Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the method of learning and cognitive style on learning outcomes of junior high school math students. Research conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Tungkal Ulu, in classVII, the second semester in the Academic Year 2012/2013. The research design uses 3x2 factorial design. One treatment/factor with three levels (X1, X2 and X3) and the moderator variable that has two levels (Y1 and Y2). Research instrument stome asure the independent variable is the design of learning motede partisifatip on class treatment and conventional learning methods in the design of the control class, while the moderator variables using the Group embedded figures test(GEFT). Processing data using ANOVA and Tukey's test double row.Research results sho wthat: first, there is the effect of using the learning method possible to junior high students 'mathematics learning out comes, secondly, there is the influence of cognitive style on junior high school students' mathematics learning out comes; Third, there was nosignifi cant interaction between the use of methods of learning and cognitive style on learning out comes of mathematics junior high school students; fourth, mathematics learning out comes of students whouse the group discussion method is better than the mathematics learning out comes using conventional methods; fifth, mathematics learning out comes of students whouse traditional methods buzz group discussion better than metematika learning out comes using conventional methods. sixth, learning out comes using group discussions as well as the mathematics learning out comes using buzz group discussions; seventh, mathematics learning out comes of students who have the cognitive style of field Independent better learning out comes of students who have cognitive styles Dependent field. In connection with the results of the study, it is suggested that the use of participatory learning methods used asan alternative learning method in order toimprove student learning out comes in particular subject are as of mathematics, and can al sobe used in other fields of study. Abstract

The remedial is a learning system which is taken based on a comprehensive diagnosis referred to find what is necessary to the students. One of the remedial activity is called an improvement given to the students. SDN 47 Kota Jambi is one of the school that remedial program is applied. This research examines the implementation of remedial program on mathematic subject, obstacles to the implementation of remedial program, intentions, and the effectiveness of teaching remedial on mathematics. This research applies descriptive approach. Interview, observation, and documentation were used to collect data. Interactive analysis model are connected with four interrelated components such as data collection, data reduction, data presentment and conclusion. These four criteria were used as validity data checking: level of credence, diversions, dependence, and the level of certainty. The results of this research have shown that (1) The implementation of remedial formative and summative program in SD 47 Kota Jambi has been accomplished as well. The school is also support the implementation of this program. As for the parents, the remedial program means giving a chance to the students to improve their mark. (2) This research found that student’s character, family, and society are the problems in the implementation of remedial program. As for the teachers, it is quite difficult to set the implementation time whereas as for the students, they are facing difficulties when dealing with narrative text, have lack of attention to the subject explained by the teacher and some of them are less-prepared when facing the remedial. (3) This remedial program has produced students who are diligent and built confident within themselves, getting more and more accurate when they have to dealing with their task and problems. (4) Still there are some improvements that needs to be achieved such as they are not develop their attitude and habits that encourage the sense of self-studious and confidence. Thus, sometimes they did not do their homework given by their teacher. (5) Remedial teaching on mathematics is very effective and brings good effect to the students both in school and home. Abstract

Developing media based learning using interactive multimedia applications macromedia director. The purpose of this development is to generate media-based interactive multimedia civics learning that can improve student learning outcomes and fit for use during the learning process Civics. The model of development adopted development model Lee & Owen. Broadly speaking, this development model consists of 5 phases: 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development, 4) implementation, and 5) evaluation. product testing conducted on eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi. Abstract

Purpose of this research is produce "Training Material of Study System Design for Senior High School Indonesia Language Teacher" as according (1) requirement of teacher; (2) condition of expansion; (3) effectif, (4) can increase teacher interest; and (5) earns for teacher training. This research adopts expansion models Dick and Carey (2009). The sequence: determination of general purpose, study analysis, identification of initial ability, writing of purpose of special, assessment expansion of directive reference, strategy expansion, election and matter expansion, scheme and expansion of formative evaluation, revision, and scheme and expansion of evaluation sumatif. Result of this research, in general shows product " Training Material", very good. Suggestion, that product exploited by Senior High School Indonesia Language Teacher and exploited for further education expansion. Keyword: Development, training materials, design, learning systems

