The Indonesian Journal of Occupational Safety and Health
The Indonesian Journal of Occupational Safety and Health is an open access and scientific journal published by the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga, and supported by Indonesian Occupational Safety and Health Association (AHKKI) East Java Region, Indonesian Occupational Health Experts Association (PAKKI), and Indonesian Industrial Hygiene Association. The journal aims to publish original articles and review articles on recent developments related to occupational health and safety. Articles were published after a peer-review process with two reviewers and the editor. Since 2017, this journal is published regularly three times a year, in April, August and December. Since 2019, all articles have been published in English. This journal has been certified as a Scientific Journal by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (RISTEKDIKTI) since October 3, 2022 valid through August 2026 (SINTA 2).

Implementing SOP (Standard and Operational Procedures) is one of the efforts to protect workers from occupational hazards, especially for high risk jobs such as working at height. The purpose of this research is to analyze factors that related the compliance of PT Sri Murni worker with working at height’s SOP in Tunjungan Plaza 6 project. This research is analytic observational with cross sectional design. The subject of this study were the sample of workers taken using simple random sampling and obtained the number of 33 respondents . The available data have been presented in the form of frequency distribution and cross tabulation, then analyzed statistically by chi square. The results showed that most workers was complianced with working at height’s SOP. The results of statistical analysis showing that knowledge (p=0,010, r=0,447) and communications (p=0,016, r=0,418) as factors that significantly related to working at height’s SOP and have moderate relations. Personality (p=0,656) and safety supervision (p=0,464) were not related to working at height’s SOP compliance. Suggestion to the company based on the results of research are to increase worker’s knowledge through safety talk or training, and the safety man to pay more attention to workers while they are doing working at height’s job so they could more compliance to SOP. Company should also provide PPE as much as the number of workers.

The burning of limestone has effects against the labors such as pulmonary function disorders which are acute and chronic. The Pulmonary function disorders which are acute, for example respiratory tract irritation, increased production of mucus, respiratory tract constriction, loss of cilia and mucous membrane cells layer and breathing difficulties. This study was conducted to analyze the strong correlation among the characteristics of the respondent, the respondent habits, level of dust to pulmonary function disorders of the Labors at CV. SRI MULYA PUTRA Tuban. This study uses a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Samples were taken from the study population by 78 people who were previously given initial questionnaire and obtained 23 respondents based on inclusion criteria as the study sample. The independent variables were the characteristics of respondents such as age, sex, length of employment, length of employment, respiratory protective equipment usage habits and exercise habits. The prevalence of respiratory disorder in this study amounted to 13.00%. Test using analysis Contingency Coefficient. The duration of the work is a strong variable to cause pulmonary function disorder to the industrial workforce limestone. The conclusion is there is no strong correlation between the level of limestone dust with pulmonary function status on limestone labor, because the concentration of dust in the working environment is normal, under NAB predetermined. It is advisable to add a work shift, from 2 shifts recommended to be added into 3 shifts. Hazard identification is an effort to identify potential hazard that exist in the workplace. The aim of this study was identify hazards on Oxy-Cutting work in PT. Aziz Abadi Jaya Tuban. This study was a decriptive observational research with cross sectional design.Population of this study is 5 people consisting of 3 workers oxy - cutting, 1 welder superisor and 1 HSE Officer at PT. Aziz Jaya Abadi, Tuban. Samples from this study is the total population. Primary data were collected in the manner of observation and interviewing where as the secondary data obtained from the PT. Aziz Abadi Jaya Tuban profile and Oxy-Cutting Job Safety Analysis. The results showed that the hazards identified in Oxy-Cutting work on PT. Aziz Jaya Abadi Tuban includes damaged regulator, flashback arrestor not avaliable, leaking or torn hoses, the pressure is not balanced, smoking workers, the heat source due to the reaction of Oxy-Acetylene, dust, noise, and poor ergonomics. Company recommended to do risk control that doesnt exist yet to push the risk level with doingflashback arrestor installation and regulator replacement, noise measurement and environment measurement, provision of a fire extinguisher, tighten regulation of the use of personal protective equipment and conduct risk assessment at least once a year

