Abstract

The article talks about the analysis of grammatical aspect in talk show mario teguh golden ways galau nasib episode. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative. Data in the form of document were collected through transcription of the talk show that served on 4th may 2014. Data processing technique is contents analysis .The data were analysed through discourse analysis approach in order to find out the grammatical aspect used. The findings show reference, substitution, ellipsis and conjunction were  grammatical aspect that have been identified. Abstract

This thesis discusses about the oppression in the characters of Celie and Nettie in The Color Purple novel written by Alice Walker. The purposeof this thesis are to analyze the forms of oppression experienced by a female character who was 14 years old mistreatment of his father, Alphonso and to find the correlation between the oppression happened in the novel and theory postcolonialism by Frantz Fanon. The researcher used a qualiative data. The techniques are by reading the novel, underlining the keywords from the novel that can show the oppression forms, understanding the theory to find the correlation between the novel and the theory. Various forms of oppression character Celie as physical violence, verbal and emotional. The theory used to analyze this thesis is the theory postcolonialism  explained by Franz Fanon. In the theory, the oppression of human beings is destructive of the human mental. Based on the analysis of the authors that many forms of oppression experienced by the characters in the novel especially Celie and Nettie. It is concluded, oppression is a very destructive action of a character souls undergo such treatment. Keywords : oppression, characters, mental destruction

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the defamiliarization in Paulo Coelho?s novel entitled ?The Alchemist?. Lack of textual study and formalism use was become the common problem why this thesis were made. Formalism believe that meaning itself contained in form of text. Therefore, the author of this research take ?A Defamiliarization of the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho? as the title. The purpose of this study were: (1) to know the use of defamiliarization, (2) to understand the meaning of defamiliarization in this novel. A qualitative descriptive method was adopted to conduct this study. Several data that has been gathered were archived. Using domain to recognize the data classify, then taxonomy to find the most frequent data and componential were used to make the conclusion. After separating and classify the word, the author uses Viktor defamiliarization to find the strange and interpret the meaning. Defamiliarization was used in Coelho?s novel and meaning that separated into two forms, connotative and denotative. As the conclusion, the researcher found that defamiliarization used to deceive the reader and perceive the reader from the common words or sentence or meaning. Abstract

This analysis aims to describe sentence style in the short story "The Riddle" by Walter de la Mare. The data in this analysis is the word, phrases, clauses, sentences and paragraphs contained in the short story "The Riddle" by Walter de la Mare. Technique data collection in this analysis is reading techniques and note-taking techniques. This analysis is done by identifying, describing, and analyze sentence styles in the short story The Riddle by Walter de la Mare based on stylistic and parallelism reviews and the context of grammatical use of sentences. The results of this analysis are about the description of the points in the review. On the effect aspects of using the sentence style in The Riddle short stories by Walter de la Mare. The description is how sentence by sentence in a paragraph produces or creates an effect or indicates a happy effect, feeling sorry or pity, feeling angry or irritated, feeling sad or touched. Abstract

This paper investigates the depression experienced by women found in Guy De Maupassant's story which is sought from the characteristics of a woman who is depressed. It can be seen that Maupassant shows how the character of a woman who is depressed is due to the problems she faces while with her husband. With this short story, it is hoped that women can realize that when they get into trouble we should not save it ourselves so that depression does not occur. This paper analyzes the short story "Moonlight" by Guy De Maupassant (1882). Results from this study revealed that Maupassant wanted to show the side of women who were depressed because of their marriage. Results from this study revealed that Maupassant has shown that women are more prone to depression than men. Women who are depressed will experience physical changes and mood swings easily and women who are depressed are also more sensitive to words that are issued by someone. The depression experienced by a woman can come from anywhere including in a marriage like that experienced by Henriette. Abstract

