Abstract

This development research is motivated because students need practical teaching materials when studied in class or outside the classroom. Religious characteristics and politeness of low students demand to reduce character values in teaching materials, so as to improve learning achievement and improve the character's value of participants student. This research is a type of R & D research with the procedure for developing pocket books using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subject of this study was the students of MA Sunan Katong class X with data analysis techniques using descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that mathematical pocket books based on character education on trigonometry material are feasible to use. Test the validity by evaluating the validator included in the valid category but needs to be slightly revised with an average percentage of 70.80%. The response of students to pocket books is included in the excellent category with a percentage of 86.60%. The results of the t-test get the result t_count = 2,248> t_table = 1,668 then H_1 is accepted. This means that the class average using mathematical pocket books based on character education is better than those that do not use pocket books. The n-gain score is 0.34. This shows that learning uses a pocket book of trigonometry based on character education to effectively improve the character education of students in the medium category.

Abstract

Recently mastery of scientific literacy for students has become the focus of education. The level of scientific literacy skills of students in Indonesia is low, which is influenced by misconceptions. So far, study on the development of diagnostic tests that uncover the misconception of scientific literacy is still limited, whereas it is much needed to improve the learning system in Indonesia. The result of observation and interview of scientific lesson in SMP Negeri 05 Semarang shows that students having difficulties in studying light materials and evaluation tools used by teachers are not continued to reveal misconception of scienctific literacy. The aims of this study to develop three tier multiple choice (3TMC) test with the scientific literacy aspect and to find the misconception of students' light scientific literacy. The research sample is class VIIIE and VIIIF with mix method of sequential explanatory strategy. The result of 3TMC test instrument with scientific literacy aspect which is developed which is 30 item where 25 items fulfill criteria with valid result, reliable, sufficient distinguishing, medium difficulty level while 5 grains are not used. The results of the interpretation indicate that the average learners have misconception of scientific literacy aspects of knowledge (A), science investigation competence (B), science as a way of thinking (C) and application of science to technology, society and environment. In-depth interviews were conducted on 7 students who experienced the highest misconception of scientific literacy. The result they experience misconceptions of scientific literacy indicators of light properties, viewing processes, eye defects and optical devices.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and describe feasibility a Four-tier diagnostic test instrument to figure out students' misconceptions in the material of the Excretion System.This study aims to develop a Four-tier diagnostic test instrument to figure out students' misconceptions in the material of the Excretion System. The type of this study is R & D (Research and Development) from Sugiyono (2017) with 10 stages. Those 10 stages are identification of potential and problems, data collection, product design, product validation, design revisions, product trials, product revisions, usage trials, product revisions and mass production. The trial subjects were students of class XII MIPA 3 (Test instrument), class XI MIPA 2 (product trial) and class XI MIPA 1 and class XI MIPA 4 (trial use) SMA Negeri 1 Mayong Jepara. This study used observation, documentation, questionnaire, interview and test as research method. First finding, the Four-Tier Diagnostic Test consists of four levels; the question, the level of answer confidence, reason and level of reasoning confidence. The instruments produced include grids, work instructions, test questions, answer keys, answer sheets, scoring guidelines and results interpretation guidelines. Second finding, the results showed that the Four-tier diagnostic test instrument was feasible to be used to reveal student misconceptions. Validity testing by 9 validators shows that the instrument developed is valid. Test validity shows 7 valid category questions, 16 invalid category questions. Test reliability developed by 0.699 means that the problem is reliable. Characteristics of the questions developed were (1) Difficulty level (2 difficult questions, 10 moderate questions, 8 easy questions and 3 very easy questions), (2) Different Power (2 good questions, 17 enough questions and 4 bad questions), and ( 3) Foolers can function properly. There are 41 misconceptions from 13 sub-topics developed.

