Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat (JSAM) is an academic journal, publishing two issues per year (June and December). JSAM is published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This journal seeks to provide a venue for sharing new empirical research and theoretical analysis of intersections between religion and societies. JSAM publishes original works that contribute to scientific discussion of the relationship between Islam and societies. The journal’s primary focus is on contemporary issues of Islam and culture, politics, economics, law, communication, and history within Indonesian contexts such as local wisdom, multiculturalism and pluralism. However, works on the issues of world religions and global societies are welcome.

Abstract

Zakat, baik itu zakat fitrah atau zakat mal (harta), sebenarnya telah dilaksanakan oleh umat Islam sejak 14 abad yang silam. Rukun Islam yang ke-empat ini pun bukan menjadi fenomena unik lagi pada masyarakat sekarang, sebab semua orang Islam, bahkan non-muslim, telah mengetahui tentang dimensi filantropis Islam ini. Namun uniknya, justru komunitas termiskin di dunia, dari seluruh komunitas agama yang ada, adalah komunitas muslim. Negara-negara yang berstatus sebagai negara berkembang (bukan negara maju) pun rata-rata adalah negara yang banyak dihuni oleh orang Islam.Ada apa sebenarnya dengan zakat ini? Bagaimana sebenarnya pelaksanaan zakat dimaksud? Termasuk pula di sini bagaimana pengumpulan, pendistribusian dan pendayagunaannya? Demi menjawab pertanyaan tersebut, tentu tidak mungkin dilakukan hanya dengan melihat selintas aktivitas zakat yang ada di masyarakat, namun perlu dilakukan suatu penelitian yang mendalam untuk masalah ini. Dan merupakan suatu kemustahilan pula jika harus meneliti keseluruhannya dalam scope suatu negara, hingga untuk ini, penelitian dalam kerangka menggali potensi umat melalui zakat ini dibatasi pada suatu distrik (kota) yang menjadi bagian dari wilayah negara Indonesia, yakni Kota Palangka Raya, dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data observasi,wawancara dan dokumentasi dengan menggunakan model analisis interaktif. Melalui penelitian ini ditemukan fakta bahwa pelaksanaan zakat yang ada di Kota Palangka Raya pada dasarnya diselenggarakan dalam 2 (dua) pola dasar, yakni pola perorangan, masjid/langgar/mushallo, dan pola Badan Amil Zakat Kota Palangka Raya sendiri, atau yang sering diistilahkan dengan BAZIS.Berawal dari dua pola dasar di atas – terutama sekali pada pola pertama – inilah diketahui sebab musababnya mengapa dana zakat yang selama ini semestinya bisa menjadi potensi besar bagi perekonomian umat menjadi tidak tergali secara maksimal.

Abstract

The principle of the study is to explore the objective condition about the dimension of the mosque function development inPalangkaRayaCity. There are two problems to be discussed: 1) How are the mosque function development  inPalangkaRayaCity?; 2) How are the kind of problems in developing of mosque function inPalangkaRayaCity?The approach used in this study was qualitative by using multi-case study. It was used to explore 23 mosques which were inPalangkaRayaCityrelated to their dimension in developing of mosque functions and developmental problems. The data collection method used: (a) interview, (b) participative observation, (c) documentation. To analyse the data were used collection, reduction, display, and verification data.The findings showed that 20 mosques had shown their developmental dynamics in education, religious proselytizing, and social fuction. Meanwhile, their function in economy, art, and politic did not run maximally. There were some problems in developing of the mosque function, as follows: (1) the management of mosque was not enough yet, (2) they had weakness in management, (3) there were some understanding of laws pertaining to ritual obligations, (4) there were no communication intensively to congragation, (5) there was no internal synergy organizer and inter-organizer, (6) they had limited finances, (7) the mosque building was oriented to physical building, (8) they had limited insfrastructure, (9) the location of moque was not strategic, (10) there were  reduction to the mosque functions.

Abstract

A good teaching-learning process can only be done by qualified teachers with adequate teaching competency in terms of planning and managing teaching and learning activities, and assess student learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers are required to master a set of knowledge and teaching skills. This study aims to determine the benefit of sharing teaching experience in the KKG forum for the improvement of teacher competence in teaching science (IPA) in primary schools. The competence of teachers here are focused on opening and closing skills and mastery of the lessons concepts. The method used is an experiment conducted in 7 primary schools in the cluster environment of Gugus Wiyata Bhakti, Cisurupan, Garut District. The results of analysis on observing the teachers showed that after attending the sharing of teaching experience in the KKG forum teachers skills of opening and closing capabilities are getting better with bringing forward all aspects of opening and closing the lesson. Also the tests analysis indicated that teachers mastery on the concept showed that the N-Gain is 0:36 with medium category.

Abstract

Isi buku tersebut adalah membahas pemikiran filosofis dan historis Karl Marx, yang pertama kali diterbitkan di Amerika Serikat, kemudian ada tambahan manuskrip dari penulis (Erich Fromm) karena pribadi Marx, sebagaimana ide-idenya, telah difitnah serta dicemarkan oleh banyak penulis.Pemikiran Marx yang banyak eksistensialis, mempresentasikan sebuah protes untuk menentang aliansi manusia, hilangnya jati diri manusia, dan perubahan manusia menjadi sebuah benda. Sehingga kalau kita telaah secara mendalam filsafat Marx adalah merupakan gerakan untuk melawan dehumanisasi dan otomatisasi manusia yang selalu melekat kebanyakan pada industrialisasi Barat.Marx mengungkapkan secara sangat artikulatif dalam “Economic and philosophical manuscripts”. Kemudian sebagai isu sentralnya adalah “Eksistensi manusia individual yang nyata, yakni apa yang diperbuatnya, dan yang sifatnya membuka dan menyingkap dirinya sendiri dalam sejarah serta protes yang diilhami oleh keyakinan pada manusia, pada kemampuan manusia untuk membebaskan dirinya dan menyadari potensialitasnya”.

