Abstract

Nowadays there is tons variation of animation no matter in form of 2D animation and 3D animation that we can’t even name it. Unfortunately little did we know about origin of animation specifically animation in particular country and region. By using modern searching engine and guidance by association of animation I manage to gather some information that critical and shall be exposed to new generation in the community. For every revolution there must be a spark that ignite the movement of animation in Malaysia. In these case I wonder wheres the starting point of the event and what helping it evolving to the point where are we now. Which I believe it all start when British colonizing Tanah Malaya in 1874. The Malayan Film Unit was created by the British colonialists in 1946 with the intent to produce documentaries and public service announcements of the government and later renamed Filem Negara Malaysia. A set designer working for the Unit named Anandam Xavier was asked to handle an animation project in 1961. Xavier set to work on the first in-country animation short subject "Hikayat Sang Kancil" until 1978, although the short would not see a release until 1983. For me that prove that animation in Malaysia start when there is involvement for outsider as there no prove that digital animation start in Malaysia before that. It is hope this study will inform The new generation about how animation in Malaysia started.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of printing technology, everyone can print brochures easily. The problem that often happened is that rapid usage of brochure in which it is usually discarded immediately after reading. If it happens continuously, it will cause a big environmental issue. Due to the issue, graphic designers are expected to have creative solutions for reducing the waste of brochure by making creative, reusable design, yet decreasing discarding the brochures by its users. A solution which accommodate the human needs, saving resources and the nature and environment sustainability should be created. Unconventional brochure is a brochure that has an unusual shape. The purpose of it is to make people feel they have something valuable from the brochure, so they will keep it as long as possible. The limitation of the content that conventional brochures can carry is generally quite troublesome because there are a lot of information needs to be omitted. Therefore, QR code (Quick Response Codes) and AR (Augmented Reality) brochure has real visualization and can give more realistic approach to the brochure content. Thus, we can use QR Code or AR technology as a way to support sustainable development.

Abstract

Education in the pandemic era has forced teachers and students to face multiple challenges in learning. Student engagement in distance learning has become a recent issue in EFL teaching. Preliminary investigations suggest that both synchronous and asynchronous learning will be less beneficial without student active involvement in the learning process. In fact, engaged students can achieve better since they are highly motivated and passionate about attaining the learning outcomes. Observations and qualitative surveys were conducted to investigate student autonomous motivation in studying Psycholinguistics online. The participants were currently trained to be EFL teachers at a private university in Indonesia. Therefore, as prospective teachers, it was assumed that the students had possessed sufficient motivation and autonomy before being enrolled in the course. However, the results of the study showed that the students struggled to understand the materials taught in the Psycholinguistics course since it required a lot of independent reading. Group work was not very effective in improving student achievement in the classroom, yet group presentation allowed students to exchange ideas, share experiences with peers and improve understanding of a particular subject matter.