This study aims to understand the Tone of the story of The Monkey's Paw By W.W. Jacobs Knowledge of the fic element Tone which aims to increase appreciation reader. This research is qualitative research with textual methods. Textual methods will investigate and analyze literary works with an emphasis on content analysis. According to Guba and Lincoln (in Moleong, 2005: 220), content analysis is done by interpreting and making conclusions through the identification of specific themes in the text objectively and systematically. Therefore, The Monkey's Paw By W.W.'s short story Jacobs serves to show that everything that will be done must be full of consideration and think of the consequences that will occur. This paper analyzes the short of The Monkey's Paw, one of the famous short stories by W.W. Jacobs. The results of this study reveal that W.W. Jacobs has shown what will happen from actions that ignore his words, especially about the consequences. The author hopes that this paper can be useful for readers in develop knowledge about plans as one element of fiction and can help readers to understand the tone of the story of the story of The Monkey's Paw By W.W. Abstract

The research will be discussing Psychology aspect especially in mental illness that is Dissociative Identity Disorder in the main character in Stephen King?s short stories. Dissociative Identity Disorder by DSM-IV (American Psychiatric Association, 1994:477) is a condition by the presence of two or more identities or personality. This Condition recurrently takes the individual's control behaviour and accompanied by an inability to remember important individual information called forgetfulness. The purpose of this research is to find some evidence that the main character of this short story really has Dissociative Identity Disorder syndrome there are come from behaviour, saying and etc. People who have Dissociative Identity Disorder syndromealso have some characteristic such as Forgetfulness, Depression, Trauma, and e.tc. This research is based on Strawberry King short stories, journal and some article become the reference for the theory. This research has obtained the result of how the main character?s in this short story face up some difficult conflict while he has turned into another personality. Abstract

The government plays an important role in guaranteeing the success of a country.  Similarly, for a province; the government of a province should take actions to improve the capacity of the province. However, when the government cannot synergize its role with the mandate of civil society organizations, the community will be living in an ambiguous situation. Civil society organizations can act against the government. Meanwhile, there could be some of the community will choose to be in the civil society organizations? side, or in the government?s side. This essay will describe how the Aceh Province in Indonesia has experienced various changes in the lives of its people because there was no synergistic opinion between the government and certain civil society organizations. Meanwhile, community welfare is the main goal to be achieved, so it is necessary to have good cooperation between government and civil society organizations. Abstract

This paper discusses women?s struggle in achieving the rights to be equal by comparing between Australia and Indonesia. This paper is a literature review that aims to analyze the differences and similarities faced by feminist in the two countries that adopt very different socio-cultural background, Western culture in Australia and Eastern culture in Indonesia. Besides, Islam as the religion of majority Indonesians is often blamed to barrier women to have equal right. Meanwhile, in Australia, being engaged in a religion is not compulsory and Muslims are the minority. Interestingly, there are contradict arguments, while many argued the influence of Western to support women in Indonesia to receive their rights; the history has recorded that Muslim women in Indonesia had attained higher education equal to men and had important positions in politics long before the term women emancipation was introduced in Australia. The methodology of writing is by analyzing secondary data from published literature on the issue. Moreover, this study found out that the ideological backgrounds of majority populations in each country influence gender equality achievement. From the two themes discussed (1) The Voice of the Majority in Determining the Implemented Law, (2) Faith-Based Organization and Woman Emancipation. The conclusion here,  there are controversial regulations in Islam including burqa banning and polygamy, however, how those regulations stated in Muslims? scripture are often misinterpreted. The rule of civil society organizations is important to empower women however beyond that is to understand the voice of majority populations to succeed in the program implementation. Abstract

This paper explored various forms of address in Bengkulu which may help in understanding the culture of the people and also in knowing the reason why the people behave the way they do in an encounter with others in different situations. The address terms examined in this paper are limited to names only. Pronouns and other forms were not included. The study entails an approach namely collection of data by means of questionnaire and introspection by native speakers from within their own circle of friends and relations in both nuclear and extended family. Twenty participants assisted in collecting the various forms of Bengkulu address terms from their friends and relations by means of audio-recording and notes of people's address behavior. The findings showed that the titles vary from those derived from kinship terms, chieftaincy, age, and social as well as distance of the people. Address forms such as last name is rarely used. Indeed, first names are often used when addressing a person who is junior or to show intimacy among them. At last, this study also found that the address term teknonym appears to be a infrequently feature of address in Malay Bengkulu. Keywords: Address forms, culture, titles, first name, last name.
