (1281-1924 M) with its various weaknesses and advancement had a great contribution to the Islamic history. The empire centered in Istanbul but encompassing major portions of North Africa, the Arab world and Eastern Europe. This article concentrates on highlighting Siyâsah al-Syar’iyyah of the OttomanEmpire. Abstract

Abstrak: Evaluasi penyelenggaraan MAN meliputi input-process-product dan outcome. Penelitian ini hendak mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan penyelenggaraan MAN di Idi Rayeuk Aceh Timur dengan pendekatan contex-input-process-product (CIPP). Temuan penelitian, dalam input adalah bahwa input siswa, pembiayaan dan kurikulum, sarana dan prasarana belajar berada pada kriteria tinggi; sementara daya dukung orang tua siswa, sumber daya berupa guru dan tenaga kependidikan berada pada tingkatan relatif sedang, Untuk evaluasi proses yang berkaitan dengan perencanaan proses kompetensi guru, pembelajaran, pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran, penilaian pembelajaran, kegiatan pengembangan diri/ ekstrakurikuler, supervisi dan evaluasi dikategorikan rata-rata pada tingkat relatif tinggi. Sedangkan untuk produk, baik hasil belajar maupun kegiatan ekstrakurekuler pada tahap produk di Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Idi Rayeuk Aceh Timur di katagorikan rata-rata pada tingkat relatif tinggi. Abstract: The Evaluation of State Islamic Senior High School Management in East Aceh. The evaluation of state Islamic senior high school management includes input-process-product and outcome. The purpose of this research is to know how the management of state Islamic senior high school in Idi Rayeuk East Aceh with using contex-input-process-product (CIPP) approaches. The finding of the research especially for input part is the input of student, funding and curricula, the high criteria of facilities and infrastructure; while the parents carrying, teacher and education staff are in middle level, for evaluation process which related with the planning process of teacher competency, learning, learning process, learning evaluation, extracurricular activity, supervision and evaluation categorized at the high level. But for the product, either learning result or extracurricular activity in state Islamic senior high school in Idi Rayeuk East Aceh categorized on average at a relatively high level. Kata Kunci: Aceh, madrasah, evaluasi program, contex-input-process-product

Abstract

Abstract: The Legal Position of Monopoly (ihtikâr ) in Hadîts Perspectives. One of the functions of prophetic traditions (hadîts) is to provide explanation for the Qur’anic injunctions. In line with this function, no single verse did the Qur’an deal with the issue of monopoly. Monopoly is a kind of social dealing or trading that causes the society suffer at the most. The merchant hoards certain goods and monopolizes the market when the supply decreases while the demand raises, and when social demand reaches its peak, the merchat releases the goods and sells them in very high prices. Through close reading of the prophetic tradition, the author argues that there can be found some tenets which expressedly prohibit such practice. This essay attempts to examine the validity of monopoly related prophetic traditions and concludes that their validity can be achieved.Kata Kunci: ihtikâr, takhrîj, ekonomi Islam

Abstract

Abstract: The Relationship Between Islam and Judaism in the Context of Religious Pluralism. Religious pluralism has been an object of hot debates for decades, partly because of the recurring conflicts among different ‘religious’ communities. The present writer attemps to analyze the relations between Islam and Judaism in the contexts of religious pluralism, applying in the main Qur’anic exegesis method. The choice is interesting not only because of the close relation between the two in the history of Abrahamic religions but also in the context of the seemingly endless Israeli-Pelestine. The author believes that the way people read their holy book could contribute significantly to the effort of building harmony and peace.Kata Kunci: Islam, Yahudi, pluralisme agama

Abstract: Foundation of Muhammad ‘Abduh’s Philosophy of Islamic Education. This article attempts to elaborate four philosophical concepts used by Muhammad ‘Abduh in constructing his thought in Islamic education. Thesekey concepts constitute his views on man, society, knowledge and morale (akhlâq). In his capacity as a reformer, Muhammad ‘Abduh did not only explain and emphasize the interrelation of these concepts in education, but also emphasize man’s need to maintain his faith in God, as well as build interaction amongst man at social level. Abstract

Abstract: Apostasy: Between Death Penalty and Religious Freedom: A Thematic Study of Hadîth. One of the most sensitive discussions in Islamiclaw is the issue of apostasy. Some scholars of Islam maintain that the dead penalty for the apostate found in the precept of Islamic law is perceived as contrary to human rights, since it is against the principles of religious freedom. This paper presents a different perspective, which explains that this allegation is not entirely true. Not merely because of the apostasy. By using thematic hadis approach, this essay attempt to proof that it is apostasy which combined with rivalry against the state and enmity against Islam (bughât) that can be penalized with death sentence. Abstract

Abstract: Eductional Thought of Ibn Miskawah. In the rank of great classical Muslim thinkers we have Ibn Miskawaih, mostly popular as a philosopher specializing in moral philosophy. His writings have attracted numerous scholars and initiated lively debates among students. Our present writer makes a new thrust into the thought of Ibn Miskawayh, arguing that in fact he also advanced great educational thought in his magnum opus, Tahzîb al-Akhlâq.
