Abstract

Development of ports in the Lamong Bay may result in changes in flow pattern and velocity. In order for such development does not cause a big impact analysis should be made based on the understanding of the physical processes that will occur. This study examined the flow pattern and velocity of Lamong Bay. Existing model simulation results indicate that the direction of motion of the water flow to the front line of Gresik Ports were more integrated with the dominant direction were Northwest - Southeast, whereas in front of the Port of Tanjung Perak flow direction were dominated by West - East. The findings also suggest the direction of movement of currents in the Lamong Bay were more spread and dominated by the movement parallel to the contour of the coastline.

Abstract

It has been generally recognized that the interaction between soil and structure can indeed affect the response of structure, especially for those structures founded on relatively flexible soil. Flexibility foundation caused by soil movement below, often becomes important factor in structural design and it will give more useful and realistic model. Therefore, the inclusion of soil-structure interaction (SSI) effect is particularly important in the analysis of structures subject to dynamic loads. A structures of Framed type machinery foundation structure built on soft clay was used as a model. It’s response was compared to fixed-base model in order to find-out the fixed-base condition model, in which it gave a result that was closed to SSI result responses that considering soil-structure interaction effect could be analyzed using fixed-base model. The condition was reached on model with length-height ratio of frame has non linear relation to beam-column stiffness ratio but it was almost liniear with gradient -1.13 on semi logarithmic scale.

Abstract

Unsignalized intersections, which are locations, with high potential traffic congestion, are the largest number of intersections in large cities in developing country such as Indonesia. Moreover, a number of side frictions worsen traffic congestion and then decrease performance of intersection. Some Regulator traffic signs have been installed to reduce traffic congestion at these locations. However, road users especially angkot (local public transportation mode) drivers ignored the signs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of side friction reduction to the performance of the intersection. Unsignalized intersection at Rajawali-Dadali in Bandung, Indonesia was used as a case study. Results of this paper showed that at the intersection with capacity of around 4000 pcu/hour, degree of saturation of 0.91 and delay of 15.3 second/pcu, traffic signs alone were not effective. The presence of police officer increased 8.46 percent of capacity, decreased 2.72 percent of degree of saturation, and decreased 4.93 percent of delay at the intersection. However, since the presence of police officers are not always available even during peak hours, it is recommended that the unsignalized intersections with high degree of congestions be changed into signalized intersections.

Abstract

A multi-level modeling and simulation method of structural system using grid-computing framework is proposed in this paper. Two levels of parallel processing will be involved in this framework: (1) multiple locally distributed computing environments connected by the local network to form (2) a grid-based cluster-to-cluster distributed computing environment. To successfully perform the simulations, a large-scale structural system is decomposed into the simulations of a simplified global model and several detailed component models with various scales. These correlated multi-scale simulation tasks are distributed amongst clusters and connected together in a multi-level modeling and simulation method and then coordinated over the internet. This paper also presents the development of a grid-computing software framework that can support the proposed simulation approach. The architectural design of the program also allows the integration of several multi-scale models to be clients and servers under a single platform. Additionally, the comparison result between proposed method and assumed exact solution show that the proposed simulation method is appropriate to simulate the response of the structural systems.

Abstract

The sustainable concept of irrigation system appraisal was based on Sustainable Development Concept with 3 components/pillars, Social, Economy and Environment that the balancing of that three values are that sustainable condition. According to Regulation issued by Ministry of Public Works No.30/PRT/M/2007,the irrigation system comprises of Irrigation Infrastructure, Irrigation Water, Irrigation Management Institution and Human Resources. This research combined the concepts of sustainability and irrigation system management. According to research result, there were 15 indicators of Tilong Irrigation System Sustainability based on the calculation method of AHP. The research result for Sustainable Appraisal of Tilong Irrigation System was Sub DI VII in the Sustainable condition, Sub DI V in the condition of Equitable, Sub DI II in the Sustain condition of environment, Sub DI I in the Environment Sustain Condition, Sub DI III in the Social Sustain Condition, Sub DI IV in the condition unsustain, Sub DI VI in the condition unsustain.
