Abstract

The rapid growth of e-wallet services in Indonesia has increased the use of AI-based chatbots in customer service. While chatbots enhance efficiency, the way they disclose their automated identity may shape users’ psychological and behavioral responses. This study examines the effect of perceived chatbot disclosure quality on trust and continuance intention in Indonesian e-wallet services. Drawing on the Stimulus–Organism–Response framework, disclosure quality is positioned as a communication stimulus, trust as the organismic state, and continuance intention as the behavioral response. A survey of 279 e-wallet users was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that perceived chatbot disclosure quality significantly influences trust and continuance intention. Trust also significantly predicts continuance intention and partially mediates the relationship between disclosure quality and continuance intention. The findings highlight that transparency sustains usage primarily by strengthening trust rather than functioning as a direct behavioral driver.

Abstract

Film is a reflection of social reality capable of constructing complex phenomena such as infidelity into a system of signs. This study aims to uncover the representation of betrayal and household breakdown in the film "Ipar Adalah Maut" through visual and verbal sign analysis. The main issue raised is how the presence of those closest to the family can pose a threat to domestic stability. The method used is descriptive qualitative with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis approach, which dissects meaning through the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth. The results show that the film presents betrayal not merely as an individual moral lapse, but as a deconstruction of the meaning of "home" from a safe space into a space full of threats. Through visual symbolism, such as the broken expressions of the main character and the transformation of private spaces, the film challenges the myth that family is the safest place. The study concludes that the film reproduces social views on the importance of privacy boundaries within the family. Household breakdown is represented as "death" (maut) that destroys the social structure, the moral authority of the mother figure, and fraternal bonds. These findings contribute to media studies regarding how modern Indonesian cinema naturalizes moral vulnerability within the family institution.

Abstract

This study examines group communication patterns in local wisdom-based mina padi management within the CIMINDI farmer group in Cilacap, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and analyzed through coding, categorization, and thematic interpretation. The findings reveal that communication does not follow a single structure but forms a hybrid communication pattern, combining centralized leadership with participatory interaction in a dynamic and contextual manner. This pattern is shaped by local wisdom values, including mutual cooperation, deliberation, the use of local language, and social trust, which strengthen group cohesion. The communication pattern contributes to successful mina padi management, reflected in increased productivity, cost efficiency, strong social relations, and minimal internal conflict. This study highlights that local wisdom functions not only as cultural values but also as a communicative structure that enables adaptive and sustainable group interaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Startwork.id constructs the reality of the world of work as a digital mass media platform within the context of digital life. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, employing thematic and interpretative analysis of ten Startwork.id editorial contents selected purposively, supplemented by limited interviews for meaning triangulation. The findings indicate that Startwork.id consistently frames the world of work as a dynamic, competitive space that requires continuous individual readiness. Narratives of success and ideal careers are built through the logic of self-improvement, professionalism, productivity, and personal responsibility, while the ideal worker is normalized as adaptive, competently relevant, proactive, and job-ready. At the same time, structural issues such as unequal access to employment, precarization, and power relations in the digital labor market are relatively absent from the platform’s narratives. This study affirms that digital work platforms do not merely function as information intermediaries but also act as communication agents that produce, select, and normalize particular meanings of work, career, and professional identity. Theoretically, this study extends the application of social construction of reality theory to the realm of local digital work platforms; practically, it offers a basis for critical reflection for platform managers, educational institutions, and young generations in engaging with career narratives in digital spaces.

Abstract

The existence of an organization is not solely based on shared characteristics among members but on their ability to develop collective awareness of common goals, reflected in loyalty to the organization. Organizational identity strengthens when members form bonds that foster a sense of belonging, shared interests, and commitment. Communication plays a vital role in building emotional connections that reinforce these relationships. This paper explores how identity construction can promote unity while potentially generating conflict within the organization. Using a literature study, the research reviews books, journals, and scholarly articles relevant to organizational communication. Findings suggest that equality within an organization stems from shared values, whereas differences act as boundaries shaping self-identity and influencing individual self-esteem within the organizational context.
