Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop Web Design Learning module by using Artisteer Program to facilitate students in learning Web Design. The module is developed applying Dick and Carey’s model. The result reveals that the module  is easy to use as a learning module.  It is suggested that before developing a learning module, there should be done need analysis to assure that the developed product can be utilised optimally. For the further development, it is suggested to produce a module with artisteer program 2.50 version accompanied with tutorial CD. Keywords: learning module, web design, artisteer program

Abstract

This article is based on research and development aimed at producing learning modules for senior high-school students. The module is developed using Dick and Carey’s (2005) model. Based on the data analysis of the development process, experts judgments, evaluation of the product it can be concluded the module is necessary and practicable to use and facilitate students in learning activities, especially in understanding essential concept of Accounting CyclesKeywords: learning module, accounting cycle.

Abstract

This research is aimed at developing a module of writing business letters in English for  twelfth grader of  vocational  school. The module is developed by using  Dick’s et al. (2005) development model. This research  used only 9 com-ponents of the model. In the vocational school module is one important alternatives for delivering  material  to the students. Validation of the module are conducted by the experts (material and media), an English teacher, and the students. The validation result from the  experts   state that the module is good, according to the contents of the module is applicable for the students, the technique of writing of the module is good, and language composing is good. The English  teacher,  as the  user of the product, states that this module is  clear, interesting, appropriate, effective and easy to use. From the one-to-one evaluation, small group evaluation, field trial, the attitude questionnaires, interviews and observations indicate that the module is good, interesting and appropriate for them. It can be concluded that the module can be used in learning English in twelfth grader of vocational school. Keywords: module, business writing, development model

Abstract

This article is based on a developmental research which is aimed at constructing audio-visual media to assist poetry writing instruction. The media is developed by using the contextual approach. The Model Development employs the model of Alessi and Trollip’s (2001) which is emphasized on three main pillars of development: determining activity standards, project management, and ongoing evaluation. These three main pillars of model development then implemented in further three steps of planning, design, and development. Based on the data analysis of the development process, experts’ validation, and field trials of the product, it can be concluded that the quality of the audio visual media is good in assisting creative writing process. Therefore, it is suggested that the media can be used as a media in teaching creative poetry writing for senior high school students. Abstract

The aims of this study were to answer the following questions: (1) Is there any significant influence of applying inquiry approach on students’ achievements in teaching static electricity? (2) Is there any significant influence of students’ motivation on their achievements? (3) Is there any significant influence of applying inquiry approach on students’ achievements of two groups of students owning high and low motivation? (4) Is there any interaction between inquiry approach and motivation on students’ achievements? Two groups of students of SMPN 17 Sarolangun were taught by means of inquiry and conventional approach in studying static electricity separately. A pretest and posttest were administered by means of objective tests and students’ motivation were measured by means of questionaire of Likert scale of 5. The study revealed that students’ achievements of experimental group  is higher than the control group. In addition, the students with high level of motivation also showed higher achievements than the students with low level of motivation. Moreover, there is no interaction between inquiry approach and learning motivation on students’ achievements in studying static electricity. Abstract

This article is based on the developmental research which is aimed at producing an audio visual module applied in vegetative plants cultivation training. A model development is adapted from Dick and Carey design (2005). The present model has been validated by some experts such as media expert and teaching-learning expert. It also has been tested to the students of the eleventh grade at the SMK 2 Muaro Jambi. The results revealed that the product (the audio visual module) is quite applicable to improve students’ knowledge and skills in plants’ production. Abstract

Purpose of this study is to examine effect of participatory method and students’ self concept on the students’ achievement in the Social Studies subject of the Paket B program. The study used experimental 2x2 factorial design and was applied to four goups of Paket B in SKB Muaro Jambi with totally 80 students as samples.  As independent variables are participatory method and conventional method which are applied separately in experiment group and control group. The students’ self-concept is a moderator variable and students’ achievement is the dependent variable. A pre-test and post-test were administered, and the results were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey Test. The results revealed that (1) there was significant difference of students’ achievement between experiment and control groups; and (2) no effect of self concept on students’achievement as indicated by none significant difference of the upper and lower groups. For the upper and lower group, it can be concluded that (1) there was a significant difference of students’ achievement between experiment and control groups; and (2) there is no interaction between  methods of learning and students’ self concept in effecting students’ achievement. Abstract

The present research is aimed to develop learning video used as an instruction media of plant propagation with scion grafting. Principles of social learning, contructivism, and behavioral theories are applied underpinning the model development in this research. Adaptation of Dick and Carey’s model (1985) is used as media development, whereas in the subject-matter development is used Warsihna’s model (2010). The study reveal that the developed media has a good quality in guiding students in the instructional process, especially in the subject of Plant Propagation with Scion Grafting. Based on observation and experts’ judgment, it also can be said that the media is very helpful and interesting to use in the classroom. Abstract

This article is aimed to study the relationship between democratic parenting pattern, educative interaction, learning motivation of primary school students. Two independent variables in this experimental research are democratic parenting pattern and educational interactions, and the dependent variable is students' motivation. From the correlation analysis it can be stated that (1) there is a positive and significant relationship between parenting pattern and student motivation (r=0,559). Democratic parenting pattern and related closely to student’s learning motivation; (2) there is a positive and significant relationship between students interaction and student motivation (r=0,720). Students interaction gives a strong impact on improving student’s motivation; and (3) there is a positive and significant relationship between parenting pattern, student’s interaction and motivation (0,2109). The democratic parenting pattern and educational interaction give a strong impact on improving student’s motivation. Kata kunci: democratic parenting, educational interaction, learning motivation

Abstract

This article is based on a developmental research. In the production step, the initial product was developed. This product was validated by an expert in subject matter and an expert in media. The next step was trying out the product to the students in three steps, namely, one-to-one try out, small group try-out, and field try-out. The subjects were students of SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Jabung Timur in seventh grade. The subject in this research consisted of two students for one-to-one try-out, ten students for the small group try-out, and 31 students for the field try-out. The data collected in this research included the data from the subject matter expert, the evaluation data from the media specialist, and data from the students on the aspect of attraction. The data were collected using an interview sheet for the subject matter expert, the media expert, and questionnaire sheet for the one-to-one try-out, the small group try-out, and the field try-out. The data were analyzed using the descriptif analysis. The research results show that: 1) the development of audio-visual media Learning spint was in five phases, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, the quality of instructional media developed viewed from the content aspect is good, the quality from the developed instructional media in term of the appearance aspects is good. the quality of the developed instructional media in regard to the attraction aspect is interesting.