Occupational health and safety is mandatory for every worker. Various tools and advanced technology to simplify and speed up an industrial activity, however these activities also have negative impacts which may cause harm to workers. The purpose of this study was to identify the Hazards, Assessment and Risk Management Section Mini Bus (body) in PT Mekar Armada Jaya Magelang Work Accident Prevention. The study was conducted in PT Mekar Armada Jaya Magelang at Jl Mayjen Bambang Soegeng No. 7, Magelang- Central Java. This research was carried out for 8 weeks starting on August 22, 2016 until October 14, 2016. This type of research is observational with cross sectional study. Primary data obtained by observation. While secondary data obtained from the company. The results of this research are largely derived from the potential danger of equipment and working environment and risks to each post terdentifikasi work almost the same as the activity and the equipment used. The conclusion is that there is a risk of potential hazards in PT Mekar Armada Jaya Magelang. So we recommend a special welding training for the regular welder, periodic health examinations and provide cover protector as well as provide smoking areas ( in units ) that separate from the main work sites. ABSTRACTNurses are working with high expectation, especially nurses at inpatient care unit are. They are to always be ready to provide health treatment to the patients for 24 hours for 7 days. This high expectation may affect and inflicting fatigue on them. Work fatigue is a condition of activity, motivation and physical exhaustion. If nurses don’t take a rest, it can accumulated work fatigue eventually drops the health condition of the nurse off. This research aims to analyze level of work fatigue based on physical workload of the nurses in Inpatient Care Unit of RSU Haji Surabaya. This observational descriptive study applied cross-sectional study design. The research was conducted nurses at ward IIIC and IVC. The respondents are 27 nurses with following the criteria of this. The research applied Kruskal Wallis test to find out the variety of the work fatigue level based on physical workload and Spearman correlation test to find out the relationship between physical workload and work fatigue. The result showed that several characteristics of most of the respondents were aged between 30 and 49 years old, female, had been working for more than 5 years, married, normal nutritional status, and low calorie intake. The result also showed the average workload and the nurses might experience moderate work fatigue. The result of inter-variables correlations indicated there were correlation between physical workloads and work fatigueand there are varieties of the work fatigue based on the physical workload.Keywords: nurse, physical workload, work fatigue

The hospital will have a high fire risk in case of fire because in accommodating a lot of patients. Extinguish the fire at the first event of a fire can use the fire extinguisher. The aim of this study was to evaluate the fire extinguisher installation planning. This research was an observational research with a descriptive analysis method. The primary data were collected with observation, interviewing and the secondary data were collected from PT Nindya Karya, Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Brawijaya Malang projects. The sample of study was selected using by purposive sampling. The variables in this study were building construction classification and fire risk, fire classification and fire extinguisher requirement. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Brawijaya Malang project’s were public buildings classification with a low risk fire accident. This building’s risk fire classification were A, B and C. Each floor required 9 pieces of fire extinguisher with CO2 and dry powder types. This research was concluded that the fire extinguisher needs was accordance with Permenakertrans No. 4, 1980. It’s suggested to use the terms and conditions of Permenakertrans No.4, 1980 about the installation and maintenance requirements in planning the installation fire extinguisher.Keywords: Portable Fire Extinguisher identification, hospital buildin

The worker performance must be considered by company due to worker who have good performance can help the company to achieve its goal. Company should give responsibilities according to workers’s ability and expertise for making good performance. The ups and down of worker performance happened because of the tough workload, uncomfortable work environment, and unfilled employee demands. This research analyzed the correlation between financial compensation and work stress on worker performance in PT. Dok and Perkapalan Surabaya (Persero). This research was descriptive which collected observationally with cross-sectional design. The population of study was construction worker in PT. Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya (Persero), the sample was taken by total population which is consist of 40 workers. Independent variables were financial compensation and work stress. Dependent variable was worker performance. The primary data using questionnaires, observation, and interview while secondary data was profile company. The result from questionnaires were calculated using Spearman correlation. It showed that correlation level between financial compensation and worker performance was moderate with 0.332 correlation coefficient value. The level of correlation between work stress toward worker performance is moderate with 0.445 correlation coefficient value. It suggested to industry to improve the concern toward worker by creating safe and comfortable work environment. Giving reward to worker who has good achievement or who can create something useful for company.Keywords: compensation financial, work stress, worker performance