Abstract

Nowadays, same elemtary school/SD which are located in Jambi City have already started getting the dental nurse graduates; to help schools on the Endeavor Program of School Dental Health (UKGS) Program for promotion, preventive and curative matters. This research is conducted to evaluate on the UKGS program in the implementation of promotation, preventive and curative actions. The types of the research used are qualitative methods and it is presented descriptively. The methods of collecting data are conducted by doing in-depth interviews to the personal-core informants and supported informants, non- participatory observation is conducted in the UKS room and the documentation study for the validity of the data is conducted by the triangulation methods and resources. The result showed that : (1) The promotion action was run well and it run according to the competences; (2) There are two competences of preventive core are not implemented for instance, the competence of how to rinse the mouth using fluorine substance and the other is the competence of doing the pit filling and fissure sealant. Meanwhile, the other two preventive competences have run well in accordance with its competence. They are the preventive competences have run well in accordance with its competence. They are the competences of theacing good teachnique in teeth brusing and claning/scraping the tartar; (3) The curative action was run in accordance with the competences, even though one of the competences could not be by the dental nurses. It is the competency of extracting single root permanent teeth, it was due to the lack of no license from the authority, the clinic or dentists. Abstract

This study intends to describe the process of developing learning materials for Junior High School students, especially transactional utterancess through videos, and to provide media for teaching speaking. This development was necessarily done due to the fact that students’ speaking ability was still poor. This was caused by the lack of media which could support the students in dealing with the issue. Therefore, an development of learning materials of English speaking skills was needed in order to reach an effective and innovative goal. This study follow these five stages. The stages are need anlysis, designing product, production, validation, try out and packing the product. The result of evaluation from the media expert is 81,3%, and subject matter is 84,4%. Based on the small group try out that is done to ten students are 81,4%, while the big group try out that is done to twenty students are 87,5%. There `s an increasing of students` speaking ability that`s shown by the test. The increasing is about 17,55% at small group try out and 22,25% at the big group try out. So It can be said that the product is proper as a media in teaching speaking. In the other hand the use of this English development product in teaching speaking can increase student`s speaking ability. Keyword: development, learning material, speaking skill.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the allegations of the influence of family environment and social environment on student achievement on economic subjects, students of class XI IPS SMA N 3 Jambi City year 2012-2013. The results showed that the family environment and social environment jointly significant effect on their learning outcomes. Abstract

The objectives of this research are to propose a specifically designed Instructional Design (ID) model for English as foreign language instruction. The method adopted in developing the proposed ID model is by studying the existing models that have been proposed by many experts and identifying the components of these models. Various theories and perspectives are considered in designing the proposed ID model and integrating the components into the model and their sequences. An ID model for English as foreign language instruction developed in this research consists of seven components which are arranged in mix sequence approach. The components that are connected to the instructional design model are learners needs analysis, learning objectives, instructional materials and sequence, instructional media, instructional strategis, authentic assessment, and performance improvement. The components of the model are arranged following a mix model approach, and thus the model application and use are more flexible. The ID model was validated by two experts through expert reviews and four teachers’ perception. These two experts have indicated that the model has fulfilled internal validation in terms of the components and sequence. Teachers’ perception has given an indication that the model on conceptual basis could be implemented successfully for English as foreign language instruction. Abstract

Media that had been used at the time of learning to write poetry is to wear textbooks and worksheets, although using the environment and even then only in the classroom. The school has actually set up a computer and digital projector; the facility cannot be fully utilized due to the limited ability of the teacher. Armed with the help of video learning process more interesting and meaningful. Besides video media is used as an important learning to cope with students' learning styles, both students who have a visual learning style and learning style audio. Their lessons can be combined with the use of information technology advances. Through the advancement of the teachers can use video. This results in a product development research video for learning to write poetry. The specifications of the products developed by the researchers contains a step -by-step how to write poetryand poetry is equipped with a visualization exercise for the task of writing poetry . Abstract

The purpose of this study is to prove the existence of the learning effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) strategy and the Self-Concept Toward Understanding Math Concepts Grade VIII MTs of Bangko. This research is the quantitative research, that’s the quasi-experimental. Data collection instruments such as questionnaires and tests the concept of self-understanding mathematical concepts. The research result are: (1) There is the influence of contextual teaching and learning strategies for understanding mathematical concepts. (2) There is the influence of self-concept to the understanding of mathematical concepts. (3) There were no effects of contextual teaching and learning strategies for understanding mathematical concepts to students who have a high self- concept. (4) There were no effects of contextual teaching and learning strategies for understanding mathematical concepts to students who have a low self-concept. (5) There is no interaction between learning strategy and self-concept. In this study it was found that CTL and self-concept in learning influence students' understanding of mathematical concepts, but CTL has a powerful role in increasing the understanding of mathematical concepts, regardless of whether the student is a high or low self-concept.