Abstract

TK Wiji is a nursery school which was built at Jl. Untung Suropati no. 10  kelurahan Tegalrejo kota Pekalongan based on NPSN 69879295 of 2005 by Yayasan 99. TK Wiji is growing fast due to its education system which is in line to the 2013 national curriculum with the vision of toodler characteristic development. The most fundamental of character education is environment education. Considering to this situation, we have found that the most common litter of the nursery is disposable diaper. This kind of diaper is hardly degraded into its monomer. Colon’s research in 2013 has found a strategy to use this diaper as compost. Based on the problem of disposable diaper wastes in the nursery and also the result of the background research about exploiting the waste as compost, then the environment education for toodler of TK Wiji by using diaper waste as a material for hidroponic cultivation was done. In the beginning, guidances were given to the teacher in 2 phases which are making diaper waste composite into organic fertilizer and making hidrogel for interior plant cultivation by using the gel of the waste. In the next step, the teachers were asked to make improvisation regarding toodler environment education by using the skills. In spite of this, there was still an argument about the time management in the learning process by using diaper waste as the material. Thus an implementation of the skill for toodler extracuricular was stated.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to know the implementation of Discovery Based Unity of Sciences model in learning biology. The subjects of the study are students majoring in biology education of UIN Walisongo Semarang at first year 2017/2018. Research method using Research and Development (RnD).  Implementation of DBUS model there were 6 steps, ei: (1) Stimulation using local wisdom, (2) Problem statement, (3) Observation and Data collection, (4) Data Processing, (5) Verification base on religion (6) Implementation and awarenest. The N-gain value at UIN Walisongo obtained by the experimental class was 0.23 greater than the control group of 0.09. The results of statistical testing at the UIN Walisongo Semarang obtained the average value of the pretest was 2.45 and the average posttest score was 7.4167. The correlation between pretest posttest was 0.035 <5% with a t value = 9.332 with a sig value of 0.000 <0.05. The T test on the DBUS model at UIN Walisongo from the correlation results on T count is 0.862, showing the results of the correlation on the influence of DBUS model on the increase in PRB is High. The size effect of the DBUS model is categorized as having a large effect because it has a value of d> 0.8 that is d = 0.93.

Abstract

This reseach comprehending on the relation between mathematics anxiety and the academic competence of the first level students. This research is constituted by the performance of most students of the early study program of mathematics education still feel anxiety when dealing with mathematical problems in the learning of calculus, the emerging discomfort felt by the students. The method of this research is survey with corelation technique. The use of this method is to see how strong and how far the influence of mathematics anxiety on the students academic competence. The population of this research is the students of Mathematics Department faculty of teacher training and education in  Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon in the academic year 2016/2017. The sample of the research is purposive sampling which consists of 20 students who contracted differential calculus subject. The instrument  used in this research is mathematics anxiety scala. The result of the research shows that there is a negative relation between mathematics anxiety and students’ academic competence. The mathematics anxiety gives a contribution 35% to the students’ academics competence, and 65% influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This research aims to develop multi-representation teaching material that includes definitive,macroscopic, microscopic, and valid symbolic to determine students’ responses through multi-representation material. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Karangtengah, with subjects in class XI IPA 3. This research was applied to acid-base materials. The data obtained in this research are the results of expert validation and students’ responses tomulti-representation media teaching material: definitive, macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic. The data retrieval was conducted by expert judgement method to determine the validity of teaching materials, and the questionnaire method to determine student response through multi-representation material: definitive, macroscopic, microscopic, symbolic was validated by three validators. The research outcome shows that multi-representation media: definitive, macroscopic, microscopic, symbolic valid with an average score of 62 from a total score of 75. The student responses through multi-representation material showed a positive response through the material.

Abstract

The aims of this study to describe the science literacy profile of junior high school students in science learning. The research sample is the students of class IX junior high school in Pati. The research using this descriptive method, data were collected by using science literacy test questions, questionnaires, and interview formats. The results showed that the average achievement of student science literacy as a whole was 28,31%. Ability to explain scientific phenomena of 28.64%, students 'ability in evaluating and designing scientific investigation of 24.48% and students' ability in interpreting data and scientific evidence of 31.81%. This shows that the mean percentage of science literacy on three science literacy capacities measured shows <50%. The low one of the literacy skills of science will affect the ability of other science literacy. Based on the questionnaire analysis used in the research reveals factors that affect the ability of science literacy students include interest in science, learning motivation, teacher strategy in learning, and school facilities.
