Abstract

No one asked to be born without a perfect physique. We cannot blame on the parent’s gene because mutation can be happened even though the parents are in a perfect health. For some unfortunate people, they have lost any part of their bodies, either their arms or their legs, or the ability to hear or speak after they met a tragic situation, whether from a horrible accident or facing mental health issue. Disabled people sometimes felt discouraged which led them into negative thinking and depression. That is why technologies for disabled are existed. There are wide range of technologies designed for these special people, which help them to have a perfect physique, seeing a nice sight and hearing beautiful sound. More outstanding athletes have been born because of the prosthetic, an assistive technology that widely used by athletes in Paralympic. Visually impaired or blind people can see better using a device named OrCam MyEye that enables them to read, to recognize faces, to identify products, and to provide a language support. People with hearing problem or deaf could live better because their hearing aids are provided with Bluetooth capability which can be connected to mobile phones and other devices with Bluetooth technology, often through an intermediary device. Furthermore, this new feature managed to overcome delayed sound problem. With these devices, disable people will able to stay in advances that have been going on in the world alongside with normal people.

Abstract

Mental health is a topic that is often brought to surface this day and age. It is extremely significant as it greatly affects one’s life. It is important that we do not only manage physical hygiene, but mental hygiene as well. Mobile applications are available for smartphones to help those suffering from different mental health conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, anxiety and many more. Such apps are well-designed to track someone’s mood, and other symptoms, depending on the condition and the application itself. Technology enables us to get help from a therapist at the comfort of our own homes, through online platforms such as Google Meet. Technology of Virtual Reality for certain mental conditions such Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD can be used. This works by recreating similar situations that bothers the patient, and the continuous exposure will make the memory permanently lose its ability to trigger extreme emotional reactions towards said exposure. It is important to note that one’s experience on social media depends on how you choose to use, so for example, the kinds of accounts you decide to follow. Social media is an ideal platform to find new friends who share similar interests with and how this helps, is that more social connection helps the mind ease stress and strive for the better. Therapists can also utilize social media to promote their services, since it is a more relevant platform these days and will be able to reach a larger demographics of people. In retrospect, technology is significantly useful when it comes to mental health and conditions.

Abstract

Even though design and art are important for the society, they are still considered different and separated one to another because of their different usability. Actually, both of them are inseparable. Design and art are created using the same fundamental art skills called illustration. Illustration is originated from narrative text which is interpreted into pictures. Illustration is known as the gray area of the world of art and design even though both of them use illustration for different purposes. It is also hard to categorize illustration as an art or as a design. This paper explains and discusses the general interpretation and knowledge of illustration. It can be found in the paper the definition of illustration and the reasons on the need of making illustration. It is also discussed in the paper how to make the illustration manually and digitally. The different types of illustration for different media, such as editorial book and other media, are also explained in detail. In conclusion, this study was conducted for giving a glimpse of what an illustration is and for suggesting answers to the debate whether the illustration is part of art or part of design.

Abstract

Systems thinking is a term to describe how the complexities of the real world can be explained. This method also includes several formal methodologies. On the other hand, system dynamics is a special model used by practitioners and researchers to describe the complexity of a system. Public policy formulation is a complex series of activities because it involves many parties. A system thinking approach and systems dynamics can be a suitable approach to describe the problem comprehensively. This approach is suitable for top management to formulate long-term policies. System dynamics see problems as a set of interdependent and continuous processes. This approach illustrates how a variable can affect other variables where this phenomenon is called a cause-effect relationship. The results of this system dynamics approach are in the form of scenario models that can be adjusted to the research objectives in order to obtain the expected scenarios for the formulation of public policies.

This paper presents a review of some literature highlighting the interaction in the online EFL classroom. Designing an online EFL classroom needs a careful planning because it is related to the language learning skills and the digital literacy learning skills that the students should comprehend. To make the design successful, all types of interactions sould be maintained the the online EFL classroom. Two types of online learning, which are synchronous and asynchronous learning, must provide the students an opportunity to build their knowledge by working collaboratively and having interaction with the sutdents and teacher to be able to learn better. The interaction is multiple which needs different methods for each conditions or a combination of several methods of interactions. The careful design planning and the appropriate choosen of interaction and collaboration methods provide the students with a safe environment for better engagement and active participation. The teacher presence, consists of social presence, teaching presence and cognitive presence, is very important in the online EFL classroom for maintaining and building the interaction with the students because the students tend to be passive. Abstract

This qualitative study examined the status, challenges experienced and coping strategies of the food and beverage businesses in the Municipality of Tigbauan amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Face-to-face interviews was conducted among eight (8) purposively selected local owners and managers of food and beverage businesses operating in the municipality of Tigbauan which are DTI registered and the data gathered were processed using thematic analysis. Results revealed that all of the Food and Beverage businesses interviewed have just re-opened after travel restrictions were eased. However, the researchers discovered that when localized lockdowns were implemented and when indoor dining was disallowed, their income was severely affected due to few customers to the extent that some of these businesses had to temporarily close and let go of some employees to avoid further losses. To keep their business afloat, some of them have initiated some strategies such as transitioning from traditional dine-ins to accepting online transactions and take-outs. They have also partnered with delivery riders to accommodate orders of customers who were afraid to leave home. This simply means that the COVID-19 pandemic has not only brought negative effects to the food and beverage sector but also prompted them to be innovative amidst the globalhealth crisis which eventually opened new business opportunities for their prosperity.

Abstract

Spatial data is information that contains the location or geographic information of a region on a map of objects on Earth. One of the methods in spatial analysis is Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR). GWR is the development of the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) theory into a weighted regression model that takes into account spatial effects, resulting in a parameter estimator that can only be used to predict each point or location where the data is observed and concluded. The application of the GWR method is expected to produce an accurate Human Development Index (HDI) model. This study applies the GWR method to the Human Development Index in each Regency or city in Central Java in 2021. With a global GWR determination coefficient value of 0.8577, it means that 85.77% of population density, percentage of the poor population, gross regional domestic product at constant prices, and adjusted school enrollment rates have a global influence on HDI. From the GWR model obtained, it is known that the value of the HDI variable will decrease if the value of the PPM variable increases by one unit in each Regency or city. The value of the IPM variable will increase if the value of the PDRB, KP, and APS variables increases by one unit in each Regency or city. Therefore,Regency or city governments in Central Java Province are expected to be able to overcome the problem of poverty and reduce the percentage of poor people so that there is an increase in the HDI.