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are disturbances in the skeletal muscles that affect workers, ranging from mild to very severe complaints. MSDs complaints can be caused by internal factor such as gender, age, years of employement, smoking habit and external factor such as exposure to hot work climates. These was an analytical-observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The research samples consisted of 65 workers. Samples were selected by simple random sampling. Individual characteristics data collected by questionnaire, work climates data were obtained by Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) measurement and MSDs complaints data were analyzed by Nordic Body Map (NBM). All data were analyzed by the Spearman-rho correlation with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results showed that most of workers had a moderate risk of MSDs complaints (55.4%). Based on WBGT measurement, work climate exceeded the Threshold Limit Value (TLV). There were no correlation between MSDs complaints and workers characteristics (age, years of employment, and smoking habits). However, there was a significant correlation between MSDs complaints and work climate (p = 0.000; r = 0.730). The company are advised to redesign natural and artificial ventilation system, increasing the knowledge of all workers about ergonomic risks prevention based on their activities, reduce the health effects of workers smoking habit by regular exercise every day and set time of job rotation for 5-15 minutes/hour for workers do other work with a lighter workload. ABSTRACTPT. PAL Surabaya operates Overhead Crane Double Girder tool every day. Those have some risks, for example squeezed, material crushed, fracture and passed away. The objective of the research was to value the level of risks on kapal niagadivision PT. PAL Surabaya. The type of this research was descriptive observational research with cross sectional approach. The research focuses on overhead crane double girder operation at kapal niaga division PT PAL Surabaya, consists ofoperation phase itself. Primary data collection by doing interview and observation, it was presented in a table, analyzed, and explained in descriptive way. The result showed there were 8 potential hazards on operation phase. Controlling type that most implementated was providing personal protective equipment (PPE) as 75%. That is quite significant and effective although there were still residual risks on 7 low potential hazards on preparation phase and 1 medium potential hazards on operation phase. PT PAL Surabaya has not done measurement the level of risks and suggested to do identification in details by noticing any hazards and risks in every job phase. Besides, the operator from the whole overhead crane doublegirder operation should have K3 (SIO) license and specific experience in operating overhead crane double girder, this suitable with Permenaker No 09/MEN/VII/2010.Keywords: risk assessment, overhead crane double girder, level of risks

ABSTRACTLong trip night bus drivers is a very highly risk of fatigue and musculoskeletal disorder. The aim of this research was to learn and acknowledging the level of fatigue and musculoskeletal disorder in PO. (Perusahaan Otobus) Restu Mulya long trip night bus drivers. This is an observational descriptive research with cross sectional study design. The research’s variable is the level of fatigue and musculoskeletal disorder that obtained from primary data using SSRT (Subjective Self Rating Test) questionnaire and NBM (Nordic Body Map) questionnaire. The result shows that 58.33% long trip night bus drivers was felt a moderate level of fatigue and 41.67% long trip night bus drivers felt a severe level of fatigue. Most of long trip night bus drivers which number 75% drivers felt almost-sick of musculoskeletal disorder with the buttock, back, neck, and leg symptom point. The fatigue in PO. Restu Mulya long trip night bus drivers was a moderate and severe level with a lower activity and physicly fatigue symptom. The fatigue can be possibly caused by high physical work burden and psycologycal work burden which is a big responsibilities for the passengers safety. Then a low level of musculoskeletal disorders with the buttock, back, neck, and leg symptom point that possibly caused by monotony sit work posture on a very long time.Keywords: long trip night bus drivers, fatigue, musculoskeletal disorder