Abstract

Family is one of natural education center. Parents are naturally encouraged to educate and guide their children to be mature who have a decent life, to be happy in this world and hereafter. Because the religious education that was given by parents to children has a major influence in forming the character of the growth and development of the children.Children who get more religious exercise in their childhood will get a stronger religious basic in them selves when they are being adult, so they can apply it in their life. Religious diversity is a Sunnatullahthat must be accepted by humans objectively, even the Lord reminded that everybody has been given a law and way in belief, then how humans compete to do goodness on the earth.The multi religions perspective, religious education in family basically shows similarities in pattern, goal and material. Its pattern and goal is to establish a good personality, to the Almighty God and also the other creatures, in order to make a responsible person. Different religions in a family is quite difficult to provide religious education to the children, though it seems harmonious, but it gets problems and psychological effects in the process of planting a belief or ideology to the children.

Abstract

 Al-Qur’an, as the guidance of muslim in all age, included all aspects of life in it. It did not only talk about ritual teachings, but it also gave the followers the comprehensive guidance of how to interact with other people in social life and business and economic life. This article was aimed to explore Qur’anic terms, ethics, and principles in relation to business and economic issue. According to this research, these economic and business terms were mentioned frequently in different suras: al-bay’i, al-riba’, al-tijarah, al-adl, al-qisth, al-rizq, al-mal, etc. Based on the terms, the fundamental ethics, and the principles of Qur’an in business and economy, there were integration (tawhid), balance, justice, mutual trust and advantage, honesty, prime service, togetherness, social care and responsibility, hygiene and legality.

Abstract

The study examines the verbal communication especially it is related to listening in the Qur’an. The problems of the study are: 1) What are terms that are related to listening? 2) What are the Qur’anic concepts related to effective listening? The study is pure library research with tafsir maudhu’i  so that main source of data is the Qur’an, mu’jam Li alfafadz al-qur’an, tafsir books and other books related to verbal communication.  In analyzing the data, the content analysis is used. The results of the study indicate that: Qur’anic terms about listening are not only something to do with physical perception to grasp the sound but also from all the verses, the majority is related to the ability to comprehend and obey to messages being delivered. In the Qur’an, listening effective implies that there should be concrete action to messages being accepted because good listeners tend to be more related to obedience. In order to listen effectively, it is not only with wish and desire to listen to the content of the message but the most important thing is the effort to understand and practice the messages.

Abstract

Islam is the great religion and develops among the consumers all over the world. There is an evidence that the religious beliefs influence the consumers’ behaviors and responses toward the message of the advertisement. The objective of the article is to present a framework in managerial decision making related to Islamic values toward the implication of illustrated advertisement in the context of Middle East. The recommendation is provided for international advertisement to develop the messages for the segmentation of Muslim consumers.

Abstract

The background of the tradition of the muslim community in dividing the inheritance amicably was due to advice from one or more of the heirs which the most dominant in the division of inheritance,  because inheritance heir of inadequate if distributed with the way faraid, in addition there are also which based on the message of  inheritor before died to the heirs to share of inheritance the amicably. The purpose of this research was the tradition of the muslim community in dividing. This research uses descriptive qualitative approximation is collect and describe the data and facts matching in with situation which to exist at field and that obtained from the result of observation, interview and documentation. The result of this research demonstrate that The practice of implementation of the division of inheritance traditions amicably, there are two i.e. ways the division which done with the way agreement the family and the based to testament of the inheritor in moment still living, whereas the impact of the division of inheritance with the way amicably which done based on the message of inheritor before died to the heirs to divide of inheritance with the way amicably it is the positively impact.

Abstract

This study focuses on three questions: (1) How are the students’ perceptions to the implementation of English assessment? (2) How are the students’ perceptions to the items of English assessment? (3) How are the students’ perceptions to their scores in English assessment? Data were collected from the interview to the students (13 students). They were chosen based on the upper and lower scores. Purpose sampling was used in deciding of the students as the informants. Scores in this study were from the upper score (>400) and lower score (<400).Findings of the interview revealed that as follows: (1) Majority of the students consider that the implementation of English assessment was not effective yet. It was not effective meant that the performance of the English assessment had some problems. For examples: classroom, the number of the students, and time cases. The main problems were the preparation of the performance of English assessment was not ready, (2) Majority of the students had got problems in listening comprehension section. They could not listen to the cassette well. Responses of the students, only a few of the students did not have problems with listening comprehension section, and (3) Majority of the students got dissatisfactions to their scores. Statements indicated that their scores did not fulfill their expectation to the performance of English assessment. The other findings revealed that certification purpose of assessment is important, and students agree that assessment could aim to develop students’ capacity for current and future learning. Students’ perceptions of assessment practice also suggest that current assessment practice could develop their competence in English.
